Innovative Powerful Little Light, Illuminate Your

Just picked up this new Elgato Key Light Mini and so far, I really like it a lot. The main reason I picked up this light was to illuminate products for reviews but there are so many more ways to use this light. I love that it comes with a ¼ inch screw mount on the bottom to be easily mounted to a tripod or a camera. This Light is also a powerful magnet so that it can be stuck to any magnetic metal surface to help light up an area or to help dial in where you want to light up. The controls for the light are very simple and easy to use. There is a power button and a scroll wheel that can be used to change the brightness, and temperature, and toggle the Wi-Fi. I downloaded the Elgato Control Center app which connects your phone to the Key Light Mini and enables you to adjust the light settings from afar. The Key Light Mini can also be connected to a stream deck for convenience. I do wish the light had an option for Bluetooth, but the Wi-Fi does just fine.
The light charges its 4000mAh battery super-fast in just 60 minutes and can be used for up to 4 hours. Up to 800 lumens of high-quality light from perfectly diffused OSRAM LEDs is perfect for illuminating a computer call or a photoshoot. This compact light has a wide color range from 2900-7000k. The light this little light puts out really is perfect and I love how you can easily dial it in for whatever your needs. As little as this light may be, it has a nice heft to it. The body is made from aluminum and has a sweet engraving on the back, I love the way this light looks! What comes in the box is the light itself and a USB-C charging cable. I do wish it came with a little protective bag to store the light and cable in, but the light is so well made and sturdy, that I have no doubt it will be ok when I throw it in a camera bag or backpack.
Overall, I love this new Elgato Key Light Mini!! I think for what you get and the capabilities of this light, it is worth the price and makes photoshoots or web calls so much better. I recommend this product to anyone that needs to illuminate a smaller and close area.

Full size Key Light power, in a tiny little light.

This is an awesome little light. It's surprisingly bright for it's size. It easily puts out as much light as my bigger key lights that plug into wall power, at 1/4 the size. It's nice and simple, and very easy to use. It's pretty intuitive, but I did need to read the instructions to figure out how to adjust a couple of the settings, like how to turn on the WIFI, and how to adjust the color temperature. Getting the app set up on my phone and linking to the key light was a breeze, easily one of the simplest set ups out of any of my recent electronics with apps adventures. The app is nice and simple, well laid out, easy to understand and use. The body is all metal except the light/lens itself, and it's pretty heavy. It was a bit awkward to use on some of my smaller cameras, and my cell phone tripod didn't handle the extra weight very well and kept tilting out of place. I did like the magnetic back on the light which allowed it to stick to metal surfaces, but the little feet are really tiny, and hard plastic feeling... I would've preferred them to be a little larger and have a rubber texture. As they are the light can slide around easily when set down on a hard surface, and I'd hesitate to stick it to anything you might not want to get scratched up. Overall I really like this little light and it is deffinately going in my travel camera gear bag. There are a few things I wish were a little different though. I'm glad they are using a USB C cable to charge with, but I don't like the weird reverse u turn plug they provided. I understand that that is for use when using the light pluggged in, so the cable isn't sticking out, but they could've provided that as an adapter so the cable can be used for other gear and so other USB C cables could be used with the light when it's plugged in etc. I also don't like the trend of new gear not coming with chargers. This light being a prime example, they just assume you will have an extra charger you can use with it and don't provide one. SO other than a couple minor gripes, I would highly recommend this key light for anyone looking for a small portable light that's easy to use, Has adjustable color temperature, and puts off lots of bright light.

Soothing, versatile LED light panel.

The Elgato - Key Light Mini – Portable LED Panel is used for content creation, perfect for vloggers. Personally, I got this light panel mainly for work and use it for Zoom and Teams calls. I have been struggling finding a LED rechargeable panel which puts out a nice field of consistent and configurable light. Since this LED light is edge lit, it is less fatiguing when using it. My other LED panel only was acceptable with using an adhoc light diffuser, otherwise I seared a grid of individual LEDs into my retinas.
The Elgato unit works with other components including the Elgato stream deck control products for professional streamers, vloggers and content producers. Also, it can be synchronized to work with additional LED panels to provide more lumens for your productions. My needs were simpler, put I still liked the ability to control the LED panel by connecting with Wi-Fi and using the Corsair Control Center app, which is available for Windows, iOS and Android. Using the app you can configure the brightness and color temperature of the light. The app also displays some battery metrics and the ability to disable the battery and run strictly off a power adapter, this can help preserve the overall lifespan of the battery.
As for the light panel itself it is well built with battery level and Wi-Fi LED indicators on the back side, as well as a manual control including a rocker toggle switch to change color temp and/or brightness. The light also charges via the USB-C connection on the side of the panel; however, it requires at least a 5 volt, 2.4 amp charging block (not included) to effectively charge it. A standard USB port on a computer or standard cell phone charger will not work. Also, it appears if you turn off the light via the app, Wi-Fi still keeps the unit connected to your Wi-Fi network and will drain the battery. So ensure if you plan on using the light in unplugged mode you use the side power button to physically power it down, otherwise you may wind up with having an uncharged batter when you had fully charged it the night before. off via the side button and not just use the app.
Pros:
- Bright, flawless LED sidelit panel produces a nice light source
- Decent battery life (about 4 hours)
- Battery bypass feature
- Controls for retina burning brightness and soothing color control
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- Well built
- Mount options (magnetic) ¼ inch screw mount.
Cons:
- Need to use a 2.4amp or greater USB charger (not included) to charge or power the LED.
- Power off via the app really just puts it in standby mode, waiting for you to use the app to wake it.
- Not exactly lightweight
- No Bluetooth controls

Good lighting is an essential part of good photography. It allows the subject to reflect it's colors into the lens more clearly with the proper light temperature. The Corsair Elgato flat panel light is small enough to fit in your pocket yet provides amazing brightness of up to 800 lumens. What's great about a flat panel light is focused, non-directional light. What's great about the Elgato is the ability to toggle between light temperature from 2900k to 7000k, from amber to icy blue. The rechargeable battery can last for up to 4hrs at half power.
I really like it's thin, lightweight and sturdy form factor with minimal buttons aside from power and toggle wheel. The light output is intense for it's size and weight. I thought the magnetic mount was a good added feature in case you don't have a 1/4 inch tripod mount available. The important features can be accessed using the click wheel on the side of the unit. Once you turn it on, it's set by default to the brightness control, if you want to change the color temp, you need to double press the wheel in. I feel the lower end of the light spectrum is much less than the listed 2900k and would put it close to 2200k, but the higher end is spot on.
What I don't like is connecting with WiFi instead of Bluetooth to the app on my Android phone. It requires a 2.4Ghz network, so I need to make sure to switch from the 5Ghz default connection on the phone. As soon as you turn on the app, it starts looking for the device. I had no issues with first connection, my issue is holding the connection. It doesn't remember it and automatically connect until the app turns on which takes a good 10-20 seconds, more if you don't switch to the 2.4Ghz connection. The only benefit I can see of having the WiFi connection would be to control it from across the room.
I thought the light panel works great for my needs, though I doubt I will be utilizing the app often. Would be great if it came with cold shoe and tripod mounts in the box, but the long charge cable works fine and has a 90 degree bend so as not to intrude into nearby connections.

Loving my new Elgato key light mini! It’s way brighter then I expected but it does have options to change the level of brightness also has adjustable color temperature. It rechargeable it does come with a cord but no charging usb block but I have tons. And it has a battery light indicator which is very useful it says it lasts 4 hours I feel it lasted a little longer, but it does charge fast which is always great especially when your in a hurry & forgot to charge. hate having stuff & not knowing what the charge is at. You are able to connect to wifi after downloading the app which was quick & easy to set up. The app It gives more lighting control. It has the option to be able to mount it is a magnetic mount. Perfect portable size it’s approx. 6”x4” & less then an inch thick. It’s not super light but not heavy at all less then a pound . Set it up to do my makeup when I traveled out of town for a wedding & lighting wasn’t so good. That was a bonus. I highly recommend if you have limited space to have a big mount works great for a table/desk mount

Perfect for brightening webcam images and video

Bottom Line: The Elgato Key Light Mini accomplishes exactly what it's designed to do: brighten up webcam video / images for streaming and conferencing
Pros: good range of brightness and temperature settings; app is useful for accurate settings; built-in battery meter
Cons: uses WiFi instead of Bluetooth; connection can be finicky
Review: The Elgato Key Light Mini offers a lot of light and features in a small package, and it will definitely improve your webcam video and image performance in low light. Even at its lowest brightness setting, I found that the Mini drastically improved the image quality of the built-in camera on my 16" MacBook Pro without being too bright or distracting.
The Mini has a good range of brightness and temperature settings, and the app helps you dial into the perfect setting for your photos / video. Importantly, with the app, you can make sure that you're using the same settings every time. A nice additional feature is built-in battery meter on the back (5 LEDs), so you have advance warning of when you need to charge the unit before the battery is completing empty.
Connecting the Mini to your smart phone or computer is done through WiFi, which I tend to find less convenient than Bluetooth. In particular, there's definitely more lag time to use when you first turn it on, and when you're away from your home network the WiFi hotspot can be little finicky.
Overall, though, it's a compact and good panel if you need additional lighting at home or when traveling.

Powerful Studio Light in the Palm of Your Hand

The Elgato Key Light Mini is a super powerful LED light, about the size of the largest Cell Phone. Boasting 800 Lumen of light, this is one incredibly powerful light source. Industry-Leading Osram LED's are used exclusively, which mean the light is premium quality.
A simple thumbwheel adjusts the light level up or down in multiple steps. Light color can be changed from a warm white 2,900 to a blue 7000 Degree Kelvin, which is stunning. This color transition is useful to transform inadequate lighting of any undesirable color rendition & luminosity to the best color & ideal brightness that you dial in.
A 1/4 - 20 thread allows easy mounting on a tripod, as well as an internal magnet.
A USB charging cord is included; simply plug the whopping 4000 mAh battery into a fast charging USB to & it delivers 4 Hr. of lighting at 50% brightness.
The built-in Wi-Fi receiver can be controlled by iPhone, Android, or even controlled by a Mac or PC.
CONCLUSION: The Elgato Key Light Mini is a powerhouse, easily upgrading your studio lighting on-the-go to a one-touch light source with dramatic improvement. Highly Recommended.

Great Compact Key Light

I love this compact light! Now that we’re post Covid, I find myself traveling now more and a big part of my business has me webcasting and hosting webinars. This light is compact enough to slip into my messenger bag along with my laptop and take with me wherever I go.
I love that it’s battery powered so I don’t have to drag a bunch of cables around with me. The 4000mah battery keeps the light going for a solid 3-4 hours.
800 Lumen output with a wide color range gives me solid and the “right” lighting regardless of where i am. I also appreciate that it can be mounted on a tri-pod (I carry a couple of compact ones with me-one for my webcam and one for the light).
I haven’t tried it with my stream deck yet, but I am looking forward to trying it out at some point. The build is solid. It’s light enough to carry but it’s clearly built well. Super easy to use and set up. Who knows, I may end up adding this one to my standard desk setup and use it for more than just travel. We shall say. We’ll worth the price.

Portable LED Light with some app opportunity

The Elgato Key Light Mini is a nice, rechargeable/portable LED light for a variety of uses. For the purposes of this review, I used it mainly for photography (still and video) in indoor settings, where lighting is most challenging.
Highlights:
Very nice spread of light.
Very easy to adjust brightness.
Packaged well
Charges quickly
Great size/shape for portability and ease of mounting
Other thoughts:
White balance is, at best, fair. I question whether the kelvin colors are accurate. I don't see dramatic color changes from yellow to blue light.
The connection to WiFi was poor. I had a lot of trouble getting the unit to find our WiFi. Had to leave home where there was other WiFi signals to connect. Once connected, I had to then connect the unit via the app to use the controls. Once I went to a different location, I had to connect their WiFi. Very tricky set up for a self-proclaimed tech nerd.
I would use this as a stand alone unit as an additional lighting source without the app.

A Fine Help for Auxiliary Portable Lighting Needs

Elgato - Key Light Mini – Portable LED Panel
My wife does spend some time with one of her hobbies, photography. I thought this would be a great tool for her to use with photographing people. Also, I use ZOOM to communicate ZOOM in my employment and wife my wife uses ZOOM to communicate as a volunteer.
The product itself seems to be well built without being overly heavy. It would be beneficial in an area where more light was needed for photography or video. In my prior computer location, I was in low light for Zoom meetings. I since have moved my location but this light would have been perfect for it.
The controls are simply - an o[power button and a two position brightness intensity switch. The LED Panel can be controlled by an iOS or Android device or a Windows or Mac computer. I chose to test this feature out on my iPad mini 5. The app does control the LED panel's controls through wi-fi. Wi-fi setup was easy. The Panel itself is charged via a USB connection which is convenient, as well. Therefore, the LCD Panel draws power from the internal battery. I did not test the run time of the battery. The light itself has two different intensities.
The key to getting the right amount of light for photography of video is placement of the LCD Panel. My wife took some pictures and we found the pictures turned out better when the LCD Panel was 4-5 feet from the subject as opposed to 2 feet. Also, with glasses it can be tricky to avoid the glare from the Panel onto the glasses.
The eternal package was attractive, informative and provided protection for the product. The documentation that came with the product was clear and easy to understand. The product could probably be setup without the documentation - it was that easy.
All in all, for people looking for light for photography, video capture or other project this product does what it claims to do very well.

Little light Big Impact

Powerful light in little package. The build quality seems superb. It has a bit of weight to it, and I strongly suggest purchasing a quality stand/tripod for this attachment especially if using it on a device like a cellphone.
It’s easy to operate. It’s self explanatory. It comes with an app and connects via wifi, but there isn’t much more functionality added for the need of the app. The app does provide the ability to enter battery saving mode and Studio mode which will allow you to bypass using the battery and use it while it’s plugged in. The app does make adjusting the settings quicker when it comes to changing the temperature and brightness. But once again the app is unnecessary and unless you have multiple Elgato lights (multiple lights can be controlled in sync or separately with app) it’s not worth the download.
The internal battery life isn’t the greatest but to be expected to run down if light is on brightest setting. However, it doesn’t do well on standby either. I fully charged it, played around with it for an hour and a half, that time drained battery to 4 bars, left it off and on my desk for 4 days while on vacation, came back and the battery level had two bars remaining. I highly suggest keeping it plugged in while recording video instead of using internal battery. It does full charge pretty fast.
This light is killer though. It is extremely bright and gets to a good dim brightness as well. No matter the level it still fills the room with its glow. The diffuser is not removable, but honestly speaking you wouldn’t want to. It’s THAT bright. It’s a quality and very functional key light for on the go vlogging, gaming, photos, etc. I highly suggest giving this one a try, and save yourself buying a cheaper one to have to come back to this one anyway. Trust me. My other one (which has been demoted to backup) does not even compare to the high quality output and build that Elgato put into their Key Light Mini.

THE BAD
~ Horrible phone app
~ Horrible computer program
~ Horrible firmware
THE MEH (could go either way)
~ USB-C
~ No charging block
OVERALL
I was very excited at the opportunity to test this and use it. Although I need it for twitch and work conference calls, I also wanted to try it with my camera. I enjoy photography. A lot of what I do is close and sometimes macro.
When I first took it out and went to plug it in, I accidentally turned it on and almost blinded myself. It was very bright. The onboard controls are relatively simple. There's a power button and a toggle wheel that can be pressed, and a reset hole. If you don't have a SIM card key or such for a cellphone, go get one or have something like it handy. You will need it A LOT if you try to use any of their software.
I downloaded the app, connected the light to my wifi and began to change the light temperature. The first thing I noticed was the app, which only has a slider for temp and a slider for brightness lagged far behind my motions. I moved the alider to the warmest setting and it moved about halfway. Then I had to keep swiping about 8 or 9 times to move it over slowly. During this time, the app periodically told me the light wasn't on the wifi network and didn't exist. Then it would suddenly reconnect. I tried to move the brightness slider and had similar results. Then the light completely vanished and several searches later, I had to reset the light (as instructed by the FAQ...apparently this happens a lot).
A few minutes later, I had to reset it again. I gave up on the app. It's awful.
I downloaded the program for my computer. The light connected (after another reset). The program told me I needed to update the firmware. I did, hoping this would fix the wifi issue. It disconnected the light from the wifi, forcing me to reset it again. As soon as it was found again, I went to settings and it disconnected. Another reset. It found it and then immediately lost it.
The light itself is good as long as you don't want to get it on your wifi or change the temp setting via computer or phone app. The light is nicely diffused and surprisingly bright when turned up all the way. You can change temp and brightness with the toggle wheel, but it doesn't seem as variable.
The big question is always: would I recommend this to someone?
Absolutely not. I hate saying that, but I couldn't, in good conscience, suggest this to anyone. It is too unpredictable and glitchy.
If they can ever get the software and wifi issues worked out, I would reconsider the question.
I gave it 3 stars because the light itself is usable for me, just as a flashlight would be. The light and magnet are good. Everything else is awful.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It it did the dishes too I would need to find a way to give it 6 stars!
This little light really has it all. It produces even diffused light that gives a very nice look to the illuminated area. This really makes it a space saving device as I would rarely need any additional diffusing material such as an umbrella etc... It has a standard tripod mount on the bottom so you can use your existing equipment to position it as you please. The cord is a USB C and has a custom end that keeps the it to the back. The internal battery is rated at 2 hours at 50% and I have gotten over an hour at 100% power. But it doesn't stop there! The back is magnetic adding to the mounting options. The controls are easy to operate but the thing that really makes me happy about this product is the app works on your phone and computer. You can dial in the Kalvin light temp exactly to ensure accurate manual white balance. This is a great product for the price and I would highly recommend for the beginner and pro alike. Enjoy creating!

This would be a 4.5 stars. It’s a really good small footprint light.
Let’s start with the pros:
Brightness - for a small footprint it very bright really surprised how bright
Battery - I really only have used it in video conferencing however cover most of them with easy and recharge is pretty quick
Ease if use - there are a number of features that make this very easy to set up and use. Lots of features that you would find on larger more expensive lights
And did I mention that it’s portable!
Now the cons:
Honestly I wish it was a bit brighter- I know I listed that as a pro and it truly is for the size however in a perfect world I found a couple of time that I needed something just a bit brighter that this could provide
Connection - this is the main issue I had with the light and really the o ot reason it’s not a five star review. It connects via WiFi and when it works it’s great when it doesn’t it frustrating at best. There were a few time that I had to do at least one power cycle to get it to connect.
My overall impression is for the money this is a great little light. Is it studio quality of coarse not however for most applications the average person will find it more than enough features and light. I would recommend this to others
