This game has gotten so much flak in the last few weeks, and this is pretty much not a game that is similar to the Fallouts before it. This game has little story, little interaction with the world, and feels more or less like a deserted Fallout 4.
But the game isn’t all about the world. The game is about what you make of it with your friends and strangers. The story comes from the path and progression you and your friends make as you explore the Appalachia. Fighting through hives of enemies to launch a nuke, and fighting the endgame boss with the other ~20 people on the server was the best experience I’ve had in any Bethesda game. The community in this game is so much better than others, it is almost the exact opposite experience of GTA V online.
There are technical issues, and performance across all platforms is not just right yet. But Bethesda is being very transparent and working with the community to better the game and make the experience more stable and bug free. I definitely recommend this game to anyone that wants to give it a try but has been dissuaded by the many negative reviews. Just understand that this is not a regular Fallout game, this is different.

To play this game don’t forget to purchase Xbox live gold membership. At first I didn’t know that before buying the game. Overall I guess it’s worth it since the game has a good storyline. I just hate it that I need to spend more money just to enjoy this game. I’m debating right now if it’s worth buying Xbox one X just for the 4K experience.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. The only complaint I might have is the lack of NPCs but it doesn't ruin the game for me.

This game needs ALOT of work...
I had unfortunately pre-ordered this game and paid the full $59.99 for [in my opinion] an unfinished game that dropped it's price only a week after release. I wish I wouldn't have spent the full amount on this, but for $35, it's a fair price.
It's not a bad game, but I definitely was expecting better from another Fallout game.
Some improvements/changes I would like to see:
I'm not a fan of the No-Human NPC thing. PLEASE introduce them back with the next DLC. From what I understood at E3, Bethesda's reasoning behind having no human NPC's was that "you are the first humans to emerge from the vault, there's no survivors because they didn't survive the bombs" but after you start playing, you see the map is littered with bodies of 'survivors' who have left notes and holotapes about their lives AFTER the bombs dropped... These would have been interesting NPC's' to meet and do missions for, instead of the hand written notes and holotapes we are left with.. It seems like the story writers were extremely rushed, short staffed, and working on a Ramen Noodle budget. The game feels unfinished, lazy, and pretty much emotionless. It feels like the campaign is just a suggestion if anything, I get more enjoyment out of just exploring the map than I do actually following the missions/campaign.
Huge issue with high level players ganging up against lower level players...Hard to progress in the game when you're a low-level and being tracked down by players more than twice as powerful as you - forcing you to leave the server to find a new one after they've already taken all the aluminum scraps you just spent the last hour trying to collect... :P You can't really be mad at them though, it's understandable to have gotten bored in the game after you've reached a certain level... But still, either make an option to turn on/off player damage, or ALLOW PRIVATE SERVERS.
Also, if SONY was the only one against allowing cross-platform; why can't XBOX and PC players play together? Me and my fiance are huge Fallout fans and even though I've got a perfectly capable PC that could run this game, the only way it looks like we are going to be able to play together is if we either buy a second Xbox (and a second copy of the game because we have the physical copy) or I spend another $1000+ on another gaming computer for her to play on - either way, it's not worth it.. :/
In conclusion, I feel like the artists and developers did a great job at making this a beautiful and interactive game. There are alot of bugs and glitches that I'm sure will be fixed within the next few months. Not taking stars off for that, every game as big as this is expected to have it's quirks. I'm rating 3 stars because the story line is so disappointing and the lack of NPC's makes the game feel dull/empty...

Actually preordered the game, not disappointed. Is the game perfect? No. It has its glitches but i really enjoy the gameplay. You can play by yourself or as a team, obviously it's easier as a team. Always thought "I'm not the sole survivor, it would be cool to explore with friends". Yes, there isn't a direct story staring you in the face but there is story and missions you can do. Unlike previous games the objective isn't to find a lost family member, but only to rebuild. Your story and objectives come from items, terminals, and robots.

You may be thinking to yourself “why the heck does this person rate a terrible game like this so high” honestly, i have been playing the game and never really give reviews becuase I never really think people care what others say about the game but I will tell you MY personal experience with the game. If you are a REAL fallout fan than this games honestly is really good It will take you back to the days of fallout tactics and all those other older titles. Yes, you do have to craft a lot and staying hydrated and eating is another thing. These are what add to the game. They make the game hard which seems like non of the other people in the world understand. I’ve played the game for over 60+ hours it is very fun. The missions, adventures, playing with friends all adds to the expierience. The enemies are not all brain dead. The land scape is beautiful. You will run into a few bugs here and there but they have fixed a lot of them. People say this game is horrible or worst game. It really is not as bad as they say it is. I gave a copy to my friend to try playing this game and he said he would never get the game after the reviews. Now he is addicted to the game playing every single night. Honestly just try the game out and see how YOU like it don’t go off of what developers say. If you are actually reading this I know this review is garbage but please just give the game a chance and if you don’t like it then return it but don’t try to ruin the game for other people. Take care.

So I’m no Fallout Fanboy but do enjoy playing the series. I started with Fallout4, great game, never finished like most, but still enjoyed it. When 76 was announced with online play I was super excited.
So comparison to previous games, similar game play, you can just grind through all the missions and daily quests. Or just run around with friends looking for loot and grinding.
No real story to go in order or to follow. Just a bunch of little flashbacks/memories or stories from the characters who were lost.
Gameplay is fun, you can easily start and stop and pickup where you left off.
If you want a time consumer and a basically no thought process of a game then this one might be for you.

I played this game during their Beta & not much has changed. While the graphics are impressive, there are still glitches & the biggest glaring flaw for the Fallout franchise: Tou can only play ONLINE.
Although it is not essential to play with others, the game does urge you to do so with areas which seem overpowered. And while new patches are being introduced to fix problems, there is still a Wait & See option to see if the game will live up to the Fallout name.

Definitely a fan of the platform happy with the storyline and the graphics music from previous generations. Definitely appreciate the patch updating to the stash box and known glitches like unable to exit power armor. Still glitchy and often freezes and boots you from the game but there are different servers which allow you to interact socially with different online players which is new and can be enjoyable or irritating.

I love the Fallout series! FINALLY an online installment! I will say that currently the server crashing and glitching does get frustrating at times. When they fine tweak and fix these issues, this game will be a ton of fun. I do have well over 100 hours in though, so even despite it's short comings, slaying Death Claws with buddies is fantastic fun! Happy adventuring Vault Dwellers!

My game crashes like every 30 min to 1 hr and im playing on a xbox one x. Love the game enough to deal with it. There are npcs but they are robots such as vendors, mission givers, etc. Which is fine buy me because the exploring, looting, and leveling system is addictive as previous fallouts. To conclude, its just the bugs that make it a 4/5 not the content in the game.

If you know the fallout games then you know what to expect with this one. Bugs that seem like alpha stage and still manages to be fun for a few weeks. This product might become more fun when private servers launch just to avoid the many random multiplayer bugs. If you like the fallout series and all of its bugs then you will enjoy this still.

I knew this game was buggy which is why I was waiting for the price to drop even more before I even thought about purchasing this game. Best Buy had a pretty awesome deal including my GCU. The price is why this game didn't get a lower rating. Like I said before, I knew the bugs were there but I didn't know there could be this many. Im trying to push through because I love the franchise but after I kept getting lagged out of a server or just the game straight up freezing completely, its making it impossible to do so. Id wait for an even steeper drop in price and for more patches for a decent game.

Here since Fallout 3 and this one doesn't disappoint. All the negativity it's gotten, while deserved, one needs to remember, this is their FIRST shot at an online/multiplayer game. Now that the dust has settled, I feel like it's a great time to jump into this world, if you haven't given it a chance yet. Also, the addition of human NPCs will be VERY welcome, since talking to terminals/robots is only engaging for so long.
Adventuring:
If you like exploration games which allow you to go (literally) where ever you want as soon as you leave the startup mission, then you'll love the freedom this game offers. It's truly a "do what ever you want, whenever you want" kind of experience. You'll want to follow the main quest-line to follow the lore that is Appalachia, and to get specific key recipes or tips to help you out, especially early on. From delving into random caves/mines to assaulting a bandit camp or just picking a direction and walking to see what quest pops up, there is ALWAYS something to do to keep you busy.
Crafting:
Probably my favorite, next to adventuring, is the crafting aspect in a game. Again, this game delivers in a massive way. Finding recipes/plans through adventuring or via quest/event rewards, to create new useful items is a huge part of the experience. The storage limit is still an issue, but you just learn to adapt to what you really need, versus what you are holding onto "just-in-case".
PvP:
Multiplayer (specifically pvp) was never my cup of tea and this really worried me about FO76. There are 3 modes now and each is very different, regarding solo vs. pvp gameplay. Adventure is for ppl like me, solo focused, but can team up if you/they want. If someone does attack you (this has only happened twice since I started playing last year) the damage done is next to nothing, unless you attack back. It's much more common to see ppl helping each other out in this mode, as opposed to hunting each other. Survival is a pvp focused world where the rewards are better, and expeiemce gain is increased, but you constantly have to be on your toes and look over your shoulder. Nuclear Winter is a battle royale game mode... because I guess that's a thing now in most games. But, to each their own.
Wrap-up:
This is the tip of the iceberg, so to truly know for yourself, I'd give it a try, especially if you enjoyed FO4. It's a giant world to explore and you'll be glad you gave it a chance!
Also, it's worth noting, you need to have Xbox Live Gold to play this game. No monthly subscription, however, besides that.

As a fan of the Fallout series, I had really high hopes for this one. The map is huge, which is great, but... Unlike other Fallout games, there's no NPC's to interact with, which makes the missions and discovering new towns a little empty. Yes, you can play with other players (when it works), but I've found that can also be a little distracting since you have to listen to a lot of recordings. Also, everybody's not necessarily on the same page as far as where they are in the game, which can make things a little confusing to get done. The multiplayer also glitches out quite a bit, things lag and lock-up. I've also had a lot of trouble adding people to or joining teams. To fix it, we've had to all either reboot the game or reset the console, which can be frustrating.
The one good thing about multiplayer is that you've got others to help scavenge and beat creatures you may come across.
I'm interested to see what Bethesda will do to repair many of the well documented issues with the game as well as the added content. We'll see how this goes, but so far, unless you're a diehard fan and want to ride it out with Bethesda, I'd go in cautiously at this point. Maybe (hopefully), they'll fix the issues and this will become a great game.
All that being said, be warned, if you're a fan of the Fallout series and gameplay, this is a lot different.

This is still a wonderful work by Bethesda, but you must enjoy with a different mindset. It doesn't feel like a typical Bethesda title because it is online. The interactions with other players is a change, but great. And it is awesome being able to join up and explore the wastelands with friends! But bear in mind that, with everyone else being actual players, I feel like the typical driving story isn't as effective in this version. The use of recorded logs to initiate quests doesn't make me feel as invested in any semblance of a storyline, which is greatly missed from this title. It is still a stellar game, you just need to approach with the mindset that it is not your typical Fallout title. Also, in-game bugs are pretty common, but with Bethesda's continued work on the title, there should really be only minimal interference when playing, if any.

The game itself is fun to play only if you have friends to play it with, going solo isn't really all that fun. As far as the game goes in the fallout series it is not the greatest, it lacks any kind of story, but overall decent game

I played over 300 hours in fallout 4 . Fallout 76 has been great so far . I few crashes but it’s an awesome game . It’s open world , which I thought it would bother me , but the players leave you alone .
