Great little lens.

The G master lenses are very large and draw too much attention and situations where you need to use caution. I recently traveled to a Third World country. I did not feel secure walking freely with a large set up. I bought this lens. The size of the lens and weight allowed me to move freely and capture what I intended without unwanted attention. In a world of dizzying sharpness and fascination with ultra clear images, This lens is not it. However, there is a very likable personality with this 50 mm. This has become my go to street lens.

Best lens for your money hands down

You can spend a lot of money to ‘upgrade’ but the quality this lens puts out is phenomenal. I haven’t had any issues here. Photos are sharp and the 1.8 aperture is totally satisfying.

Solid value at a very good price.

The only negative is the lack on on-lens image stabilization. The f/1.8 is fast enough for most situations I'm in, and at higher f-stops image sharpness seems outstanding to me. I've only used it in winter, so I don't know how it will do in very colorful environments, but the generally monochromatic settings have been fine.
