It’s my first projector so exited and enjoying the Epson short throw LS500B projector. It has nice 4K picture quality bright enough in not so dark room next to the window. I’ve got it 3 days back so not yet installed screen (in the picture attached below). Happy with output on wall but except the brightness to get enhanced with grey non light reflecting screen. Few drawbacks though it does not have optical Audio output so I may need a AVR and price range seems higher but it comes with the grey screen so works good.

The detail in the picture and luminous vibrancy of the image are stunning. Everyone who has seen it so far has had the same reaction: “It’s like being at the movies!” The projector is unobtrusive and runs very quietly, and the accuracy and proportions of the picture are perfect, even though the unit sits only a foot and a half away from the screen. Best Buy Geek Squad set it up flawlessly, and I could not be more pleased.

Great purchase!! Took a while to get here but definitely worth the wait. Great picture clarity. Set up was a little challenging. Probably should’ve been a little more patient and waited on Geek Squad.

I received my Epson LS500 more than a month ago. Be prepared to receive a huge box at home! Very well packed comes the 120” screen and projector. I personally watched some very good Epson videos (available on YouTube) to learn how to set it up. Projector installation is straight forward but for the screen, you will need some time. Not so difficult to set up, but I would recommend doing it with some help. In my case I had some issues with the installation as my wall wasn’t big enough for the 120” screen, so I had to do some adjustments and sacrifice a couple of tension springs to make it work, and it did. It was worth every minute after I was done. I think it is important to notice that the projector needs to sit at a not small distance from the wall so finding the proper furniture can be a bit challenging. I added a picture with the corresponding distances depending on the size of the projection you want. The fine tuning of the projected image on the screen is crucial. I was initially a bit frustrated trying to focus the top corners of the screen (specially letters). This was my first experience with an Ultra Short Throw so I learned that I was demanding something that was physically hard to achieve because of the angle of projection and how vertical you can get your screen to be. Once you put a movie on you will never notice this issue as your attention goes towards the center of the screen and the focus is as uniform as you need. I did spend some time playing around with Keystone and corner adjustment for fitting the image precisely in the screen. At the end of the day I restore it to factory settings and just blanked up a portion of the top screen where I was having some overspray. Picture brightness is just incredible. I placed the projector in a space with some windows that let natural light in plus ceiling led lights. Image brightness and quality are impressive even with all lights on. The absorbing light screen (UST ALR screen) does a fantastic job with this. I tested the projector for almost a month without the screen, shooting just on a plain white wall. I loved it, but I could notice that with natural light the image brightness was not enough. However, I have to say it was still surprising how good the picture quality is. The level of contrast and brightness just makes you forget you are using a projector. With lights on, the black level suffers making it no so not good for dark scenes and shadows. That’s the compromise of having a nice picture with ambient light. With lights off, the contrast ratio improves considerably. Projector comes with an Android TV stick that you can install in a hidden compartment in the projector. I had some issues as I couldn’t watch live sports on Hulu, but I updated the system software and Hulu app and it worked like a breeze. Just for fun I tested with and Amazon Fire TV stick, which also fits perfectly inside the front compartment and works no problem. It also comes with 2 remote controls one for both projector and the Android TV and the other just for the Epson Android TV stick in case you decide to use it with another device. In color modes and image adjustments I’m just using factory default parameters. Bright Cinema color mode works OK for me. For sports, I sometimes switch to Dynamic mode to pump up brightness. On the cons side, the incorporated speakers are just not at the level of the rest that the projector provides. I recommend you make sure you have a proper audio system to connect to this machine before even turning it ON otherwise it won’t be fair for the projector. Epson is very upfront about this, and I am very glad I knew this ahead of time. I would qualify this product as a full experience. The image quality is just the best I have seen from a projector, the 120-inch screen size makes you feel like you are in the movie and it does make a big difference compared to any “big” Led or Oled screens available in the market. I would highly recommend the product, just make sure you have enough space for it, and make sure you pair it with a good sound system and enjoy!!!

    Better than expected

Going 120” is a point of no return, 55 TV OUT, LS500 120-inch IN I was interested in upgrading my 55-inch TV to a bigger one. I started looking at TV options and noticed that they cap at around 85-inch and then prices sky rocket. I came across the concept of Laser TV, which uses a projector to get to much bigger sizes. So this triggered my interest and I started doing lots of research, because I wanted something with no compromises. I was initially concerned about having to dim the room, running wires, figuring out a screen and not having enough performance for gaming, which are typical concerns with projectors solutions. But the Epson LS500 checked all the boxes, with an impressive brightness level, and ultra-short throw design, an included screen optimally designed for the projector and with an outstanding gaming performance. I decided for the 120-inch version, which according to my math is 4.75 times bigger than my previous 55-inch TV, and 2x bigger than the 85-inch. There were definitely some things I needed to care of to get this massive 120-inch screen installed. I had to re-center the soundbar obviously, check the screen would fit on my wall especially because of ceiling height, find a piece of furniture that worked and looked well and even re-locate an air conditioning vent that would have been covered by the screen. That already was a lot of work, I’m not going to lie, plus building and setting up the screen requires patience and time if you want to get it perfect. But believe me, all the work I did was 1000% worth it, this thing looks much better in real life than in videos, it exceeded my expectations, and I couldn’t be happier. My gaming experience on my Xbox is incredible, I don’t perceive any lag at all, and my kids are happy playing Fortnite. Watching soccer games together like we do now is something we didn’t even know was possible. My wife is happy too, movies and TV series look awesome! It makes us forget we are in our living room. The LS500 redefined the entertainment experience at home.

This is a review for the Epson 120” EpiqVision Ultra LS500 Short Throw Laser Projection TV that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. A normal TV just can’t compare to what a projector can do to its audience. My wife, who is not a fan of technology simply said “wow” when we called her after getting it setup. The 120-inch screen completely gives the room a makeover. From the first night that the projector was set up, I immediately stated thinking of events where I could have people over and show off my new room. Painting the wall with TV shows, movies, YouTube videos, and video games changes my home. Setting up the projector is not as easy as simply plopping down a standard TV, but the experience isn’t either. While, the projector does have an incredibly short throw, to get to the full 120-inch, it did need to come a bit farther off the wall than I had expected and we will need to rethink the furniture situation for that room. But this short throw eliminates one of my main gripes with previous long-throw projection systems I’ve tried – having someone cross in front of the projection. With the ultra-short throw, the projector sits nicely at the front of the room with zero room to walk in front of the projection. It isn’t just the size of the screen that impress, but the colors are vivid, the details sharp and the contrast incredible. It feels like whatever we put on the screen was popping off. I noticed that with a regular TV, the light emits in a directional approach yet with the projector, the light was pointed toward the wall providing a greater field of view. The screen was easy to put together. The frame consisted of four main rails with connectors that were held together with two screws at each corner. The screen itself folds over the frame and a bunch of spring clips connect between the screen and, after folding over the outer edge clip to the inside edge of the frame. While a tool was provided for this, we used out fingers to stretch the springs between the screen and the frame. The projector had controls to zoom (came defaulted to it’s widest setting) adjust the horizontal and vertical keystone, and a move setting that came in handy. Epson included an Android streaming device but I opted to use my existing Apple TV eliminating the need to learn a new system or interface. A nice sound system or sound bar is a must for a complete experience, but the projector does come with it’s own built-in speakers. 4k on the projector feels like it’s way better than 4k would be on the TV. This may be due to the very large screen that the projector puts out, but it instantly made my 65-inch TV look wimpy. While the projector and screen look great with the lights on, a surreal immersion happens with the lights out and the right show or movie.

    Reinvents the home theater

So, the first thing you want to know about the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS500 Laser Projection TV - 120" is that it is not a traditional projector – it is way better. In fact, it is not even fair to the Epson to compare it to traditional projectors. Traditional projectors like the one my family uses in our home theater require an almost perfectly dark room to operate. The Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS500 can operate in practically any light. We have our Epson EqipVision setup on a wall opposite 24 feet of floor to ceiling windows and adjacent to a wall with an eight-foot patio door and the picture Epson produces in the room on a clear blue day is better than a flat screen TV. For example, there is no reflection of the bright outdoor light as you would see with a flat screen TV and the image is clear and bright. Epson marketing photos show the EpiqVision in a bright room adjacent to windows, and I must admit I was dubious but sure enough the Epson EpiqVision produces a clear, bright image even in a bright room. Plus, the picture is good from nearly every angle, Epson says 178 degrees and I can’t argue with them as everywhere in the room the picture looks great. We have had the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS500 Laser Projection TV setup for about a week and absolutely love the device. Let me count the reasons: 1. Super bright picture with incredibly high picture quality. My photos were taken in the middle of the day, and you can see that the picture quality is incredible. Black is dark, not a shade of grey absolutely amazing. 2. Built-in stereo sound. Most projectors will have a single speaker if they have sound at all, the Epson has dual speakers facing the viewers and they sound great. If that doesn’t meet your audio needs, you can connect to a Bluetooth speaker or use the audio out or HDMI ports to connect to an amplifier 3. AndroidTV is makes for a truly smart TV. SmartTV’s have been around for a long time but AndroidTV is far superior as you can now install any application available in the Android Play Store and you are not prohibited the the apps that the TV manufacture has adopted. Our experience with flat screen TV’s is you have only a limited number of apps that are available for your TV. AndroidTV has a massive marketplace for video, audio, infotainment, and games 4. Easy to setup. My husband and I took a time lapse video of the screen setup, and it took less than 20 minutes to unbox and setup the projection screen 5. The projector and screen are perfect for 4K movies: We have tried Netflix, and Disney + and the video quality is amazing. 6. Perfectly matched for gaming: My son connected his Xbox One S to it for a 10- foot Fortnite match – what a blast! We even connected our old Wii and played double tennis – the huge screen makes it all that more fun. A note regarding installing the screen. Epson provides hardware for installing the screen permanently to a wall with up to 8 bolts. This would be fine in a dedicated home theater room but for those that do not want to put holes in their walls we discovered a solution – 3M Command Strips. We purchased 10 7.5-pound Jumbo Utility Hooks and placed eight at the top of the screen and two at the bottom. It took less than 3 minutes to hang the screen on the wall. No need for drilling holes, easy to reposition the screen higher, lower, or side-to-side, and gives you the freedom to move the screen to another room without any hassle. If Epson’s product people read this, try it for your self the 3M hooks work perfect. We had planned on using the projector in our home theater room that was built in the mid 2000’s. Problem for us was that we had no power outlets on the wall at the front of the room, and all of our cables were pulled back to an amplifier in the back of the room. For us to use the EpiqVision in our home theater we would have had to upgrade the audio system in the room and bury the electrical cord along a wall. (A project for my husband some other day!) The beauty is that we found that there is another way to watch movies where we don’t have to be stuck in a dark room like mushrooms. I will close with this, technology has evolved how we consume content. The need for dedicated dark home theater room for a cinematic experience is dulled when a smart phones, tablets, and flat screen TV’s can bring just about any movie you. The Epson EpiqVision LS500 brings the home theater out of the windowless basement and allows you to have a big screen experience in just about any room you have the room. Best projector for a home theater!

The Epson LS500W is one of the best products I’ve had the chance to put my hands on. Disclaimer: I was fascinated with an Epson regular throw projector that I was using before the LS500, so I was able to compare. Using a traditional projector for the past 2 years has been amazing. During the start of the pandemic it was a lifesaver, considering that there was no chance of going to an actual movie theater. Once the LS500 arrived I was curious to see if it could be better than the last one. My original projector was a traditional long throw projector with 2500 lumens. It was on the opposite side of the room projecting against a big white wall we have available. It wasn’t ideal since it was placed in front of a window but it worked very nicely at night. One of the main problems was that we were forced to make our space as dark as possible to really get the full experience. We had a 145-inch picture projected on the wall. I was hesitant about the smaller picture size of the LS500 when contacted about reviewing it. The box is huge, but surprisingly the contents still fit in the apartment building elevator, although it took some effort to get it up here. The big box holds the boxes of the projector itself and the screen. The screen is what makes the box so long, but once you take it apart, you realize that it’s not that carrying the items inside is really easy. I was so excited that I set up the projector without the screen first, and projected on the same wall I have been using all this time. From the get go it was amazing. Deeper colors, more light and sharper than what I was used to. I believe that the extra 1500 lumens in brightness is what makes the difference Building the screen took about two hours and I had a little help from my friends. We used a template posted on Epson's website and projected it on the wall with the projector, and that helped us calculate precisely where to drill. After setting up the frame of the screen we easily managed to get the screen material attached to it. Bottom line is that you definitely need help so you don’t ruin anything in the process. The screen isn’t heavy but two people are required to get it done. Once the screen is installed, the magic begins. After setting up the screen a friend (who wasn’t part of the process) entered the room and immediately said: How is that TV so big? And that’s the main point. With the screen attached to the wall it truly feels like a giant TV. The brightness and depth of color makes it feel like an actual 120 inch tv screen. I’ve had the unit for two entire weeks. And at first I’ll confess that the screen size difference between what I had before was a concern. But once I actually started using it on a daily basis, it’s been a complete transformation. We can watch tv during the day, before this we had to either use a computer to watch tv or actually turn on our "tiny" 55"tv in our bedroom. The alternative to achieve a larger size was the regular throw projector, but the living room needed total darkness to actually be able to enjoy what was on. The LS500W changed all that. It is definitely brighter to start with, and the special short throw screen allows us to watch, immersively, anything at any time of the day. Watching movies is a delight, the 4K is truly awesome. It is very sharp; watching both new or old movies feels amazing. This has definitely elevated our own personal movie theater at home experience. . The screen gives the entire experience a more premium feeling to it. I simply could not go back to a regular TV nor to a washed out picture. Playing video games on it is something outstanding. Playing on the PS5 in 4K at 60fps in high demanding frame rates works beautifully. Playing online requires the image to be as fast as possible to be competitive in the game and it works. Between the quality of the projector and the advancement in video game quality it sometimes feels like you're watching outside through a window. I was prepared to have a list of cons about the product, but it turns out that the benefits totally compensate for any drawback.. If you have limited space and want to have a premium experience, this is your product. Just inches away from your wall you can get a 120 monster image. And the thing is, that once you plug this thing on and start watching, you’ll simply won’t be able to go back. We recently went back to a commercial theater, and this is a quote from my wife: ‘’why does the movie screen feel so small?’’ It’s because you’re now used to the giant one we have back home. You will find cheaper options around, traditional projectors that you have to place in the back of the room and point to a screen and a wall, but the truth is that you won’t find one with this power in lumens/Brightness. You’ll get used to turning it on even in broad daylight and watching anything, it is definitely an everyday system. You can even leave it on with screensavers during the day and it feels like a framed painting. This is a review for the Epson 120” EpiqVision Ultra LS500 Short Throw Laser Projection TV that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Very Good 4K projector / Screen package. The Picture quality is great. The ALR screen looks good as a TV. There is some light in my room through my blinds but that didn't affect the picture quality at all. The Android TV Stick comes with the projector has all the apps I need and so no need for me to connect any external streaming device. The draw back I can see for now is the distance between the wall and the projector is more even though it says ultra short throw. Also I am not able to find a good cover to protect this as I am afraid little kids might change the settings or position. Overall it was vey good and does it's job well as mentioned in the Spec.

Product is great but it did not work for us because of how far it sits away from the wall. Trying to find a cabinet for less than $2k is tough. My wife said she did not want one that sat 30" away from the wall because of how big the cabinet looks. The actual projector is good though. Do better research than I did before buying it.
