Saw this in theater when it first came out. CGI was phenomenal back then, and even though it hasn’t aged the best by today’s standards, it’s still really impressive. Personally, I like the story and plot. It’s a good movie.

Not related to the games, but still a solid movie

First of all let me say if you're looking for a fast-paced action-type movie like Final Fantasy Advent Children - this isn't your kind of movie, Advent Children is. In fact this movie isn't at all related to any of the games from what I can tell. This is a much more slowly paced movie that frankly I had to watch again to really take in fully. It's an entertaining movie because of the subtle drama elements that they put in + the fantastic CGI work. The basic story you can probably gather from the synopsis or IMDB, and in my opinion is a bit unusual to understand at first. Overall it had some great set-pieces with some great action, and explores a lot of the undertones of the quintessential character types like the headstrong general and optimistic scientist tropes. It does add some depth to these characters to show some of the motivation behind their actions rather than relegating them to cliches. I got into the movie once the pace started picking up and plot turns started to get thrown in. All in all, a solid pick up if they're on sale and you enjoy some drama and want to see some really cool CGI action.

This is movie is very underrated. It was a bomb at the box office but it is actually a very good movie. People got hung up on the final fantasy name too much.

While not based on any of the existing Final Fantasy games or game-worlds, "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" uses a lot of terminology and ideas that flow through that video game series. At the time, this movie was the pinnacle of computer animation and still holds up well, though it's beginning to look more like a video game cut scene than say "Avatar." Exciting, with lots of action and science fiction elements, this film has surprisingly good voice acting from all parties. There are a few places where the "uncanny divide" can take you out of the film, but over all this is recommended for fans of Final Fantasy and animated movies in general. There's also a great hidden extra with the principal cast doing the "Thriller" dance.

is the best of the bunch. This is Hironobu Sakaguchi's own creation and takes the spirit of what Final Fantasy used to be; A self contained, one-off story in a fantasy setting. No need to play any of the games to understand the story, so this is the only FF movie that ANYONE can get into without feeling like they need to be a FF geek to understand. Taking the futuristic setting out of the the other elements that hold everything together, you will find some of the RPG series staples here. The story could have been a game if Square wanted to go in that direction. Who said fantasy had to have magic and swords?

I remember when this movie came out and being a little disappointed it didn't follow the plot of any Final Fantasy games. After revisiting it as an adult I really appreciate it a lot more for what it is, rather than what it isn't. It's a good story with amazing CGI and special effects by today's standards, and the movie is over 15 years old! It looks great on blu ray and sounds terrific. If you like the sci fi genre it's worth a watch, even if you know nothing about the game series where it took its name.

This was the first Final Fantasy ever made for the big screen and although it was met with mixed to negative reviews, I believe it to still be a good movie. People just expected a video game story, but this was a new unique one and I believe people didn't give it a chance. I think it was a great take of introducing some Final Fantasy elements to film.

The item arrived on time and in great condition. The disk was 99.3% unscratched. I had been trying to acquire this movie in bluray format for sometime now.... Found it. It gets 4 ⭐ because the packaging was nothing more than a cardboard envelope with no bubble wrap.

this movie came out a long time ago. The computer graphics were great during that time. sci-fi and action packed. don't expect this movie to be like the final fantasy games. it got nothing to do with them and should not even have included in the title. not a must watch but good to watch

OK, it's not the best movie, and it did more harm than good to the FF brand, but it does still look and sound amazing on blu-ray. It also includes a digital hd copy which is always nice. The extras are forgettable, but overall it is still worthy to add to anyone's collection.

I never saw this film when it first came out in theaters or on DVD several years ago, but heard great things about it. I can honestly say I was not disappointed in the least bit. The Blu-Ray plays perfectly and the story and action sequences are awesome! The character animations are smooth and very realistic. All in all a great film and an even greater buy.

Not a true Final Fantasy movie, but still a fun movie to watch. The 4K release really does make the movie pop even with 20 year old animation.

When this came out, it was cutting edge. Still okay, but I like it for the storyline/etc now rather than the CGI. A blu ray version of a movie I've always had in my collection. Should look nice in HD.

There's a lot of negativity for this movie, however, I enjoy it and all credit to Sony for the ambition of enhancing a beloved video game series onto the BIG screen. CGI still is quite outstanding compared to today and the BLU RAY + Digital copy is good for any collection. Also, price is very reasonable.

You will need a lot of knowledge of the final fantasy series to really understand the full extent of the film. It is an good film if you know the stories involved, but it can extremely confusing without that knowledge.

The flow of this particular movie and the voice talents as well are what makes this one so great. It does justice for the series and is a must see for fans of the game series.

Don't get me wrong it is the worse Final fantasy movie out there mainly because it doesn't relate to any of the games. I'm a huge Final fantasy and have to own them all.

Final Fantasy's groundbreaking visuals paired with Ming-Na Wen's performance as Aki Ross help the movie explore traditional FF themes in a more realistic setting.

This is a very good cgi film which only carries the final fantasy name. I do not believe it relates to any of the games. Either way the transfer to blu ray is very sharp and the cgi detail is very good especially considering the age. Good price too.
