Thrilled - After Exhaustive Review of All Brands!

After untold hours reading reviews from many retailer websites and comparing the specifications from all the top brands, Electrolux rose to the top as the most likely to deliver performance without defects. Indeed, we are so relieved to have all the bells and whistles without regret over noise levels, spinning problems, leaking horrors, or control lettering rubbing off ... as these were among the top complaints we read about other brands.
At one point in my tiring research efforts for an advanced front or top loader minus the agitator, I began shopping for the least technologically advanced old-fashioned upright washer WITH an agitator. This out of fear that no matter the brand nor the amount spent, we would surely have problems within the first year and the manufacturer's reps would fall short of a good solution, timely or not. After research on the "lower-end" products I decided for the arguable difference that I was willing to pay, I wanted the option of no agitator and steam.
So, I minimized my risk as best as possible by purchasing through BestBuy and buying the extended warranty. I read ALOT about installation problems and have great confidence in BestBuy from my experiences. I believe I also made the best brand choice based on Electrolux reviews and that it has been selling for over 5 years in the USA and makes very little changes in the product. As with cars, constantly changing features mean that the consumer pays to test the product and the reviews are difficult to rely on.
I have washed more than 20 loads and tested most of the cycles with no incidents. I love the steam and have used it on pet beds, stuffed animals and whites. I love that I can fully customize any load if I don't like the time or temperature on the variety of built-in cycles.
The light inside is rare and I just love the easy touch open and close as we both have arthritis and most of the others, especially Samsung, are hard to open and close. I am 55 and mother is struggling with learning new things and complicated electronics yet the settings are really straight-forward and being able to set the length of the cycle and temperature is wonderful while you are getting to know the unit. Mother was also thrilled to have Actual Hard-Copy Manuals, another rarity these days!!
The only complaint I have is that unlike one other brand, there is no feature to prop the washer door open to help dry out. We just wipe the door and inside the rubber seal when finished washing for the day so don't have to leave open long.
We are So Happy with our Electrolux Washer & Dryer and with the prompt, professional installation from Best Buy.

Great replacement for 8 year old model

Bought this to replace a similar model that had been purchased back in Nov of 2008. There was nothing wrong with the 7 year old model - I gave it to my 80 year old step mother who is very active and lives alone. It thought she'd benefit from using a front loader, instead of all the bending over a top-loader/bending down for dryer. With the pedestals, the washer and dryer are right at her arms height. The older model works as well as the day I bought it and has never needed service. Note: Step-mom had always used a top loader and was shocked that everything went into a single slide tray at the beginning of the wash cycle. No more Downey ball for her!
My living situation is 2 adults, no kids and probably no more than 6 loads on any given week.
This unit works just as well as the old one. The difference here is the new one is a steam model. No longer take my shirts out to be done - the steam does as it advertises and compliments the new steam dryer. Extra cycle types are nice, but not really needed for my use (no kids stuffed animals or pet bedding). I live in a condo unit with a laundry closet and this fits perfectly in a stacked formation with the dryer. Researched this one as I did with my first Electrolux washer 7 years ago: For the price, features and size it came out on top against all other brands. I like that I can fit a King-size comforter in both this washer and matching drying with no trouble whatsoever. Assuming I don't give this one away to a relative in a few years, I expect it'll last me a looooong time to come.
Also, price matching at Best Buy worked to my advantage well here. Home Depot was selling the same model washer/dryer that month with the pedestals included in the price. Best Buy matched their pricing, so I was lucky to get the pedestals for step-mom at no extra cost.
