excellent photo printer for the enthusiast

Yes, you can get better overall image quality with a higher end pigment printer but these generally run at least triple the price of this printer. The one possible drawback to this printer is that it uses only one black color, while the Pixma pro 100 uses one black and two greys, so if you do a lot of black and white printing, you might consider that printer (or a higher end pigment printer). But, I have found that printing B&W on matte paper produces outstanding prints for home use (I probably wouldn't sell a B&W print made on this printer). I have owned this printer for several years now, and have been satisfied with every print. No clogging issues despite often not printing for 3-4 months at a time. Colors are vivid and have lasted well, even with several prints on the wall in my house that are in significant sunlight. I have found printing via WiFi to be erratic, and print via USB. Definitely worth the price.
