Very bright and very easy to operate. Great deal for the price. only complaint is that its "4k enhanced" not a true 4k. Picture is still fantastic but the verbage is a little misleading.

I've had the Epson Home Cinema 4000 3LCD for a week, and so far, I've been very impressed with its performance. At a basic level, this projector is a 1080p projector. Yes, it does accept a 4K input, but it's only going to apply some processing and downscale the image to 1080p. I honestly don't know how much of a difference it makes to do this rather than watch content in 1080p, but if you're looking for a projector that displays at a native 4K resolution, you may want to look elsewhere. Despite this, the image is very clear. I have multiple 4K displays in the house, and I don't feel any bit dissatisfied with the image quality I experience with this projector. Keep in mind, I'm projecting onto a 135" screen. The Home Cinema 4000 3LCD also boasts 2200 lumens of brightness as well as HDR. I personally run on ECO mode to save power and reduce the noise from the fan, but your desired settings may differ from mine. In my case, my home theater is in the basement, where it's darker, so I don't need to set the projector's brightness so high. I found that the HDR settings were mostly a miss for me. Some of the settings overexposed whites and really washed out images, while other HDR settings were way too dark. I found that leaving HDR on "Auto" yielded the best results that didn't have washed up whites nor overly dark blacks. There are quite a few settings to allow you to calibrate color and sharpness, but I have left those mostly intact. Instead, I changed the color mode to Dynamic and have been happy with that. The setup process is quite simple, and in my case, I did not ceiling mount the projector. I was able to put the projector in the corner of my room (offset from the center of my screen), and use the projector's lens shift feature to offset the projection, the zoom feature to resize the projection, and the keystone feature to warp the projection to get a perfect square. In terms of latency, I had no issues playing my Nintendo Switch with this projector. I was able to have a very enjoyable experience with excellent detail and sharpness without experiencing delay that hampered my gaming experience. Additionally, 4K content from my 4K Sony Blu Ray player (whether YouTube or 4K Blu Rays) looked great and delivered an experience that I was very happy with. The biggest downside of this projector is that you pay quite a bit for a projector that isn't natively 4K. There are projector options coming very soon that are supposed to deliver an excellent 4K experience near the same cost. If you don't care for 4K content and just want a decent projector, this Epson won't do you wrong. However, it's possible that it's not the best value for a 1080p projector, but it certainly delivers a great cinematic experience, regardless of the price.

We considered purchasing this projector or a 4k TV for our media room. Very pleased with the decision to go with the projector, as it has similar quality to the 4k TV, but with much larger viewing size (fills our media room wall).

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this projector. I had been holding off on buying another TV since my two boys have broken two of them in my man cave and I wasn't thrilled with the possibility that I was sending another one to the slaughter. I had planned to mount the new one on the wall like i should have to begin with. Then this projector became available and I think it will solve my problem. I will admit, i didn't know much about projectors before getting this, so I did some research online and spoke to some sales people at my local Best Buy. It came in a plain brown box that was much bigger than I thought it would be. This projector weighs over 22 lbs and is pretty wide. Unboxing was easy enough and it comes with a remote with the batteries and some HDMI clamps. I plugged this into my Dish Box and then an optical cable from the box to my receiver. I was waiting to receive the projector before i bought a mount and other accessories, so i put the projector on a bar height table that i moved behind a couch in my man cave and turned it on. After playing with some settings and adjusting the focus, I turned the projector and that is where i fell in love. I haven't bought a screen yet because the research i have done says there are so many options for size, features, etc, that I decided to just wait until i set it up and then get one. I have 20' wall that is painted a neutral tan that I projected the image onto. I couldn't have been more surprised at the clarity and refresh of the projector. There was no noticeable lag and the image was very impressive for it being on a wall as opposed to a screen. I adjusted the legs to make the picture straight and even played with moving the projector closer to the wall and further back to see what size picture works best for me. It has multiple adjustments to frame size, focus, color, you name it. It does not have wireless built-in, but it seems you can buy a dongle that will make it wireless. There are also no instructions that come with it, other than a quick start guide. It has a CD-Rom that has the instructions on it. This doesn't do much good if you have a laptop without a CD drive, but I was able to manage. The only things left for me to do is buy a screen, mount and cut some holes in my walls to add an outlet where I am going to mount the projector and run the HDMI cable through the ceiling to the area behind my receiver. My wife wasn't exactly thrilled to hear that, but being that I am the king of my man cave and because she said I could, i am going to break out the electrical tools and get to work. As I said, this in my first projector, but so far I couldn't be happier with it. Keep in mind that there is no separate audio connection for this projector. You will have to use the HDMI cable and plug it into a receiver in order to get audio or you can do as i stated in the second paragraph. I would definitely recommend this projector.

Got this for Christmas and set it up with a Yamaha home theater in a box fairly easily. Projects movies and games onto an approximately 9’x16’ screen with good image quality. Researched it and seems to be living up to the good reviews.

I've had a number of ever-increasing quality Epson projectors. 3450, 3020, and now 4000 (with some lesser models in there as well). This is by far the best picture. Also the most convenient thanks to the remote motorized focus, picture size, AND lens shift. Also, the unprecedented lens shift. You can point this projector at one wall and lens-shift it to another wall! The picture quality is amazingly beautiful. But getting 4k HDR images to it is a challenge. I had to purchase a new $500 Sony amp (STRDN1080) that provided HDR passthrough along with 4k. I upgraded my PS4 to a PS4 Pro, but THE PS4 PRO DOESN'T SUPPORT HDR on this projector. If you check the specs of the projector, you'll see that it only support 4k HDR at 24Hz. You won't be able to find the PS4 Pro 4k specs but I'll tell you here, it's 60Hz. So when the PS4 Pro is connected to this projector, your choices are 1080p HDR at 60Hz or 4k SDR at 60Hz. It's not easy to control the output from the PS4 so basically leave it on auto resolution, auto HDR, and you'll get 4k gaming but NOT HDR with this projector. Apple TV 4K is a better story. The Apple TV 4K lets you choose the resolution, HDR and refresh. And it supports 4k, HDR, 24Hz. The only goofy thing is you have to reset it constantly (on the Apple TV 4k). Every time you move from different inputs back to the Apple TV, or change audio settings, it resets the resolution to 1080p, SDR, 60Hz. It is important to know this is a HUGE projector. I had the 3020 prior to this one, which was one of the largest in the Epson lineup. I naively though "how much bigger can it be?" The answer is almost twice as large as the 3020! vaVOOM! The picture is stunning, and if you somehow manage to get a 4K signal to it, and even better a 4k HDR signal (24Hz only), you should be blown away. I can't imagine any projector available today for under $10,000 will produce a picture like the 4000. Even if you keep everything at 1080p and don't waste so much life energy pursuing the elusive 4k golden ring, the upscaled picture is still amazing.

Having an older HDTV from Sony, I wasn't ready for the upgrade in picture and color that this projector would provide. It is awesome. First though the device is large, I was shocked at how large it ended up being. You will need a good size sturdy table or strong ceiling bracket to hold this projector. Epson was serious with this, and it feels solid. Once I found a good temporary home, still working out a permanent one as I misjudged the overall size, I got this device setup and a good HDMI 2.0b cable from my XBOX One S to the projector and plugged it in. Not you will want to get a newer HDMI 2.0b standard cable to take full advantage of this projector. If you have older HDMI Cables, you may not be able to fully use all the resolution modes. Even against my wall with the room filled with indirect sunlight my XBOX One S looked great. Took a bit of fiddling to get the HDR setup to play so I could test out my 4K HDR Blu-Ray's. Note Home Cinema 4000 will only do HDR in 4K/24p 4:2:2 mode. Which means for the XBOX One S, you have to go under advanced options and select 4:2:2 once that was done it detected HDR content for Blu-Rays. I was blown away. I tested a few IMAX UHD HDR Discs and they looked great, then I put on Labyrinth UHD HDR and the picture was amazing, I could see details I haven't seen before, it was clear as day now. Movie night will rock at my house. This is clearly an amazing device with great picture. Its fairly quite for a projector, even when the fans where running and dumping heat, it wasn't very loud at all, but if you sit in front and to the side you feel the heat coming off this device to keep it cool. I cannot rave more about this picture. It produces a stunning picture and even when playing XBOX One games just in SDR, like Forza Horizon, it just popped. I was impressed, and this will be great having a group of friends over to play Rocket League or other games on a "Large" Screen. Additionally if you wanted to try 3D this projector supports 3d, however you will have to buy glasses. Still it is nice if you wanted to get into the 3D movies at a later date. Really my only Con with this projector is the size. Its bulky, not travel size, but it's worth it for the picture. It just pops even against an off-white wall. I mean WOW. This is a great picture. Amazing picture. Just make sure you have the space for it, as it about 21" wide and about 18" long and weighs about 24lbs. This is serious hardware. But awesomely serious hardware. If you are looking for a projector to just watch movies and go WOW. I think this one could be the one. Let me just say again WOW, I love this picture and how bright it is. Great Job Epson.
