With the announcement that CBS was launching a new version of Sherlock Holmes with Johnnie Lee Miller and Lucy Lui as Holmes & Watson my first thought was meh. But after just the first episode my entire family was hooked, even our daughter who thought that there was no way this could top the current BBC version. By making Watson a female the CBS version has added something that no other series on Holmes has had before, a Watson who is as smart as Holmes and an integral part of his crime solving. No longer regulated to comic relief Lui's Watson shines. Having the two modern era Holmes shows on doesn't mean you have to choose only one, we watch and enjoy both the BBC version and the CBS version. Since the next BBC series doesn't start for a while do yourself a favor and catch up on Elementary, it will have you coming back for more.

"Elementary" creatively recast the familiar characters you love in a new light that will have you falling all over again. The somewhat stern, gruff, yet lovable portrayal by Mr. Miller of Holmes will have you recoiling from the sting of his diatribe immediately after tearing over the sadness over his underlying vulnerability. Lucy Liu and Miller have amazing chemistry and are at once believable as partners/room-mates without romantic attachment. As the series progresses and we learn more about both of them, it is easy to see why so many have become fans of this new version of the Sherlock Holmes story-line.

Great show! If you haven't seen this show, you need to watch it! Best Buy delivery did a pretty good job, the DVD case had a small piece broken inside but the discs were in great shape. It came quickly too!

Seems everyone has their own Holmes version these days. This one stands out in that it's unafraid to show Sherlock as the flawed genius he is. Had been concerned that a female Watson was just another P.C twist as the industry is wont to do. But the character of Joan Watson really works well and doesn't violate the spirit of the original.

Elementary is a TV series based on the Sherlock Holmes character. Set in the US, and Dr. Watson is an awesome woman! This TV show solves a case each week and discovers a little about Sherlock and Watson each week. If you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes, you should be a fan of this show.

I'm a big fan of the Jeremy Brett series of Sherlock Holmes so was worried this show would be a big disappointment. But I LOVE it! Really enjoy the new spin on the characters. Look forward to seeing how they weave in some old names, especially Mycroft.

We look forward to Wednesday Evenings when the show broadcasts. We have yet to get into the DVDs with the extras, it is next in our series of watching shows and are looking forward to seeing them, as the show itself has been very enjoyable to us.

I actually saw an episode in Finland while visiting my mother ad thought, how stupid that Watson is a female. Then I watched another episode and thought kind of intriguing. After third episode I was hooked.

This series is fascinating and the mysteries are quite well done. The acting is very good. The duo work very well together and compliment each other throughout. Very well done.

My wife and I really liked the show and wanted to re-watch it before season 2 began. This was exactly what we wanted and the price we got it at (weekly special) could not be beat.

You have to go into it with an open mind, because it is weird having a female Watson, but she absolutely kills it! Give it a watch for a good change up of Sherlock.

Surprising, there is no play all button for Elementary on DVD. Most modern shows have that feature, but not here. It's the only downfall to this set. Recommended for any fan.

Enjoyed the 1st season so much went and bought the 2nd season right after. Waiting for season 3 to come out. Show keeps getting better!

This is a fantastic show. The chemistry between the two main characters is complex and realistic within the scope of the show.

Elementary is possibly my favorite modern incarnation of the Sherlock universe -- a must watch for any fan of mystery and intrigue!

This show is wonderful. The amazing talents of Sherlock Holmes are obvious in this well written and well acted show.

I love this series and Best Buy offered a great price is I grabbed it even through I already own the Itune version.
