A modular power supply like this one allows you to choose which cables you need and only attach those, while a non or semi-modular has some or all of them already connected permanently. It's very convenient to be able to remove what you don't need especially when you are probably going to need to fit as much as you can into a small space. I justy built my first PC with this power supply recently and it was a cinch with this one. The EVGA G2 was widely recommended when I sought advice for my build and I will pass that recommendation along.

Great power supply for midrange PC

Great power source
