I usually buy Canon and HP. This time my Canon 7720 photo printer had irredeemable streaks in the black photo printing. The replacement Canon printer seemed very flimsy, so I looked at Epson for the first time. I am please I did. This XP7100 has a lot of features in a compact space It has a fold away ADF. A document feed at the back. Two paper trays at the front. The unit is relatively sturdy. The output paper tray extends and retracts automatically. It has a photo black cartridge as well as a bigger general use black one. Setting up the printer was fairly easy, even connecting to print directly from mobile devices and to use the Epson cloud. I have an email address for the printer. Print quality is good so far. I did have a problem with scanning a photo with a white border. The scan started at the beginning of the image but extended to show the white border on the other three sides, thus making reprints at full photo size unsatisfactory. It took me all morning to add a border to a photo and print it to look balanced. The scanner still started at the beginning of the image. I don't know how to fix the scanning by the Epson scanner.

This printer has good quality printing but the colors are a bit muted or dark in some cases. Remote printing from wireless or mobile devices is working well after a couple of hiccups. The automatic flip out/in control screen and paper tray positioning is not how I would do it, and has gotten 'stuck' a couple times and needed finessing, but it keeps the printer's footprint fairly compact if you have limited desk/shelf space. I haven't tried printing photos yet, so I can't rate that feature at this time. Nor do I have faxing capability to be able to review that function. Straight copying from an existing document is acceptable.

Only ever really bought Epson and a lot of good and bad reviews on there printers.
To me i feel they are good quality printer, there print quality is probably the best on color, photos always looked great on Glossy Paper. Most will say they are ink hogs, not sure how others are at this though !!
This printer is a step up from my older XP-600. Like to have an all-in-one printer. Works great with black and white speeds it trays open and close automatically is nice feature.
WiFi works well with all even Apple products, iphone,ipad,etc..
Automatic scan and copy feature also nice, put paper in a top guide it automatically takes in scans and prints a copy, pretty quick.
Ink has not changed much in years for price for these printers and would not suggest aftermarket companies for ink unless printer is real old, past warranty.
All in all great printer for the price, worth it.

My HP photo printer died (only had it for about 3 years of moderate use). Decided on this Epson to get away from HP and also since this is compact enough to fit in my alcove. Surprised to see how the printer output tray deploys outward in a transformer-like fashion. The control panel also automatically tilts out so you can see the display better which is a good size and clear. Print quality is decent for both photo and standard color printing and the ability to print and scan both sides of a document is rather astounding in such a compact printer. I'd give it 5 starts but the ink is so expensive for this model so i had to deduct one.

I love my new printer. Does not take up a lot of space - cute and compact with a bang. It is very easy to use and makes excellent color copies. The colors are very vibrant. The pages print very fast. Easy to load paper and ink cartridges. Would definitely recommend it.

Great Little Printer, Works Good on Fabric

I was looking for a smaller size (and inexpensive) Epson printer to replace my 11 year old Epson. The primary need was a feed slot in the back for fabric. This printer fit the bill. It took a few tries to figure out the best way to print on fabric sheets, but it's a 100% improvement from my old Epson for fabric printing! For the price and size of the printer, it's a nice crisp picture and text on my fabric, with no bleeding of the ink. The paper sheet feed on top for copies pulls the pages in straight, and the 2 sided printing works great too. The only complaint is the paper tray is shallow and doesn't hold alot of paper. But for what I use the printer for, it hasn't been a problem.

Replaced Epson 730 after 5 years, needed printer with excellent photo capability. This improves on the 730, easier setup, multi load scanner, and a SEPARATE photo black cartridge. ...should make the black last longer. Terrific quality printouts, seems quieter and sturdier than old printer....a definite recommend!

This by far is the best printer for your home office, or for a students dorm. Its small, compact inwhich it doesn't take up a lot of space. Replacing the inks is very easy as well as printing labels.

I was a bit surprised, as even as this printer came out of the box I feared that putting it together and other setup was going to be tedious.
It was not tedious at all. Came together quickly.
Setup for my wireless network was easy.
Printing is easy and fast and top quality.
I would prefer a multi-ink cartridge for the colors, however.

I love my printer and this new one is a replacement of the previous one I had for the last 6 yrs. The color photos are beautiful and it prints quickly. I use it for my personal household use such as MS office projects printing papers and pictures. I also print budget sheets. I replaced my old printer with exactly the same model printer since I enjoyed the older model so much. The printer is very easy to setup and use.

This is the first time owning a Epson and so far the experience has been really good. The setup was really easy and straight forward. The quality is pretty good, I haven't printed any photo's yet to see the quality of that feature yet and I don't know about how many print jobs I can do before the ink runs out. Overall this seems to be a solid printer.
