Great addition to a smart home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the Switch+ has been a great addition to my house. My kids love the Alexa features and use it constantly to play their favorite songs. Installation was quick and easy. The long wire leads make it easy to connect the device and have plenty of room to work. My Switch is installed in a 3-gang box with 2 other switches so I did not use the included cover plate. Depending on how your house is wired you may need to double check before getting. You need 2 blacks (or black and red) and a white (neutral) for installation. It is also not compatible on circuits with multiple switches (3 way/4 way). The everyday use of it is effortless, and most days my family and I don’t even realize how often it gets utilized. As we walk by and tell it to shut the TV off on the way to bed since my harmony remote is also able to integrate with Alexa. My Switch controls my front porch light, and is setup to work with automatic on and off so we aren’t walking up to the house when it’s dark. And if we “forget” then it just shuts itself off instead of just constantly staying on like it used to. So far the integrated temperature and occupancy sensors haven’t been integrated with the ecobee thermostat, although you can see them in HomeKit. Once that is rolled out it will be a truly complete add on for the ecobee thermostats. As I will be able to eliminate the nearby sensor on the adjacent wall.

Nice addition to home automation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An Alexa wall switch? What is this you say? I was expecting a pretty watered down device when it comes to Alexa but to my surprise it isn't. First, the install is quite simple but make sure you follow the instructions as the connections are a bit different. If you can install a regular light switch this should be no problem. The actual setup was easy and straight forward. So far all the functions that are on a full size Alexa are there hidden in a wall switch! Nice addition to my home. May be installing others soon.

Pushing the smart home forward, but lacking some k
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device really packs a lot into a confined housing, and is relatively easy to install - if you can replace a light switch, you can install this device yourself. The allure of this device combines a light switch, an ecobee remote temperature/occupancy sensor (more on that below), and an Amazon echo dot into a device that mounts on the wall and is very unobtrusive. ecobee did a great job making a beautiful light switch that is packed with functionality. So why only 3 stars? First, the limited application. This light switch can only be installed as a replacement for a single-pole, non-dimming switch. I have quite a few 3-way switches and dimming fixtures in my house, which limits the places I can put the device to about 30% of my light switches, most of which are in tiny areas like bathrooms and closets. In order to achieve the dream of "whole-home voice", ecobee needs to take the next step and release a switch with 3-way switch compatibility and dimming built in. For $99, this should be included. Second, the delay or absence of key features. As an ecobee thermostat owner, I was excited to have the built-in temperature sensor to allow me to move one of my room sensors to a new location. Sadly, that feature is not coming until the summer (hardware is present, software isn't ready). For a company that was founded on producing thermostats and remote temperature sensors, this is a miss. The occupancy sensor is a key piece but the occupancy data is not surfaced (yet?) through the app so I can see what areas of my house are occupied, as I do with remote temperature sensors. Also, the lack of flexibility in scheduling is a bit frustrating. I can set an exterior light on at Sunset, and off at a particular time (recent add - thank you!!), but can't simply set an on-and-off schedule like I can with most other IOT devices. I hope ecobee continues to listen to their customers and implement these features to continue making the smart-home experience enjoyable and unintrusive.

Nice features if compatible
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes this would work well in my son’s room. I found out after calling Customer Service that my wiring is not compatible. I have the standard three wire setup... hot, neutral and ground wire. The switch requires four wires plus the ground. So far I have found nobody I know with this setup. It would be nice if the packaging told you this requirement. It will be a great product if you have newer wiring that will support it. Even though it would not work, customer support is very good.

Great first product, needs additional features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am comparing this to other devices on the market. I have 38 switches, thermostats etc controlled by Alexa. (Nest, Ecobee thermostats, Wemo switches, Ecobee Switches. I thikn it's a great first attempt and will do everything you will want except for the following things; You can't change the Alexa WAKE word to something other than ALEXA. I use "COMPUTER" on all of the other devices. That is a software change and hopefully not a licensing issue (it's probably a licensing issue!) I hope they can get that done. If you use Alexa for everything it's no big deal but its driving me crazy. I have WEMO switches that allow you to set specific times of the day to come on and off. RULES and such... Ecobee needs to add that. Again, hopefully just software. I assumed they had them but it doesn't. Quike frankly this is the reason they lost 1.5 stars. This unit has sensors to turns things on when someone enters the room. nice, but I don't need that. It's not the same thing. I originally went with the ECOBEE because WEMO won't let you control more than one home from a smart phone. It seems to be a little slower than the DOT and ECHO at acknowledging the WAKE word and turning the blue light on. I am not sure if it is a processor or something else like architecture. I don't think it's me.... maybe someone can explain what I think I'm seeing. The unit will only handle 600 watts incandescent and 150 watts LED. I have no idea why there is a difference? I thought a Watt was a Watt on a SPST switch. While this should be enough for lighting it is less than the WEMO switches which are double that, around 1200 or 1500 watts as I remember. I am not sure if it is going to overheat or just stop drawing over 600 watts or how it knows its LED. My son has a large chandelier with 54 3.5 watt chandelier LED light bulbs. This is not the switch for that unit. Based on how the electrical is wired, some wall switches have one 14/2 wire coming into the switch box with the power already at the light overhead. The light switch simply connects the two wires to complete the circuit. In that case you have a one hot wire and one wire going back to the fixture with the power. It also has a bear ground wire. Electricians will use the black for power and the white for return power. The white in this case is not the neutral. This unit will not work with this configuration. They need a white wire, probably to complete the circuit to keep the electronics working. I just opened up one of my switches to install this and found out there is no white wire. This is a great first attempt at switch; hopefully some of the changes above are just software upgrades that can be made to this unit free of charge. At Christmas etc I was buying ECHO Dot's for $29. You can get the Echo DOT and the WEMO brand switch and its costs less. No Alexa built in but Alexa DOT can control the WEMO switch and I can use the wake word COMPUTER!. The Ecobee good in the kitchen where you might not want an Echo device sitting on your counter but the ALEXA stuff isn't enough to get me excited about buying this switch for other rooms. Again the reason I got it was because of WEMO limitations and it addressed that for me. Fix the wake word, add rules for going on and of at specific times such as "15 minutes after sunset for 5 hours" and such with some software and this would go to 4.8 stars!

Great Smart Switch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was leery on the idea of a smart wall switch until I tried it out. Install and setup was a breeze, took all of 15 min. Alexa usage is a quick setup on the phone and away you go. When this is activated as a room sensor with my ecobee thermostat it will be even better!

LOVE MY ECOBEE Switch+
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this for the integrated Alrxa and well as hands-free automatic lighting. It's great! It turns the lights on by motion sensor even when my hands are full. It is a tad too sensitive though being triggered by the wind blowing the trees. I use Alex's intercom feature ALL THE TIME! I am disabled and it helps me communicate with my husband in other parts of our home.Unfortunately, my electrician had to run a new line, because I didn't have the wired necessary,

Does the job without the clutter!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the switch, but in order to really control things, you have to spend more and more money buying smart gadgets. They're not cheap. I ordered this switch because we like a good, clean install. No clutter on the kitchen countertops.

Best Smart Light Switch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This switch was easy to install and works like a charm. The fact that it works like an intercom and can be used (if you add more as a whole house music system. I love this company and their customer service can answer any questions or concerns that may come up. They also have a community of people that own their products that add their wisdom to a blog.

The smartest smart home device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This switch seems to do it all. Alexa built-in, temperature, light and motion, plus it has a nightlight! This is the smartest smart home derive in my home. With an Alexa skill for Bose enabled, when I talk to Alexa, my TV mutes. I can turn off and on my Hue lights, adjust my ecobee thermostat, set a timer, and more. It's amazing.

Good idea, poorly executed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The idea and concept of this is great, however ecobee did a poor job executing the switch itself. It was originally said it will communicate with your ecobee thermostat when before it even came on the market - still waiting for that functionality more a year and a half later. The voice control with Alexa is very patchy at best and does not work well when you're in close proximity to other Alexa devices - it claims you can simply say a command and only the closest one will respond. Actually, these switches interfere with other units, sometimes responding when it's the closets one, but usually when it's further away from you. I bought 2 units and had each one replaced twice within their warranty period due to faulty occupancy sensor, inability to connect to WiFi, stopped responding to voice command and one that simply stopped working as a switch. There are a number of other issues I've encountered which makes this more of a half baked hobbyist's toy than a practical everyday solution. The only plus that comes to mind right now is that the aesthetics are spot on - looks very good. I want this to work, but as the title says, it's nothing more than a great idea and poorly executed device.

Ecobee is great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this item, used it in a bedroom to control the light and allow my son to have a echo device in his room without all the space of a dot. Works well, just hope more features for it become available as time goes on.

Great, if you're in the Amazon Alexa ecosystem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is more convenient, and less intrusive than an echo dot. However, it is more complicate to install (requires replacing a light switch vs. plugging in an echo dot). The speaker is OK, but not as good as an echo Dot. If you're not in the Alexa ecosystem, then functionality is similar to that of a wemo switch in that it can be turned on/off via other AI's, such as Google Assistant. However, the wemo is typically much less expensive.

Not compatible with mesh networks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had thought the Switch+ looked like a great idea for a specific room in my house. I checked on compatibility online and on the packaging and all looked fine. As others have noted, it has limited compatibility with wiring setups but that wasn't a problem in my house. When I got it all wired up and running, it wouldn't connect to my wifi. After contacting Ecobee, they noted that it wasn't compatible with mesh networks - none of them. I have an Eero mesh network router (sold in all Best Buy stores) so I contacted them too to see if they had a workaround. Nope. I had to return the Switch+. There is no mention of the lack of compatibility on their web site or packaging.
