This has served as a very solid "cord cutting" alternative. After we moved in 2019, our family purchased the Amazon Fire Stick and a Fire TV Recast. The Recast faithfully records our favorite "Over The Air" shows. Easy to setup. Easy to program for recording. Remember that the functionality is dependent on getting good signal from the antenna, but as the Recast operates over WiFi it can be moved around the house as needed (doesn't have to be next to the TV)

It ultimately came down to the fact that it was time to cut the cable & start saving instead of over spending! So we got the Amazon Recast OTA- DVR, which is the best way to record those programs you don't want to miss, but just can't be home to watch! Coupled with a digital antenna & a couple of firestick streaming devices, it's really a great option for people that want to save!

I purchased this item since Dish Satellite stopped providing CBS & affiliate TV in mid August due to dispute with CBS. I now stream the channels as well as all other over the air channels (from my antenna) to an Amazon Fire Stick and don't have to worry about Dish or other provider disputes. The channel guide included works great plus I get more over the air antenna channels than Dish provides. Getting closer to dumping cable/satellite and this device helps in that effort. The price was also excellent.

I bought this over other DVRs due to the ability to watch recorded shows on a device when away from home. As well as the free onboard channel guide. I have an Android device and the app can sometimes be buggy forcing me to open and close several times to get the watch while away functionality to work.iOS devices might have better luck. Also be aware you'll need a FireTV stick on your TV as well to access your videos. I really enjoy the voice controls. You just tell it to search for a show and it'll show you all the ways to watch including any upcoming local broadcasts you can record for free.Other than the buggy app on Android I enjoy the device very much.

Exactly what I was looking for to go with my firestick

Good if you're have a good antenna over your roof not sure how it will work with a window antenna but from my experience a very good antenna on your roof facing your Tv towers will get your great results. Love it so far i'm able to watch live local Tv on my phone with the firetv app away from my house, you can also pause live Tv and resume in another room. You must have an antenna for your live local stations.

This TV tuner/DVR is a great add-on for your Firetv. This lets you add all your local tv stations and a DVR. Also gives you a very nice Guide and when you add other live tv apps such as Pluto tv, Philo or any of the premium channels from Amazon it will add them all into one Guide so it's like having the traditional Guide from your old cable company. Easy to read and easy settings to set recordings. Very happy with this product.

I had seen these before but was never interested in having a DVR, but learned that you could link it to 1 antenna and have it stream to every tv in your home. It integrates with the fire stick very well, channels show up just like your Netflix or Amazon apps. No switching inputs every time you want to go back and forth between antenna channels and apps. It's incredibly convenient and I feel dumb for not getting this when we first canceled our cable.

Love this thing it works great and I added a ext hard drive for more storage and couldnt be happier easy setup

The user interface on this device is amazing. I was able to connect my antenna and now can see a list of channels from my antenna together with other channels like HBO for example we purchased via amazon fire TV. Most integrated, easy to use and no monthly payment - we cut the cord and love this device. Already got our money back. I looked at many other "TV boxes" - but this one is the winner if you want to integrate local TV stations.

A must have purchase for cord cutters.... you need an external indoor or attic or even rooftop antenna for this. But over the air channels come in extreme high definition, they look even better than the cable channels. My only complaint is when you play the recordings back, you have to use your Wi-Fi. But other than that this thing gets five stars all the way.

Super easy setup. I have two firesticks and an echo show that I watch live tv on. The channel guide is free unlike alot of other OTA products. Here is a tip when using it with echo show. When trying to watch live tv on echo show you have to say "Alexa, open video home." Then say "Alexa, open channel guide". The instructions tell you to just say "Alexa, open channel guide." But hat method won't work.

I hesitated cutting the cable cord because I loved being able to record my favorite programs. I found Fire TV Recast and decided to give it a try. It is amazing!!! I have the one recast box and two TV’s with fire sticks. I recorded some programs and thought I would only be able to watch the recorded programs on one TV but I can watch my recordings on both TV’s. It is extremely easy to use. I highly recommend the Recast.

I'm able to record two OTA shows at the same time. I can then watch them from either of my two TVs: the one upstairs near the antenna or the one in the basement where an antenna will not get a signal, but can get the wifi signal.

Pretty cool to be able dvd record on schedule, of the air TV. Quick and easy setup. However, channels that the recasts thinks have a weak signal, it will place a onscreen pop up every 10 seconds. The picture can be perfectly clear, and there is no way to turn it off. Several online support pages have reported the problem, for over a year, with no fix. Annoying on about a third of the channels.

I have been a cord cutter for a while and one of the things I missed most about cable was my DVR. I have been searching for years for a way to record OTA broadcasts of my favorite shows. This unit not only allows me to record whole series, it also had a great guide so I can set specific shows to record days in advance. I can also watch live TV or my recorded shows on the go with my phone or tablet.
