The characters are great the story is interesting and there's plenty of replay value to see all the story has to offer. Anyone who loves tactical turn based RPGs should pick this up. Easily over 150hrs of content if you choose to play as all 3 houses

I absolutely adore this game! The story, the characters, the replayability?? I love it all! And the fact that it is fully voice acted is just a nice bonus. Even if you have never played a Fire Emblem game before (like me) you'll for sure love this one!

80 hours for a FE game has been about par for the course in entries like Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, at least for completists like me. And that's what the developer promises for just one of the House paths here. The issue some fans may have is the monastery school segments which can easily take up three-fourths of that time. There is tons of stuff to do, ranging from fetch quests to fishing to giving gifts to increase the bond with your students or helping recruit others. But the deeper I play (probably 20-plus hours in now) the more repetitive the process gets. It's mostly fun, but things like finding the owners for lost items can be very time-consuming and tedious. In short, this game falls victim to having too much busy work that gets in the way of its story progress and of course the focus on tactical battles the franchise is known for. Not saying it's all bad or that I'm against Nintendo trying new mechanics, but it does come off as having a lot of filler. For what it's worth you can skip the monastery parts and let the game handle your characters' progress, but neither approach really feels right, at least to me.

Great SRPG with three (technically three and a half due to a mid-game decision occurring through one story arc) separate storylines and a bunch of often quirky but likeable characters. Not as high on my favorites list as FE: Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

I went into this game thinking it would be mostly combat, like Fire Emblem Heroes for mobile. But it's actually a much deeper, richer game with an engaging story that actually makes you CARE about the figures you're moving around on the battle, and try really hard not to lose them. And to be clear, that's not a bad thing. I don't really like anime, and this game is in that style, but I like it anyway. There's so much replay value to it, too, since you can pick four different main routes that are all distinct and that's even before DLC comes into play. Highly recommended.

This game is amazingly well done. It has a lot of thought put into it, and the character development is spectacularly awesome. There is so much to do in this game, and I have just barely scratched the surface. It has tremendous and true depth. I understand it has extreme replayability as well. I’m still playing through the first house. I understand that after you’ve played 40 hours or so on the first house, you get to choose a different house and start over for another 40+ hours. With three houses that gives this game 120+ hours. I recommend it highly. The art is great, the controls are spot on, and the story is one of the best that I have ever played.

A decent game let down by its length

I love these kind of games because I grew up addicted to Shining Force on the SEGA Genesis and strategy RPGs are becoming very thin on the ground these days. The story is decent and the lore is very interesting, but they really should have thought out the formula better. Having to repeat the first half of the game three times in order to see all of the story is a complete slog. The maps being reused over and over again makes the game feel like it's just dragging its feet to extend the runtime. A shorter game with less busy work and the ability to skip the repeated content would have worked much better. Also the visual design is very dull, it desperately needs armor dyes or customization because your own characters look just as boring as all of the copy/pasted enemies. Enemy variety is lacking, it's usually just generic soldiers and bandits. Even the monster variety is small and not visually interesting enough. Voice acting is top notch, music is good but repetitive to the point where the Monastery music now haunts me in my sleep.

Though I have yet to fully complete this game, it is one of my favorite Fire Emblem games, and one of my absolute favorite Switch games. If you’re a FE fan, this game is a must-own. If you’re an RPG fan, this game is a must-own. If you like games with strategic, turn-based battles, this game is a (you can probably guess) a must-own. If you’re on the fence about getting it, maybe watch some videos on the internet about it, but you should seriously buy it. In short, this is a well-made game with lots of content.

The best thing about this game is that there are three fairly different campaigns. I’ve played through one and a half, and the stories are different enough to while sticking to the same overall structure. The battles are sufficiently varied as well. Lots of micromanaging of stats if you enjoy that, but you can automate a lot of it if you don’t enjoy it. My only real criticism is that it’s not terribly challenging for series veterans who take the time to min/max, but I suppose you can’t really help that if you want to keep the game accessible to new players.

Pretty labor intensive gameplay. If you’re looking for a game worth your money, this game will last you about 100 hours and that’s not including the DLC

I've been a fan of the franchise since they released the first fire emblem into the west on gameboy advanced. I've grown to love the new twist of putting time and effort into learning each character from all the classes. I loved just getting my units strong enough to crush everyone. Now I'm also obsessed with convincing all the women of three houses to come together and destroy everyone bahahah. P.S. my only real complaint is the game is very easy compared to past expansions. I'm hoping once I unlock lunatic mode (if that's the hardest mode) there will be more of a challenge in my second play through

Three Houses is a stellar game! I was hoping there would be more dungeons like there were in Echoes, but I think the new enemies and maps make up for that. The interactions we get with the characters while walking around the monastery is an awesome new feature too! It’s so much more immersive, and makes the story/stories all the more impactful. Whether you’re new to Fire Emblem or a longtime fan, Three Houses has a lot to offer to both, so there’s sure to be something you’ll love, from the beautiful soundtrack and artwork to the strategic gameplay and captivating storylines.

Everything that you know and love about Fire Emblem has been massively enhanced for the Nintendo Switch. Taking away the weapon triangle and adding combat arts makes battles feel way more dynamic and fluid compared to older entries where you felt as if you could only use certain units to progress. The hub of the monastery adds a ton of depth to the non-combat portion of the game, with fun little side quests and plenty of opportunity to befriend allies. Anyone looking for a super in depth tactics game with a well written story should definitely pick this up.

Great game. The graphics are very poor though. And the story while good, leaves so much to the imagination. Characters often talk of places and events that you as the player never get to see. For example there is this event that is going to take place at the monastery. But you never get to see it, a battle takes place somewhere outside of the monastery “during” said event and then thats it. The event is over. Before the event was supposed to start characters can be heard talking about how amazing the event is and how different the monastery becomes when it opens up, but you literally never get to see or experience it. I just find it odd that they go to great lengths establishing events and locations that never get to be seen, experienced or explored. Overall I enjoyed the game, even if the story left a lot to be desired. I enjoyed the actual gameplay though! Thats where this game shines, that and the music and voice acting are phenomenal!

This is my first ever Fire Emblem game and I can say that it is definitely a must play if you're new too. The strategic gameplay is incredibly fun and having the ability to individually control your party members is something I love. I picked the Blue Lion route for my first playthrough and all the characters are very engaging and deep! The story is great! No spoilers, but all I can say is I was super engrossed in it and have put in over 50+ hrs because I loved it that much! If this is also your first FE game, then I definitely recommend it.

Three Houses is Fire Emblem's return to non-portable systems and it was worth the wait! The new mechanics are interesting and the setting has so far felt deeper than the bases used in recent entries. There's plenty of content here; after nearly 20 hours of play I don't think I've scratched the surface of what the game offers even before playing the other storylines. It moves at a great clip and works well for both past fans like myself and those just getting into the series now. A must-own for any Switch user who enjoys RPGs!
