works well had some issues setting up. I set the recast up with a firestick 4k and had to reset the firestick several times. Turns out the issue was the firestick. After the initial set up everything is working great. I am now able to pause and record over the air tv. Perfect and aloha to the high price of satellite and cable.

Absolutely everything we thought it would be. Turned off our TV provider and with the recast and fire stick we haven’t missed it one bit. Works almost just like cox DVR. Can record anything that is over the air. We love it!

Great for recording over the air programming. Wish it would record the program my husband wants on Hulu though.

We bought it then found out we had to buy Fire stick. The set up and support info for that is stupid. We hated paying for services that increased in price. This records what we want. We did lose a week or so of recordings and the ability to watch our regular tv. Had no clue why or that it was not working. Unplugged and reset fixed it. The app and instructions need to be better.

The Recast was purchased to resolve the issues of having an antenna in the basement and it solved it. The prompts for setup were easy to follow and if you already setup an amazon media device before, it was familiar. I haven't had any issues with connectivity, but I do receive messages about signal strength sometimes. It hasn't interrupted a show or error out yet. I have not used the DVR feature yet. It was a good purchase if you can catch it on sale.

If you are streaming and want to record live TV this is a much better option than any of the streaming services

I’m really happy with this purchase so far. You have the option of starting a recording from your phone if you’re away from the house and forget to schedule a recording so it’s really handy and user friendly.

Overall, the Amazon Fire Recast does all it says it does. It now has support for additional external hard drive to increase your storage. I do recommend going for the 4 tuner version. I found the 2 tuner recast a problem with a family household.

Set up was easy. Instructions are sparse as your Firestick and app do 90% of the work. I have 3 TVs and Fsticks. Took less than 1 hour to set up and have all three running. One flaw. Occasionally the dvr goes off line. No panic, recordings continue so you don't miss any shows. Big tip - restart your TV's Firestick and you are back in business. Even that problem has disappeared, once I hard wired the Rescan. On ethernet, no problems!

We decided to finally "cut the cord" which meant a search for a DVR to record over the air programming. This product seemed to fit the bill and also happened to be on sale, It seemed like a solid unit out of the box with the exception of the remote. The controls on the remote pale in comparison to the $25 Roku that we use for streaming. Could be because Amazon wants you to pair this with an Alexa for voice command control, but they could have done a better job with the design for those without that piece of equipment. The DVR unit does the job of recording the programs while having extremely slow load times for other uses. It is so slow that we use the Roku we have to watch Amazon streaming content. One extremely annoying aspect is that if you are watching a recorded program that overlaps with the start time of another recording the unit freezes up. I have not used other DVR's with the exception of the units provided by our previous satellite provider, so it is hard to judge how this device compares to the competition. My general feeling is that it may be best to keep looking if you are in the market for a DVR, as this device is far from stellar in operation and ergonomic design.

Excellent free DVR recording! Records OTR and streams channels perfectly. Hope another OEM picks up this device and continues selling it.

Set up was easy but directions to navigate app could be a little better

I had to get assistance from tech support to set it up; but it works like a champ! I’m recording shows from Pluto tv and Tubi TV with no issues. I’ve relaxed my directv DVR with this recast.

I really like being able to record my shows and watch them on my time. I especially like being able to tell Alexa to "fast forward four minutes" when I reach commercials. It appears that my internet is not fast enough to both record and stream some of the time. I does appear that telling Alexa to fast forward an approximate time works better than trying to use the forward button repeatedly. It even adjusts recording time to changes in the posted schedule due to football games on Sunday. It is not able to adjust to overtime (day of) changes though.

Great Dvr for off air. You do have to have a firetv, stick, or cube to be able to watch so don't think you are going to connect to your tv.

I decided to get rid of my carrier since they stopped showing several networks and start streaming but wanted to be able to watch a show later. The Fire TV Recast gives me that opportunity. Easy to use and does what I want.

I bought my first recast in 2020. I already had indoor antennas on two TV's but had live TV through DirecTV. I had the antennas on TV's with no DirecTV box. We decided to cut the cord and wanted to watch local channels that were not offered by streaming services on any TV in the house. We are prime subscribers and have multiple FireTV's so this was perfect. Plus the hard drive is included and there's no subscription . All went well until a few months ago. The recast would not keep it's connection to our router. No other streaming devices including FireTV's had this issue. Got a replacement under warranty. So far so good. If this one fails I will have to find an alternative since Amazon doesn't seem them on their website. I wouldn't recommend because of this limitation.
