Ok
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is an "ok" vacuum. Not very powerful, but at least it is not dumb as the Roombas, it could have better decision-making skills but that's something for the programmers to come up with an update in the future.

Great cleaning companion
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have only had the vacuum about a week but so far so good. It has a little trouble on one of the larger thresholds but does manage to get over it. We have two dogs that shed and a cat. Once a schedule was set to clean every day, our floors have never stayed so clean. That is in part because we didn’t vacuum every day so the convenience of it being done for you is what we needed. I also like that it self empties after cleaning so we only have to empty the station, which we haven’t even done yet. Great vacuum for the price range.

Warning if you have pets
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DEEBOT N8+ Purchased the N8+ to replace a N79S thinking it would need less maintenance WRONG. It hardly ever self cleans the dust bin totally. To semi over come this have it scheduled to run 4 times a day. With a couple of those scheduled to run part of the house. This vacuum does not like pet hair or any small pebbles. This things just stay in the dust bin. So have to empty the bin everyday. That's what we did with the N79S. So now not only do we have to clean the bin but also have to replace the dust bag every two weeks. If it wasn't past the returnable date it would be going back.

Very nice robot vacuum with mopping ability
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum This very nice robot vacuum comes with an Auto-Empty Station that doubles as a charging station. When the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum returns to its charging station, the Auto-Empty Station kicks in automatically moving the dirt and debris from the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum into the Auto-Empty Station, which uses a paper vacuum cleaner bag (like you’d find on typical canister or most upright vacuum cleaners) to hold the debris until it becomes full (it comes with one bag in the Auto-Empty Station and one replacement). Depending on your particular circumstances, the debris bag may not need replacing for a month or two. You simply take out the full bag and replace it with a new one. That’s the only time when the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum system is noisy – it’s not the robot vacuum but rather the Auto-Empty Station that’s noisy while emptying the robot. This lasts about 30 seconds. The Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum on the other hand, runs quietly – you can hear it, but it runs more quietly than many robot vacuums I’ve used. The Auto-Empty Station will send you an alert through its app (see next paragraph about the app) when it’s full. There is an app for your smartphone to download that allows you to control the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum while away from home. If you follow the directions when you first get the robot, it will map your entire home in the app. It will go about cleaning the different floor areas of your home to provide this information (the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum first scans the area to form a grid in its brain and that provides the mapping data for the app). The app designates different areas with letters of the alphabet: A, B, C, D etc. The letters appear on the map. If you want your Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum to go to, say, area C, just tap the C on your map and it will leave the charging station and head to area C to do its work. When it’s done with area C, it will head back to the charging station. You can designate multiple areas at one time if you need several areas cleaned together. If the combined areas are larger than the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum can handle on one charge, it will go to the charging station, recharge, and then take off again automatically to complete the job you assigned it. When finished, it will return to the charging station (Auto-Empty Station). If there area places on your map that you want your robot to avoid (pet food stations etc.), just draw a line or box on the map with your finger and the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum will not cross those lines! You can even set your cleaning settings differently for different rooms or areas where some may require more cleaning than others. You can actually divide or merge cleaning areas on your map or even map by room only. It’s very flexible to allow you to set things as you want them. Of course, if you only have one room needing vacuuming and you don’t want to use the map, you can just set the robot in a closed room and hit the clean button; it will scan then clean that room. On the other hand, if you like using voice commands, you can do so over Alexa or Google Assistant. As with most robotic vacuums, you can schedule cleaning as well for days/times that suit you. The Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum will run using less power over hard surfaces, but when it detects carpet, it will provide more power for both movement and suction. In watching our robot, it does a better job of scanning/navigation than others we’ve had. It moves precisely and consistently along its grid and often doesn’t bump into obstructions but navigates closely to them while going around them. It will bump into obstructions but much less than others and doesn’t bang into them when it does but will rather gently bump them, if at all. It edges as it navigates around obstructions or along walls. Frankly, it’s impressive to watch the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum work. After all is said and done, it does a great job vacuuming whether hard surfaces or carpets. So far, it hasn’t gotten stuck anywhere, and it has the power, when needed, to move over different elevations (thicker rugs on hard or carpeted surfaces). Also, Ecovacs offers the same robot in a Pro version that even avoids small objects or electrical cords on the floor. The Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum will run between one and two hours before needing recharging. It depends upon what type of surface(s) it is cleaning and how many obstructions it must navigate around. Reportedly, it will cover 2000+ SF on one 110 minute charge, but I haven’t proven that at this time. I’ve left this to last: the robot will vacuum and mop at the same time. You add an included pad (one washable pad and 10 disposable pads provided) along with the included water reservoir to the robot and send it on its way as you would ordinarily. It will cover hard surfaces precisely as it does when vacuuming. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 7. It won’t scrub your hard surfaces of everything, but it will clean them enough to make them look good just before company shows up. It gets the debris (vacuuming) and much of the more stuck on “dirt” that hard surfaces typically show up. While it will leave a somewhat wet trail behind it, that dries in a short while (you can adjust the settings as to how wet you want the cleaning pad to be). I was surprised that I found very little if any streaking after the floor dried. While doing the mopping, it will automatically avoid carpeting. Overall, I really like the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum. It scans and navigates very well, vacuums very well, and runs quietly while doing so. With the Auto-Empty Station as part of it, and emptying the robot after a cleaning session, is really nice. Mopping is more hands-on in that you have to attach/un-attach the mopping pad and reservoir then wash the cloth pad. Its mopping ability is good, but is not a substitute for getting your hard surfaces really clean. It provides a good light cleaning beyond just vacuuming, so it’s good with that understanding – of course, this is true with most other mopping robot vacuums as well. Finally, the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum is a good addition to most any household.

Love it, it actually gets the job done!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This robot vacuum really works! This is a great update from my previous robot vacuum. It does not slam into objects and I do not have to play hide and seek. It actually goes to its base when done. Our downstairs area is pretty big so it even goes back to its base to get charged up some to finish the job. The mapping system is amazing. It can recognize different rooms and you can specify which areas to clean. I love this vacum and its features. The only thing is the self empty is a little on the loud side, but not to bad.

A robot vacuum swiss army knife
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROs - Effective vacuuming and mopping - Self-emptying station - Great app experience with tons of customization - Amazon Alexa/Google Assistant integration CONs - Long pet hair and larger debris may clog self-emptying channel SUMMARY Ecovac’s higher end Deebot robot vacuum cleans have long been a sort of swiss army knife when it comes to capabilities and the new N8+ is no different. The N8+ has the dual vacuuming and mopping capability that they introduced in a previous model, along with the lidar mapping capability and extremely versatile mobile app. What’s new is the addition of a self-emptying tower which adds a new degree of autonomy and hands-off operation. DESIGN + CAPABILITY The N8+ has a typical round design. Underneath 2 circular brush heads flank a roller brush to help push dirt and debris to the middle of the robot’s path. The design and rotation speed of the circular brushes was an optimal for pushing small to large debris and not to fast to fling it wildly like I’ve experience on some robots. The main cylindrical brush has a combination of bristles and rubber flaps to help brush and scoop dirt and larger debris. With this design it does a great job picking up everything in its path, but I did have issues with pet hair getting stuck. It would be nice if they had an optional roller design optimized to prevent clogging in these cases. Like other robot vacuums it has all the other typical sensors - front bumper sensors and proximity sensors, edge sensors, and cliff sensors to keep it from going downstairs and ledges. The differentiating tech for Deebots has been their excellent 2D Lidar capability. This Lidar in combination with the built-in sensors makes for more logical (and human) planning when it comes to the path and order that your N8+ tackles rooms. In large open areas it will take overlapping back and forth passes to quickly and effectively clean the large area. When it reaches a wall it will closely hug it before turning to continue its path. After getting the largest area of the room the N8+ moves to each smaller area and starts its back and forth sweep again to clean. Towards the end of the cleaning cycle it will make a pass along the whole edge of the room to make sure it got everything. I love this logical approach to path planning and it looks a lot better on carpet than random lines! In addition to navigation, the sensors will also be able to tell what kind of surface the vacuum is on, this will allow it to apply more such on thicker carpeted surfaces and less on harder surfaces like hardwood and tile. This is used not only to tell the vacuum when to increase suction, but also when to apply cleaning solution when mopping. When the robot is operating in a mopping mode it dispense cleaning solution from the tank and uses the available pad to dry and clean dirt that has attached to your surfaces. SETUP + APP Setup was very straight forward. Unpack and attach the brushes to the bottom of the robot. Next, setup the tower with sufficient space on either side, and plug into an outlet – there is a handy wrap on the back to roll up the cable for management. Finally, download the app and make an account. Deebots have a QR code that you scan with the app, once you’ve entered your Wi-Fi password the robot will connect. Before your first cleaning session, I recommend straightening up around (robot vacuum cleaners are smart, but not perfect). If there is something that is regularly on the ground that the robot might get hooked up, I recommend picking it up for the first clean. Your Deebot is going to use the lidar sensor to generate a floorplan and I like to get one that’s as accurate as possible. Once you have a great map you add virtual walls and box areas on your floorplan map that are off-limits to the robot. Additionally, once you have a map generated you can create and label rooms to expand your N8+'s cleaning capabilities. This gives you a ton of options when it comes to cleaning. You can select a particular room to be cleaned, drag a box over an area to be cleaned, or just clean everywhere. This gives you incredible flexibility when scheduling your robot’s cleans. If you know a particular area gets dirtier than others, you can schedule special cleaning sessions specific to that room. In addition to the app, there is Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant integration so that you can tell your N8+ to start/pause/stop vacuuming or mopping, return to the dock, and more! I found this extremely useful when I was trying to multitask and did not want to have to pull out my phone or changes apps. PERFORMANCE The suction and brush array did a great job of picking up small to medium size debris (think dog kibble). The only issue I had was pet hair getting stuck in the roller and not being able to be sucked out through the self-emptying channel in the dock, requiring manual intervention. This could most likely be fixed with a different brush design, a wider channel to suck out the robot’s dust bin, and more suction from the toper. Overall, the combination of the sensors with great suction made for a thorough and deep clean. Pair with an extremely versatile app, this is a high performing vacuum cleaner, and the addition of the self-emptying tower means that you should be able to set it up a scheduled clean and forget about it for the next month.

Great Hardware, Buggy App
