Exodus: Gods and Kings (3D Blu-ray)(Blu-ray)(Digital Copy) is based on the book, in the Holy Bible. This familiar story was artfully told though it ends with a poor interpretation of Moses' act of parting the Red Sea. The effects and realism of the plagues, were kept as written without artist licensing, are purely fascinating Christian Bale delivers a wonderful performance as Moses. Joel Edgerton holds his own as he portrays Ramses. The acting duo have just enough chemistry to convince an audience they are actually rivals that were reared together.
The acclaimed director, Ridley Scott proves once more that he can deliver a visually stunning, artfully conceived and brilliantly directed film from this familiar era, as he accomplished with Gladiator. I would like to note once more the realism and the special effects as they are on par with those of Scott's other success and well-known feature, Prometheus.
The scenery, as film was shot on location, is breath-taking and the special effects are especially profoundly brilliant. 3D adds a bit extra to this film as many scenes were geared towards this feature.
Definitely one for the house-hold though i would keep the children under 13 away from this PG-13 feature film.
This film contains Violence Including battle sequences and intense images.
The 3 disc combo is filled with 5 hours of extras. So if you are one that loves all the behind the scenes, "how did they do that," inquisitive nature. You will enjoy the extras packed inside.
Blu ray allows you to view in 1080p Widescreen. Audio in English, Spanish and French. Subtitles: English SDH (captions background noise and effects),Spanish
Runtime is 150 minutes.
Add this one to your 3D library and file under stunning!

Director Ridley Scott, actor Christian Bale, beautiful set design, fantastic costumes, stunning 3D visual effects. Who could ask for more? Maybe a more traditional take on the Biblical story would have helped the film along. In this well made movie with above par acting from both Bale and Edgerton, under Scott's direction, some of the scenes were breathtaking to behold. But I feel that Mr. Scott was holding back a little, whether for political or religious reasons, it's hard to say. I liked the battle scenes, loved the 3D effects, and enjoyed the scenes of Ridley Scott's beautifully depicted ancient Egypt. All in all, a good movie that was entertaining and worth the money spent. As a side note, if you purchase the copy that has "ONLY @ BEST BUY" on the cover claiming to have a "BONUS 30 MINUTES OF RED SEA VISUAL EFFECTS", find out how to obtain this. I still haven't discovered
how to get it, even after talking to sales associates and e-mailing Best Buy themselves.

I held back getting this after I first saw it available, then I needed it for my 3D collection.
I am a follower of the teaching of the one God. Surprisingly was early in Egypt with Tut's family. Poor Socrates had to drink poison for trying to teach the one God he read in Egypt.

Great looking disc. The movie is not 100% scriptural. Either was the one with chuck heston. The 4k presentation had a 3D look to it over the original bluray. Wich was a great looking disc.

I liked the movie, I think Christian Bale did a good job with this role. The blu-ray quality is just fine everything comes with digital copies anyway now.

The movie felt rushed, hopefully the director's cut if there is one will add to the story. To its credit the look of the movie is beautiful, costumes, cinematography, and CGI. In the end this movie just wasn't epic.

Pros:
3D availability
7.1 availability
Cons:
Movie has horrible & too long.
3D was weak & one of the worst. That’s with a calibrated passive OLED that gives me the best results too.
7.1 surround was meh on my calibrated 7.2.4 setup.

A good movie but do not expect it to be the biblical story. The film loosely follows the biblical story but takes a lot of liberties. If you are looking for the story from the bible this will not be for you. If you are looking for pure entertainment with some great action this is a great movie.

The UHD video and Dolby Soundtrack is superb to the BluRay of this title. Rich colors and the sound of tne chariots racing through the streets and the water as it crashes onto Ramses and his armies makes you feel that you are there (or at least in the theater again)

This rendition was a decent one compared to Moses and the 10 commandments , as it didn't follow the Bible as well , but would definitely recommend it to anyone as the 3D was good.

I enjoyed the movie for what it was. I don't understand the whitewashing and why we are being PC about it. I bet you 100 dollars the people complaining about it don't even believe in God.

After seeing this movie in both normal resolution (on cable TV) and on this 4K version my opinion is that the 4K version is worth the cost. Outstanding 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. As for the movie itself - I thought it was very good but if you are bothered by the story not following the Bible then maybe you will want to hold off buying.

What lead-up to the Jewish slave exodus from ancient Egypt is graphically illustrated in this movie, while also presenting differences that drawn the audiences into the storyline. Differences in the relationship between Pharaoh and Moses and Moses and the Jewish God he only follows late in life. Hollywood here presents a more realistic vision of ancient Egypt than the sanitized version Chuck Heston played Moses in, especially in presenting the 10 plagues, the parting & closing of the Red Sea, and the bad living conditions of Egyptian and of slaves alike. Even before he becomes Pharaoh a jealousy is shown towards his "brother" Moses, like resentment of being saved from his own carelessness or of knowing that his father loves Moses better. He is anxious to get Moses out of the palace and out of his kingdom. From watching Heston's film and knowing the Bible story, audiences will recognize the characters and follow the storyline except for one addition. Instead of the voice of God heard by Moses, the director uses a young boy to be that voice raising the question as to why this human personification. Moses is overheard talking but only the audience can see this boy, while his contemporaries see no one and question Moses' sanity in getting the Jews out of Egypt. One disappointment with the ending is that the audience is presented with a fast-forward showing only a wizen Moses, leaving one to wonder what happened to everyone else.

Most viewers will compare this movie to Cecil B. DeMille's "The Ten Commandments" released in 1956 which is the gold standard that other Biblical movies about The Exodus are based upon.
The story is basically the same but with director Ridley Scott's interpretation of the events as they unfolded. Some of it was a little strange and didn't always use the literal writings from the Bible as the 1956 version did, for the most part.
I wasn't too impressed with this interpretation from my first viewing but after getting past some of the different takes on the story, it actually turned out to be an interesting film with awesome special effects, especially in 3D. It just didn't have the graceful flow or capture the feel of the 1956 version which made you feel like part of the movie or watching a superbly acted Broadway stage play in the more intimate moments amongst the characters.
The story in this version was mostly centered around the two main characters with some emphasis on the others at times. The previously-mentioned version made much better use of all the other characters which had some of the biggest names in entertainment at the time
It may not be the best movie about the Exodus or everyone's cup of tea but it's worth picking up at this low price.

Is it a word by word authentic adaption of Exodus no. But if you look at it as an epic fantasy that still maintains the heart and sole of the story of Moses you'll love it. I rank it up there with the prince of Egypt and the ten commandments.
