I've been a Final Fantasy player since Final Fantasy II on the SNES, and this really brings back some of the old Final Fantasy magic. The gameplay is entirely different, but that's good. The combat in this game is lots of fun with plenty of depth. I was put off the franchise for a while with FFXII, but this one really made me excited about Final Fantasy for the first time in years. I'm enjoying it on its own rights, and I'm going back to older games in the franchise.

Having started my Final Fantasy journey with the original NES game, I have played nearly every Final Fantasy game since. The story drives FFXV and that is what we have come to expect from the series.

Like many, I was introduced to Final Fantasy when FF7 hit the original PlayStation, and was sucked in, losing too many hours of my life to its masterful story. Since then, I've played, or attempted to play most of the games under the Final Fantasy moniker. While Final Fantasy X came close, and X3 got better as the series of 3 games went on, none have captured my wonder like 7. FF15 has gotten closer than any since 7, and even those like myself who have thought that magic will never be recaptured, should take a look at this one. A great purchase, and a fun return to FF.

... So good. I've been a fan of final fantasy since 6. I've seen it stutter over the years (especially 13 and 13-2) so I had high hopes for this one. And I can honestly say so far so good. I like the story thus far and the battle system reminds me more of a kingdom hearts type system. Active and fluid. The characters are likeable and I love that you can use either Japanese voices or English. I won't give a verdict for the overall game yet but if you missed final fantasy of old, this seems to have returned the series to its former glory. At least initially. I'll update this review later

Absolutely love this game! So happy they went back to purely open world. Great story, and new combat system is awesome!

    - Beautiful World - OK Combat, but magic system is unimaginative, Magic = Grenade - Lackluster Story whose important character building are behind paywalls, Characters who do not experience the more important parts of the narrative. You do need to watch Kingsglaive & the 4 anime episode to get the necessary character development of the story. - Underdeveloped Side Characters including an underdeveloped love interest. - Plenty of things to keep you busy - In short: Great Aesthetics & Good Gameplay, Lackluster Worldbuilding & Lore.

I didn't think I would like this game, but since it's final fantasy, i was willing to give it a chance anyway. I've played and completed FF7 and FF13. I got to the very end of FF8, but wasn't strong enough to beat the final boss. I've played the beginning of FF6 (which is FF3 in the USA). When you first boot up the game it says, "a final fantasy for fans and first timers." I will agree with that mostly, since you don't have to know anything of the story, and the battle system is nothing like the old days. However, there are somethings like knowing phoenix down is what to use when you've died, that the game doesn't explicitly explain... When I died the first time, it said, choose an item from the menu to revive yourself or the game is over... and I wondered how newcomers would know to use phoenix down, unless they are really paying attention. Anyway, besides the game not having any playable female characters (i assume that's how it is until the end), and the extremely long loading times. The game is a lot of fun. It feels a lot like the witcher 3, which was one of the last RPGs i played, but unlike the witcher 3 the game is actually fun, and it feels good to progress. One of the things I most enjoy is that there are plenty of quests they give you to level up, so you don't have to rely on random battles to grind. Also a new thing in RPGs is they give you a recommended level you should be before doing a quest. I've always thought grinding was a pointless part of Final Fantasies/Squaresoft RPGS (I'm a big chrono trigger/cross fan) At least now they tell you how much to grind, rather than making you guess when you're ready to go after a boss. Something i forgot to mention which is quite cool, and something metal gear has been doing for the last 3 games, is you can listen to old games soundtracks while on the world map, either in the car cd player or by buying a mp3 player in the game after chapter 3. I think this is awesome, although they are missing some good tracks from FF7 (why not just include everything/?) it would have also been nice to see more squaresoft games.. but maybe licensing their own music costs a lot? i'd like to have seen an album of normal pop/rock/etc music too. also i noticed the NES games music isn't the NES version of the music it's some updated version, which is a shame, because it'd be fun to hear NES music in a current gen game. In MGS 5 they let you listen to the NES music i think. Anyway, i'm still playing the game i'm 12-13 hours into it, so far it's sorta great.

Many hours of game play, well worth the price. It's different than the standard FF games in that it is an action based RPG and not a turn based RPG. If you like RPGs, this is a definite buy.

The battle system stands out the most to me as a long time FF fan. Real time combat replaces the turn based system you’re used to. It’s hectic and takes some getting used to, but it turned out to be one of my favorite parts of this game.

Finally after 5 years of waiting for final fantasy 13 versus and then another 5 years for final fantasy 15, it has been a long decade for this game. It's here and it looks wonderful! The Vistas are breathtaking. I admit I haven't had all that much time to dive in but it is already fun to play. I also really enjoyed the film that accompanied the game. It is almost difficult to tell the difference between the animation and real life. Very impressive tech piece.

I have been a final fantasy fan since FF VII and I can say that I am thoroughly enjoying this game. They did a great job of adopting the game to the current landscape of RPG's in the west while keeping the final fantasy flavor. The Story is good and is enhanced by the movie, which I recommend you watch before you play. The Side quest can get addictive to do as they usually dont take up too much time or effort but keep you wanting to do "just one more"

Final Fantasy XV is a great game and has succeeded my expectations on what I expected. The graphics are great, the story was amazing, and the gameplay was smooth. However, if you are someone that is going to pick up this game up and has never played another Final Fantasy, it can be hard to get into and really enjoy what is going on. Overall, I highly recommend this game to anyone that has had prior experience with any game from the FF franchise.

To start, this game has been a long time comin', but it was well worth the wait. Playing this on a vanilla ps4 is an experience on its own. TBH, u dont need a ps4 pro to enjoy this beauty. The story is excellent, meticulously written. Graphics is up there but when it becomes crowded or the landscapes are big, there are intermittent drops in the frame rate, but who cares? You're in this for the overall experience. PROS- story, graphics, and tons of quests much like the witcher 3 CONS- frame rate dips, summoning system was botched.

This game has incredible graphics. Its also absolutely massive. These are things I've come to expect over the years from the Final Fantasy franchise. After being completely turned off by Final Fantasy XIII and its sequels, i was very happy to see the franchise return to being a lot more open. I hate linearity in rpgs. The only downside is the story is pretty bad unless you watch the movie Kingsglaive. Its almost a prerequisite if you want to know exactly whats going on and to understand why things are happening throughout the game.

The franchise continues to improve and branch out. If you aren't a fan of Final Fantasy then this is the one to try it all again with. The depth of the open world and the reinvention of its battle system are gripping qualities to the game. The music, scenery and story are more than enough to grab but the game-play itself is in a league of its own. It may take time to get fully engulfed regarding set up but its worth it.
