Great story! They did a really good job with enhanced graphics. I was super happy they decided to make a 4k version of this movie. My old copy was on VHS.

John Carpenter’s follow up to the classic Escape from New York is a bit of a hit and miss. There are some likable characters this go round and Snake has the one-liners completely covered. A rehashed story similar to the structure from the original movie, albeit in a new locale, weakens it overall. A short runtime makes it worthwhile for a popcorn action flick, so sit back and watch the explosions! Note: The 4K presentation is amazing, color grading and grain structure are all in respectable standards for this release. I had to return this product before opening because of an audio issue with the surround sound track. This is documented online and Paramount is aware and offering a disc replacement program to fix this. If you have a white UPC code on the back, you’ll need a replacement, but if there is a yellow UPC code, you’re in the clear.

The sequel to Escape From New York finds Snake on yet another high profile mission to rescue the President's daughter this time, or perhaps it is the military device she holds instead. Snake excepts the mission under pressure of course after the leaders inject a virus into his bloodstream. Time is a factor as always and Snake somehow seems to get it done by the skin of his teeth with a little help. I have to say this is an improvement over previous editions. Better sound now on the 4K and the picture is good with enhanced graphics as opposed to it before. Kurt Russell delivers another action guilty pleasure to take your mind off reality for under 2 hours. This is the 4K edition ONLY. Nice slipcover and digital copy. You can retire those older versions now. Not as good as Escape From New York, but solid 4 stars. I do recommend if you are a Kurt Russell fan.

I remember a time when The Fog, Prince of Darkness, Christine and They Live were not thought of very well. Nevermind the disastrous initial reception of The Thing. It seems like every few years time catches up to Carpenter's movies and they finally get the audience they deserve. My guess is either this or Village of the Damned will be next. The problem with L.A. is how different the tone of it is to New York, but once you realize that's the point and that he is a master of Tone above all else, this movie becomes really rewarding and it's legit pretty hilarious. The UHD looks beautiful. I supplemented my Scream Factory blu with it and I'm solid with this title. Make sure the barcode on the back is yellow as the initial pressing with a white barcode had a sound error that affects the surround channels.

Back when Escape from LA was first released, a lot of people complained about the somewhat primitive CGI instead of the practical effects, just like they did with Romero's last zombie efforts. Criticizing this movie today for the same reason is, for example, like trying to bash Ray Harryhausen 's movies, the original Howling or even Terminator 2. Looking at all the gender, homeland security and body alteration issues covered by this movie, which are mostly the same the media covers today, I would say Carpenter is nothing short of a visionary and my conclusion is this: Escape From NY was as relevant back in 2001 as this one is these days, except that, arguably, Carpenter missed the mark for a couple of years (it's set on 2013).

Snake is back and brings the sillyness from the John Carpenter original with him in the form of Steve Bucemi (i got no complaints).

This movie is great love the action and the sound I have watched this movie in different formats but the 4K version is outstanding

Escape from LA starring Kurt Russell. If you're a fan of escape from New York starring Russell Crowe and directed by John Carpenter this is a must-have. It's great that they brought it out on HD 4K which just improved the quality of the movie. It's just a great movie supercast and the storyline is just a what if. What FLA had its big earthquake and was cut off from the rest of the United States could it be turned into a max security prison nobody knows. But the whole point behind it is the idea of the President's daughter steals a top secret prototype which controls satellites the satellites throughout a poll switch knocks out all electricity wherever the satellite is aimed at. Being at the president's daughter steals the box he wants it back. So they send in of course Russell crowe's character snake pliskin. What he has to go through to get this thing back is just as incredible as escape from New York. This is a must have if your fan of snake plus skin and escape from New York. Kurt Russell delivers another superb movie and a classic sci-fi worth having and a collection.

Cult classic. Quite entertaining. Well done for the budget.

Would give this 5 stars, but I got the white upc. If you don't know there is an issue with the ones with a white upc, the audio is messed up, you can request a new disc. If your upc is yellow, then your all set. As for the movie, it's a classic, I don't think it's as good as Escape from New York, but that's just me.

Snake Plisskin returns! Not as good as the original but still classic cult cinema.

I love everything John Carpenter does, so it was a no-brainer to buy this movie.

I love the acting of Kurt Russell and I had to have this movie in 4k.

Great 4K transfer, great companion piece with Escape from New York. Loved it.
