Anyone can tell you that a power surge or outage can really mess up your high-powered devices as well as your day. Your most important electronics would be better served plugged into a high-end surge protector than one of those random, unreliable ones. The ELAC Protek PR-71S gives you the peace of mind knowing that your devices will be fully protected. The surge protector is a massive device, with 8 AC outlets (7 rear, 1 front), 2 USB-A ports (5V / 2.4 A total), and an eight-foot cord to boot. The plug has a 360-degree rotating feature, which allows you to connect to any wall outlet with ease. The casing is fire retardant ceramic and has high temperature resistance. The front display has an LED power button, dimmer and reboot options, along with the voltage display and status indicators for easy viewing. I housed mine inside a TV console drawer, and I was happy to see that despite its large size, it was still able to tuck away from view. The switched outlets are separated into two groups, one of which is always on (the front outlet and two rear ones). Unsurprisingly, the PR-71S was able to handle all devices put into use with no issue, ranging from a 4K TV, sound system, multiple gaming systems, and Wi-Fi router, among other things. The USB chargers are a nice extra, giving me the option to charge devices like gaming controllers outside of view. I can't speak to the technical aspects of this thing (2160 Joule surge protection, EMI / RFI 58dB filtration, etc.), but I can say that I had zero problems using all the outlets. During testing, my area had a massive storm that put the surge protector to the test. While the power did not go out during this instance, this robust device put my mind at ease knowing my devices were safe from any surges now and in the future. I got this surge protector to replace my older power strip. The older one had a ground indicator but no power conditioner USB Ports. The set up is easy. The quality of the protector is nice and the color works well with any decor. It is nice and flat and discreet. The cord to plug into the wall rotates which is an awesome little feature not many really think of. The only two things that I personally did not like is that the placement of the outlets in this unit. If you have a bigger brick of a plug for your device, your only options are the end of unit, which is supposedly used for the high current devices or the front plug. Second is the LCD screen. Your only option is to dim it to 10, 20 or 100 percent. Not off. I would have loved it if the screen could dim and the blue LEDs would turn off or dim the blue LEDs and dim the display LCD to lower than 10 percent setting. Other than asking for more outlets for this type of model. (the larger only has one additional outlet) the 12 outlet version just looks like a regular surge protector but has WifI built in. This one has none of that smart stuff. One of the good things is that this has two USBs in the front. Other than those two issues, I'd recommend if you needed a small office set up.

Next level power is the world we live in. We have OLED TVs PlayStation 5s amazing sound systems. They need to be properly protected right. Then. This isn't the area where you want to get cheap. This is a great $300 investment, it is magnolia grade high level product and the moment I plugged it in it's been nothing but awesome. Awesome. Regulates the power keeps all my stuff safe. UL certified, just simply doesn't get better. Invest in keeping your stuff safe.

The ELAC 8 Outlet Component Surge Protector is great. IT just works. Just plug it in and it is ready to go. I use this on my garage workstation. It is great having the USB slots, as I don't need any "wall worts" to be able to charge my cell phone and other devices. Highly recommended if you need line conditioning for sensitive equipment.

Replaced an older well used surge protector for our home theater. Looks good and easy setup. The surge protector has only been in place for several weeks, so far so good.

Easy to install, great looking, and does the job for me.
