If you read the book you will find the movie stays relatively close. However, it is not possible to get it all in one movie so some changes will be evident. Reading the book will certainly help understand why events happened like they did. Although their roles were not crucial to the plot, Ender's brother and sister also play a greater part in the book. Despite the differences, the movie was very entertaining.

I never read the source material, and I've been told the movie pails in comparison. The special effects were well done, and the story held my interest for the length of the film and had some interesting moral implications at the end. I thought the film was adequate. My teenagers consider it one of their favorites. Maybe I was not the target audience, but I still found it enjoyable.

Having read the Orson Scott Card book several times in the last two decades, I was a bit apprehensive about watching this movie adaptation. Overall, I think it is an excellent adaptation. Some of the underlying elements in the book are excluded, which may leave some viewers scratching their heads as to the purpose of certain events in the development of Ender's character. All in all, a very entertaining movie to watch. The special effects are seamless and bring Ender's world to life.

Ender's Games was a seminal book in my middle school. Now this is a movie that has earned its place on my Blu-ray shelf. The movie does a good job of taking the long story of ender's journey from five year old to hero if earth. I like that they just made ender a 14 y/o and didn't have to worry about finding several different actors. At the end of the day this is a great sci-fi independent movie (yes this is and independent movie) whit great acting and special effects.

I bought this movie after not having a chance to see the movie when it came out. I had heard hit and miss thing about the movie from friends and relatives. I read the book a year ago and like it but always thought it would have came across better as a movie. It did just that it is a great movie and I was not let down at all. If you like the book and story this is a movie for you. If you have never read the book but like the Sci-fi and good character story you will like this movie.

Future world at war with INSECTOID CREATURES, thought to be NIHILISTIC, and when they are nearly destroyed are found to be quit intelligent and sensative. Young Masters in this case lead by ENDER are fooled into making the final brutal victory, and Ender sets off to make amends with the LAST EGG of this species. SEQUAL seems evident.

I really enjoyed the novel on which this movie is based many moons ago and I wondered why it took so long to make it to the big screen. My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and I think there are some definite conversation starters for old and young in several themes and conflicts raised in the movie, in particular with Ender's reaction near the end. I also really liked the kid actors handling some complex issues. Beyond that, I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Really captures how fear takes over the so called great leaders of the world and make them do very questionable things. No intention or attempt of communication from the human race towards the aliens. Humans were so focus and determined to rage war against these aliens the the how didn't matter, just get it done. Didn't matter what they were losing. Eliminate the threat at any cost.

Pretty good 4k transfer, could use better darks

Just as the description says, great on the brightness, not so much on the darks with this particular movie. This was watched with an Xbox one s console, on an LG oled display, calibrated of course. It has its moments where the darks are pretty good, but overall they could be a shade darker, including the bars on the top and bottom of the screen.

I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. Its one of those films that 10-12 year old me would have loved and watched over and over. For 40+ year old me, I still really enjoyed it, but I don't think it will get the repeat views that a younger me would have given it. Still, highly recommended for the younger crowd who can root for a young hero.

Ender's Game is a fantastic movie...especially in Blu-ray. On occasion, I still buy the Blu-ray disc, with the DVD (give that to my mom) and put the Ultraviolet copy in my VUDU collection. Now I can pop in the Blu-ray in the media room or actually watch the Ultraviolet copy from another room or while traveling (on my laptop or iPad).
Too bad my dog ate the Blu-ray plastic cover two hours after bringing it home and laying it on the coffee table. Uggghhhh

This movie really surprised me. The trailers were really intriguing but I did not expect much going into it. But as the movie progressed, I found myself increasing engrossed in the storyline. Towards the end, the progression were somewhat obvious, nevertheless it was still very well done. The special effects were remarkable and nothing short of amazing, especially in this day and age, where CG is quite breathtaking. So it takes a lot to be impressive.

I made the mistake of reading the book a week or 2 before the movie came out, so I sat there watching and waiting for all my favorite moments... Which was good for the moments they hit right and left me like "what? why didn't they that put that in there?!?" for the others. But overall I think fans of the book should definitely see this big screen version.

The film is a nice adaptation of the book; it helps to read the book first so that you can better understand some of what's going on in the plot. The 4K resolution is dramatic - check out the first battle-room scene, note the details of the earth in the background and the reflections on Ender's helmet visor.

I am a longtime fan of the Ender's Game books. While I appreciate the attempt to honor the text of the book I think they missed some of the spirit. Harrison Ford, Viola Davis, Ben Kingsley all do great; Asa Butterfield was a little underwhelming at times. The CGI, sets, and music were all well done. All in all a great scifi flick you can watch with the family.

Too bad there was controversy about the author of the book this was based on because it was a decent movie. The dark themes may not be everyone's cup of tea but I found it thoughtful. And while the author is known for homophobia, there is no indication of that in the movie or its themes that I could discern. Also enjoyed seeming Harrison ford in a sci if once again

We enjoyed watching this movie at home one Friday evening. There was good character development and personal conflict the main character had to deal with. Visually it was an appealing movie. We enjoyed the futuristic setting and special effects. We discussed having our children view the movie in order to have important moral and values conversations with them.

Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game has finally become a movie. This is a very good adaptation; the script, acting, and special effects are all excellent. My only complaint is that the story is too-rushed; to do it proper justice, it should have been a 3-hour movie, something you can't do unless your are Peter Jackson or Martin Scorcese! But the screen-writers do a good job of compression, and the main points of the story come through clearly..
