Fallout 3, but in Vegas

Essentially this game is Fallout 3. I rented F3, beat it once, and returned it. I did not buy the downloadable content. In other words, I did not get too much (or even enough) of F3, therefore what some call redundant in F:NV I don't mind!
The perks are almost all the same, as are the skills, as is the PipBoy, as is everything you did in F3. I think the graphics are better in F:NV and the quests more open ended. There are more ways to complete quests, and there are factions which help you determine how you'll play. Who you help determines your enemies, which should make repeated playthroughs more enjoyable and different.
As has been said this game is quite glitchy now. I've had the game freeze up about 6 or 7 times. This has never cost me much as you can save as much as you want and the autosave usually bails you out.
If you liked F3, you'll like F:NV. It really is as simple as that.

Fun Fallout game with options for main story

Fun Fallout game with options for main story. This Fallout game focuses more on the different factions and gangs which makes it interesting. There are also several directions to take the main story. The side missions or just exploring areas can result in finding some interesting tech and unique weapons which can really help in the game if you find them early. Lots of game play hours available in this game. Picked it up at Best Buy during black friday weekend for 40$.

They added a lot of new functionality to this game; however, there are a few things that I find disappointing. First, the levels max out at 30. After Fallout 3 was released, an executive at Bethesda said in the next edition, there would be no limit for levels; this is not the case and since you can only add attributes on even levels, you have to be very selective about what you choose. Second, the game crashes rather often. I now they wanted to get it on the shelf before Black Ops; however, by now we should have a patch to address the crashes. Finally, if you play for a while (approx. 2 hours or more), the load time get extremely long. To reduce the time, you have to restart your Xbox; not leave the game, but restart the system. If they release a patch to address the crashes, slow load times and unlock the levels, this game would be great.

This game is much like fallout 3. I was just so glad to get back into this style RPG. I don't think anything on the market can touch a game like this. The weapon improvements and mods rock. The graphics are awesome and the story line is amazing. This is a must have for an RPG/Fallout fan. The name Fallout speaks for itself. Enough said.

I had hoped that after all the bugs in Fallout 3 that they would have gotten this one right. Unfortunately, part way in lost access to a character follower. The lock ups and slow load times are ridiculous. Be prepared to be frustrated at times. Some missions can not be finished and other things don't work right.

This is a great game but as with most video games the company releases them before they are complete. It is very buggy. I haven't experienced it but some have complained of losing saved games and having to start over. I have experienced several graphic glitches and freezes. These days basically you pay $60 to beta test their games. But as you can see I still bought it and I'm having a great time with it.

This game is awesome. But it sucks too. Ok let me explain, anyone that has played Fallout 3 and enjoyed it will love this one. But it is so big that you could play for days without getting up to eat (maybe a slight exaggeration). The enormity of the game is my favorite feature, it is open world with just enough direction to move you along. Just make sure you use at least 1 extra save in addition to the auto save. My friend was at level 25 (character level) and only used auto save, lost power during a save and corrupted his file. That's more than enough to ruin anyones gaming experience.
I'm not too sure I like all of the new campfires and such but if you want to make all of your own things you will love the new system.

Great Game All The Way Around!

I loved Fallout 3. It consumed the better part of a year of my video game time. Fallout New Vegas will do the same for me. I played all day yesterday and barely scratched the surface of the game. The big open ended world is great to explore. You find yourself scared to venture out of the first town you wake up at for fear of the creatures that inhabit the Mojave Desert. You find out about the world you are in from the people around you. If you like first person shooters you can “run and gun”, or if you are more role-playing oriented, you can enter V.A.T.S. and use action points to battle the bad guys. What is different than Fallout 3: the books you read only provide a temporary skill increase, there are no bobble heads & you can create (and modify) a huge amount of things now with everything from a campfire to a workbench.

Fun game, a little more challenging as far as killing enemies. Still has bugs but updates are helping. Got to love the quircky humor of the Fallout series.

I began playing this game, and quickly felt at home. It has the exact same feel as Fallout 3, just with more to do. Also appears to be a bit glitchy as it did freeze a couple of times. Hopefully these bugs will be fixed soon. I would recommend this to a friend if it weren't for the bugs, but until they are fixed, I wouldn't.

If you enjoyed Fallout 3, then you'll love Fallout: New Vegas. You don't have to learn Fallout all over again because it sticks to the same controls and concepts, they just added stuff that makes the game more enjoyable! Just a side note... huge geckos that you'll occasionally run into in the desert that attack you are awesome! Unfortunately there are graphic bugs and glitches more so than Fallout 3. But hey, they'll probably be fixed wih future updates. If you want a nice long challenging game with lots of exploration, BUY IT!!!

The game was fun but to many mundane quests searching for people and not enough combat style killing of mutants or bugs...fallout 3 was much better. Although I liked the color and graphics better. The biggest downfall glitch after glitch after glitch....it froze up so bad I thought I had a bad disc and returned it to find out it wasn't the disc at all. I had to report to a earlier saved game as it glitched when saving and would freeze at this one gate to new vegas and would have to shutdown everytime. I was really disappointed as fallout 3 near the end glitched alot and thought this would be better and they would have that resolved....it is worse....ok story, but again fallout 3 was much better......come on I know you guys can put a better big world game with little to no glitches out.......

Fallout: New Vegas is a really good game, if you like Fallout 3 you should like this one. In my opinion Fallout 3 is better but it is still good. It feels like and add-on so don't expect something different but it is a great game

This review is only for the first few hours of play. So far this holds up with Fallout 3 easily. Starts with a good story lead in and mystery as well. The sound is stellar as always. This could use a little more variety in the music, but it doesn't take away from the feel of the game. I really like the addition of a more realistic role playing character when you need to drink and eat and heal yourself continually. Great job. Hopefully the rest of the game is as good as the beginning.

The game is good, everything I was expecting from a Fallout game. This is the problem, except for the different location and the new missions it is the exact same game as Fallout 3. There is a few new monsters and a couple new weapons, but the game looks and feels like an expansion pack more than a new game. Nonetheless, this game is fun as hell. Wandering an enormous abandoned wasteland never gets old, so even though it is the same as Fallout 3, it reminds me why I loved this type of game. As for the glitches everyone is whining about, I have not experienced them to the extents that others have. Yeah, the game can jump or freeze sometimes, but with a game this size it can be expected. I am glad I got it and would recommend it to anyone who loves to dive off the deep end into a different world.

If you enjoyed Fallout 3, this game is for you. This is everything from its predecessor and more. A truly enjoyable game with plenty of ways to play, depending on the player. I have run into minimal problems playing the game and those that I have run into can be solved simply by saving and restarting the game. Hopefully those problems will be soon patched (crossing fingers). Considering the massive amount of game play packed into this game, I'm okay with it. Overall a great addition to the Fallout line.

Story was fine, but the game has bugs. I'd get stuck in random places while walking or fall through a rock and get stuck under the map. Load times were a little long. If you can get past all of that, New Vegas has some cool features like moding weapons, and having two followers.
