So far, this is easily my most favorite David Cronenberg film. As you more than likely know, Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts both give terrific performances! The 4K transfer is excellent. A terrific job on the visual and audio by Kino Lorber and Universal.

2007 movie directed by David Cronenberg and starring Viggo Mortensen. Viggo Mortensen plays a driver for a mobster (Armin Mueller-Stahl) and his son (Vincent Cassel). The plot kicks off when a young girl dies in child birth and the nurse (Naomi Watts) tries to track down the girl's family to give the baby too. The only thing she has to go on is a diary written in Russian. She gets the diary translated and finds out she was a forced to work for the mob. This was a blind buy for me. I had never heard of this movie before then I saw it was being released on 4K disc and getting lots of positive comments about how good it was. I was just shocked I had never heard of it before, but decided to give it a shot. It turned out to be pretty good movie.

I really like this film. It’s a bit different than most of Cronenburgs other films. It’s not horror, it is action and drama. I am not going to give away the plot , but it is a very well woven script with great direction. If you like Cronenburg movies or action/drama you will love this film. It was one of my 4K wishes and it is finally here !

A triumph of artistic intent from beginning to end from Director David Cronenberg. A History Of Violence (2006) dealt with a similar theme of identity but here there's also an subtler emphasis dealing with the human soul.

Excellent 4k presentation of one of David Cronenberg's best films in the latter part of his career that also boasts a nice selection of special features.

A must have for the Eastern Promises fan. I bought this in DVD, Blu-ray and now 4K. I have to say the 4K upgrade was well worth the price. Video and audio are excellent for an older movie.

Unique Russian mafia film. David Cronenberg takes a different approach outside of his typical horror / sci-fi films. Good action drama and Viggo Mortensen is excellent in it.

Unforgettable movie. Not for the faint of heart though. Great picture quality; nothing crazy, but it has a solid filmic look.
