I have so far enjoyed my time with FO4. I have had very minimum lost frames that have been so widely reported. IMO it only happens after save events. The content is great and the mechanics are very solid. The game looks great (not superb) and is a blast to play. If you like to dungeon crawl you will enjoy.

I have not ever played the Fallout series, so this is my first encounter with Bethesda. That being said, this is an excellent game. The world is massive, you can free roam and explore, or you can follow missions and a storyline. From the first person shooter side of the game the mechanics are great. It is fairly easy to target the enemies and make kills. The ability to scavenge and take materials to build your settlements and defenses is another aspect of the gameplay. While I feel like this was less of a focus, it is still another element to add to the overall experience. The building mechanics aren't as good as Minecraft for example, things snap together, but you also can't prevent them from snapping, so precision builds can be difficult to line up just the way you want it to look. Also, the building pieces are limited, so therefore so is your imagination. The only other downfall of the game is the lack of multiplayer. I know Bethesda wanted to focus on the story mode, but having the ability to play with 1 or 2 friends would have enhanced the gameplay to another level. It wouldn't have needed to be as extensive as Destiny or Elder Scrolls where you have 100's of people online together, but the ability to invite even just 1 friend to co-op your world would be great. Still, this game is amazing. I have been playing several hours a night since the release and I don't see me stopping anytime soon. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the couple of things I mentioned that would have made it the BEST GAME OF THE YEAR by far! I still rank this game higher than Star Wars Battlefront, which came out around the same time.

I never played any of the other Fallout games until this one, cause a friend recommended it to me and I have to say I'm hooked, this is one of the funnest games I've played on a while, I love the vast open world or Fallout 4. This game has a good story and a lot of side quests you can do that will lead up to hours of fun and adventure.I'm 30+ hours into the game and still haven't complete the main story and all of the side quests, and I'm still having a lot of fun playing the game ,cause there is so much you can do, everything from building bases, finding loot and materials to upgrade your armor and weapons and use to build your base, and I love it, one of my favorite things to do is to explore for hours cause you'll never know what you'll run into or find in the massive open world of Fallout 4. I would highly recommend this game to anybody that is a fan of the Fallout Franchise and I'd also recommend this game to anybody who has never played any of the Fallout games also.

Just like the 2 Bethesda made Fallout games before it, Fallout 4 delivers the goods. Same great post apocalyptic atmosphere but this time you're exploring the ruins of Boston. From the start, Fallout 4 had me hooked. The character customization is deep and you can make your character appear pretty much any way you want, male or female. The perk system is also a great way to customize your character to your style of play. Every level you can gain a new perk or boost any existing one as long as you meet the requirements for that perk. Admittedly, I haven't beat the game and I'm not sure how far I am into the main quest but I've spent 50+ hours playing and it's absolutely addicting and a blast. As with other Fallout games, I'm sure this one has its bugs but I've yet to encounter any major ones and nothing that has affected my experience with the game. Overall, I think this is a must have game that anyone can get into. Just be sure to kiss your social life goodbye!

I've never played or seen any Fallout games in the past, only heard of them. This game actually came as a free add on when I purchased my new ps4 last week. I have had my ps4 for about 4 days, I've been playing this game for about 4 days, and I have not slept for 3 of them... That should give you some sort of idea as to how addicting this game can become. If you are a fan of Grand theft auto, red dead redemption, or uncharted (I am of all 3) then I promise you will love this game. Pure open world adventure, explore every inch and detail in the vast wasteland, build settlements and create a new world for the remaining good people in Commonwealth all while fighting off Raiders, mutants, and radiation. There is truly NEVER A DULL MOMENT while playing Fallout 4. You never know what's ahead of you... Or behind you in most cases either!! Highly recommend picking up this game and forgetting life as you knew it!!

Open world, base customization, variety of enemies, looting and a decent story. Love the game. It's single player only but, you will spend hours playing. It looks great and the atmosphere is amazing. There will be moments when your palms start sweating and your heart jumps a bit. If someone you know wants this for Christmas I highly recommend you buy it.

I love Fallout. I've owned and played the extensions for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. When I got Fallout 4, I was delighted by the updated look, obviously, but also disappointed that the graphics are not up to par with other current gen games. Though, that disappointment sort of went away as I traveled the wasteland (The Commonwealth) and saw how much Bethesda packed into this game. You can be in the middle of nowhere and stumble upon a scavenger doing target practice with bottles in the woods, or be hiding behind a bunch of cars as a firefight breaks out between Gunners, Raiders, and Super Mutants. The fact that there can be these full fledged battles in the middle of a massive city is just amazing. Though, there can be slowdown when a lot is going on. The story is also great, pretty straight forward but with some twists. Then there's the infinite number of side quests and overall crazy things that happen.
Tldr: amazing game, don't pay too much attention to the sub-par current gen graphics but the amount of playability in this game.

This is the first time I ever played a fallout game. I first I was not excited because it was the fourth one release and I thought there was going to be a story that I need to catch up on and that most of the things would not make scene, but it was the opposite it was a whole new story, easy to follow and easy to play.
It has a great story, you get to choose a companion or you can be a lone wolf, you decided and every decision has a consequence, so make sure to choose correctly. It's one of the best games that I have ever purchased and I have spent a great amount of time on it that I have even purchased the other fallout games.

Let me start with this: I love all of the fallout games as well as the elder scrolls games. I've read lots of negative reviews of this game which surprised me. I'm going to address some of those points here. Oblivion is to Fallout 3 as Skyrim is to Fallout 4.
No Skill System: I find this untrue. Any level up grants you points to either pick a perk or put a point into your special. This being said, unlike past fallout games you can't put 10 points into intelligence and be a master of everything. There is no perk that allows you two skill points on level up instead of one. This doesn't so much bother me because the character customization is so much more dynamic because of it. It forces you to strategically allocate your points so that you character specializes in certain things. You can't be a master of all weapons, lock picking, crafting, charisma, and be able to carry as much as you want. This is very similar to the way the skill system in Skyrim is. I love it, it makes the game more challenging and every time I play I can have a different experience.
There aren't enough random quests: I've read this complaint a ton and I have found it to be completely false. I've been playing this game pretty consistently since it's release and have yet to begin the main story line past the initial quest. That being said, random quests don't fall into your lap as easily. As is characteristic of Bethesda you have to talk to people, but there are also tons of quests that aren't marked on the map or initiated in towns. You have to go find them. This means if you fast travel everywhere you won't. There are hidden locations and quests all over the world.
Not enough dialogue options: This is semi true. You only have four options for dialogue when speaking to someone. But it also gives you random options sometimes depending on your skills. Also, if you don't pick certain options you can miss out on items and quests.
Bugs: Yes there are bugs, sometimes you have to initiate a conversation more than once to get it started. Small complaint but annoying. The game also just released so I'm sure there will be a patch in the future. Companions pick up random items and then can't carry the ones you hand them because they are overburdened. It's still an awesome way to get free stuff. The build mode can be buggy but this is usually resolved by exiting and trying again.
Bad graphics: Um no, the graphics are awesome. I'm on the PS4 and I was impressed. If I had an alienware I would probably be blown away.
I love that you don't have to open something to see what is inside it or loot it this would save me time if I didn't find myself opening my pip boy often when I'm trying to close the loot menu, which you don't have to do. This will be resolved when I reprogram my brain to not hit O when I'm done looting.
Overall I am loving this game, it is more difficult, there are more options, and I feel as though this will entertain me for years to come just like Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout NV have. At least until Bathesda releases another elder scrolls game, which could be years at this rate and then I'll have to allocate my time equally between the two.
Great game. Hours upon hours of entertainment. Worth the money.

Go buy it. Reported glitches aside, this game is amazing, and I've not encountered any of those so far. Graphics are only slightly improved from 3/New Vegas. Sound is unexpectedly good, I find myself with the radio off much more in this entry than the past. The coolest new thing is the weather system. I've walked around in downpours, fog, and dust storms so dense I could only see a few feet in front of the character; it really helps make the world feel alive. Everything else is as expected, masterful story telling from Bethesda with a myriad off branches and side paths to keep you occupied for the foreseeable future. Everyone should own this game.

Fallout 4 is one of the great standouts for 2015! The game is set in a post apocalyptic open world. While the graphics are not the best, the grays and subtleties of color use are due to a radiation filled landscape. I love how the story unfolds and how it's so easy to ease drop on conversations and actual view gunfights. What you do in this game does matter. You can have a companion a company you and you should make them feel welcome ,because if dont they will leave alone in the world. With a driving story and slightly terrifying yet exciting world; this game is an absolute must have! Bugs aside, this game rocks!!!

I have just recently started to play this game and am nowhere near completion since the game is huge in scope but I'll tell you what my thoughts are about it so far which is 10 hours into the game.
I'm not usually a big fan of RPG's but this game has grown on me because of the story and great action. I've previously played a little bit of Fallout 3 but stopped because it was too much stop-and-go which was breaking up the action. I normally like FPS such as the Battlefield and Call of Duty series.
Fallout 4 is almost the same as the previous release far as the game mechanics go but seems to be less of a chore. It is definitely a RPG which means you can really get into all the fine details if you want to or use the RPG elements minimally to keep things moving along. I personally enjoy the exploring of the huge world. The enemies can be tough so you'll need to be quick and an accurate shooter using the proper firearms which are really diverse and can be modified.
The graphics are excellent with smooth controls. The only minor complaint is the NPC's who can follow along with you to help in your missions sometimes get in the way or occasionally are of little help fighting the enemy but sometimes you'll need all the help you can get.
This is a game enjoyed in small pieces but it is sometimes hard to stop because you want to see what's awaiting you up ahead.

Having played Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, I had some high expectations of this game being on next gen. Fallout 3 was excellent and I liked New Vegas, but not as much as 3.
Fallout 4 has made some changes compared to past entries and so far I'm enjoying every aspect of it. There are some mixed reviews about the graphics, but I don't think they are as bad as some people make it out to be. The first thing I really enjoy is the color pallet. You're not stuck looking at the same green/gray/brown color combination, which I thought was boring after a while.
The VATS system is still as easy to use and combat is still nice and refreshing. Even though I am still going through missions, I don't feel like it's too difficult or easy. The combat is challenging enough (probably until I encounter the really difficult enemies) at the moment.
The control scheme is the same as the other two titles I mentioned, which makes picking this up for me easy. I like the added Quick Access menu, which allows you to quickly draw 4 items (guns, first aid) without going into the Pip-Boy menu.
The voice acting is great and the voice actors do a great job at making the characters believable. Encountering companions and enemies makes this a really enjoyable experience.
Those familiar with the previous Fallout games know that you can add perks by leveling up and I do see some new and interesting perks. A lot of the same perks have also returned to the series which are still great to have.
If you are a fan of the series, I can't recommend this game enough. You'll spend hours out in the Commonwealth searching for new locations, companions, quests, and items. I know I'm going to put in as many hours that I can (not all at one time) with this game and it will easily redeem the full price tag in no time.

This game is great. They've kept the Fallout-style gameplay intact, while adding additional features. A lot of games now are adding multiplayer functionality, but I believe this game is best single player. I've spent hours building my base, collecting resources, and doing the fun side missions. The main story line has a good plot and keeps you engaged, whereas other games I tend to forget the plot as I do side missions and then go back to the main campaign.
Yes, this has caused arguments with my significant other. Those were resolved, so this game is totally worth it!

I own the PC version in addition to this, and if you have a decent enough PC, I'd recommend buying that version over either of the console versions. The PS4 version performs a bit better than the Xbox One version, but both have really bad frame drops in the 20s and sometimes the high teens. They're also locked at 30 frames.
I was a little concerned about how Fallout 4 would turn out. Fallout New Vegas is one of my favorite games, but it is developed by Obsidian, while 3 and 4 were developed by Bethesda. 3 was just clunkier in comparison to NV- the dialogue was fairly bad, they had a very limited cast of voice actors, and the story was very simplistic. New Vegas had a very interesting story, with great dialogue, and a wide variety of characters and voice actors. Thankfully, Bethesda turned it up a notch (though I will say NV is still written better).
Compared to the last gen games, a decent amount has changed. It's not anything that flies in your face like crazy, but the refined combat and more polished gameplay are definite, noticeable improvements. The gunplay has more of a Bioshock vibe—it doesn't play like Call of Duty, but you're also not standing still by an enemy shooting at them, which is what would tend to happen in 3 and NV.
The inclusion of a settlement system adds a whole new layer to the game. It gives meaning to all the random junk lying around in buildings, and is a fun little side task, while also being a huge time sink if you really get into it. The only real issue with it is that they never really explain how to do a lot of basic workshop functions. Thankfully, plenty of people have written guides which are easily found with a quick Google search.
The only things I disliked in this game are:
-the dialouge system is simplified. You only ever get 4 dialouge options, and dialogue just isn't as interesting as in NV. However, their implementation of the dialogue wheel is better than how Bioware did Dragon Age 2. At least the summaries match up more with the actual dialogue.
-the stat and perk systems have been merged and simplified. It locks a lot of skills behind level caps that had not been previously tied to level in past games. It's definitely easier for newcomers though, so I can somewhat understand.
-the writing could be better. Overall it's better than 3, but still a step down from New Vegas. I am glad that they took note of NVs multiple factions, rather than just having a good and an evil faction like in 3.

Fallout 4 does a great job of expanding the game world while not requiring you to ever have played a Fallout game before.
Fallout 4 is an open world game, so if you do not like those I'd avoid it, but I love those types of games.
Fallout 4 does a great job making exploration and side quests worth the effort it takes to complete them.
In this Fallout, you build communities and help out other settlements.
The story missions are griping and cool.
The "first" minuteman mission is amazing. Shows you almost all the aspects of the game and what to expect.
