So much potential, but so many problems

I purchased New Vegas a while ago. Overall, the gameplay is good, story is easy to follow and original - and on HDMI settings, the graphics are mind-blowing. I played Fallout 3 and put 100+ hours into it. I would have put more time into New Vegas if it had ALLOWED me to.... There are several quests and actions in the game that cause freezing, and sometimes corrupt saves, which ruin game progression. My game became corrupted twice, so I simply stopped playing. I am connected to XBL, so I am recieving patches for the game as Bethesda 'works' with Microsoft to get the patches out. It has the potential to be one of the best RPG's I've ever played, but sadly it isn't physically possible for me to progress through the story or side-quests because of various glitches and quirks. I may look into getting another copy; maybe mine has unique problems (haha).

    Bethesda does it again

Prepare to spend the usual 100 hours plus on this bang for the buck award game...... I'm 50 hours in and barely 40% through the game and side quests..... You've been warned..... But it is worth the time investment....... Several plot twists and surprises and the usual DLC to keep it fresh for months......

    Highly Anticipated

I purchased Fallout 3 when it first came out and I can't stop playing it. It is the greatest game I have ever played in my entire life. Fallout: New Vegas is highly anticipated. It's not supposed to run on the same story as Fallout 3, but it has the same theme: post-apocalyptic. I cannot wait for this game to come out. It's going to be a great hit.

While I have not spent much time playing (about 5 hours), what I have seen so far is a disappointment over Fallout 3. They may have been rushed to get this game out as there are numerous glitches (bodies suspended in mid air before engaging them, the playable character jerking the gun up and down, etc...).

I was a huge Fallout 3 fan. Fallout New Vegas is just more of the same, with a few key differences. The story line doesn't flow, the models and the art work is the same as before, and the gameplay is identical. The game is really just an expansion pack, and lacks any true innovation . Oh, and the bugs. Its super buggy. In fact its the buggiest game I've ever played. Companions get lost, games won't save, files get corrupted, etc. How can you play a game you can't save? The game is more of a battle with patience and frustration. I would definitely wait and buy this after a while, and after the price greatly drops. Say $29.99ish.

On Sale for $9.99 -- Enough Said

This game plays so poorly, I'm not even going to write a solidly written review for it. It has tons of bugs, which are now mostly all fixed with latest downloadable patch. Very tough game. Hard to figure out what to do, even for a sandbox-type game -- and even harder to care about what you're doing. Graphics and animations are course and seem to be about a generation-and-a-half old, but at least they are Hi-Def. I don't know what else to say. Even though I'm a hardcore Xbox 360 and PS3 gamer that really enjoys well-made games and solid stories, I just am not willing to put time into this game. I played it for 30 minutes. It's back in the case. It will stay there.

This game is awesome as far as playing it, but it is riddled with Bugs. Depending on where you go and what you wear you will not be able to load your saved games. This is an issue across all platforms

I was so disappointed when I bought this game. I loved Fallout 3 and Oblivion but New Vegas is just hard to like. It has so many bugs and glitches that it is hard to go anywhere without running into glitches(invisible enemies, enemies travelling through the walls, game freezing during VATS, etc.). I could see how New Vegas COULD be fun, if it wasn't so polluted with glitches. My advice: wait to buy this game until the price drops ALOT!

    Spin off, not a sequel

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Considering the Game of the Year edition of Fallout 3 has enough content to cover 3 games, this game rightly follows in the footstep of Fallout and Fallout 2, which were both set in Southern California, but it's quite a bit more logical in it's progression, just taking place a few years after, and not being a direct sequel it allows much more ground to be explored as well as brought back from the first two games. The only troubling thing about the game is a few glitches they've yet to work out, which is why some wait to see if it will receive a game of the year edition as Fallout 3 did, but I recommend that you get the game, just save always and often and if you encounter an error approach it from another angle!

Great game, there are a few small glitches here and there, however, it is extremely fun to play and has almost an unlimited amount of things to do and experience leading to unending hours of gameplay

Great fun to explore New Vegas and the surrounding areas with or without companions to assist you. So many options you'll want to play a few times to enjoy all of the skills and ways to bring down your enemies!

this is a great game so far. i just got it a few days ago and i love it. it can get pretty challenging at times, but i manage to get through it. if the game is too tough, you can always change the gameplay to "very easy" which does help. overall, this game is great and i would recommend it to everyone.

Never really got around to playing this but when I finally bought after about 8 months after the release date, I'm glad I didn't pay full price. First the game has graphic that are so out dated, and its super buggy. There is not much of a storyline in the game at all. The game does not try at all to even entertain me at all. Honestly best buy sold for 9.99 a few weeks ago, its really not worth much more than that.

Such an amazing game, definitely for those gamers who've enjoyed Bethesda's previous titles (Fallout/Elder Scrolls games). But also a great pick-up if you like to roam, exploring the vast terrain, and making your character however you desire, the expansiveness never ends.

Not as great as Fallout 3, but for 20 bucks its a solid pickup. Game glitches a lot, and it takes awhile to pick up any good weapons or armors, so patience is key.
