Customers are saying

Customers regard the Flex - 8.9" Tablet's ease of use and screen resolution as significant strengths, with many praising its user-friendly interface and high-quality display. However, concerns exist regarding the battery life, which several users found to be insufficient for extended use. Limited storage space and the single micro USB port also drew criticism from some customers.

The Insignia 10" Tablet had everything I wanted. However, the battery heated up and felt like it was about to burn. BestBuy staff were gracious and understanding.

This small tablet is a big plus for simple things, got a pencil like pointer because of my big fingers, but its just as efficient as a small laptop.

The tablet had all the "earmarks" of being exactly what I wanted. As I followed system generated directions I felt heat. It seemed, the battery was over heating. When I returned it to BestBuy, they were gracious and noted the heat in the palm of their hands even before I discussed it with them. They simply said "defective." However, at that point I was too "spooked" ... to try a replacement.

First one out of the box was a dud had to return to Best Buy and they gave us another one which worked finally but too many things just didn't. Couldn't get the text size to change even though it was selected bigger and saved it never would and the battery dies fast. If you don't power down it will be dead when u go to use it again. Returned it and will keep looking or saving for iPad.

    Tablet In Summary

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Summary: Full review is below this section, however if you just want the basic review read this: For the price take of $150 you cannot expect too much, however, based upon the price tag this device does deliver more than what you expect. Though the device has a lot going for it; when running several programs at once and gaming (to an extent) you may run into delays and possible crashes. On the flip side if your needing something to do homework, surf the web, ETC this is definitely a device that would work well for you, and with it being a full windows 10 OS you can get your regular programs instead of only relying on the lacking windows apps market. Just remember internal drive space is limited to only 32GB minus 10GB for OS, which is expandable with the micro SD expansion. The biggest downside for me is that although it is classified as a "tablet" it does not feel that way. Switching between desktop mode and tablet mode is not smooth, and the touch elements are "iffy" at best. I would definitely recommend getting a keyboard and mouse that is compatible for this device if you don't have one already. Battery life is approximately 4 hours, so remember to keep your charger with you. Overall I do recommend this device for purchase, but with the limitation of minor and casual use. It definitely works well for a replacing laptops on the lower end of the market #and possibly children's homework computers#, however if you need something with power don't buy!! **full review below** Initial Comments: Was at best buy with the intent of making a purchase, and just happened upon the tablet section. While looking over the tablets I noticed a few tablets supporting windows 10, which peeked my interest. This is because I've been lugging around a fairly heavy laptop everywhere I go to do studying, programming, etc., so the premise of a tablet that could potentially replace my laptop appealed to me. Additionally the idea that it not only could replace my laptop but be a combination of my current tablet replacement would be another bonus. My initial rundown of the specs did grab my attention as they were not substantial or standing out above everything else. The battery is listed as only lasting 4 hours which is fairly true for general use but all this is expected with a $150 price tag. Additionally things like it crapping out randomly or crashing were on the forefront of my mine before purchase. After thinking about it for some time I decided to take the dive, and after playing with it here is my general review regarding this device. I'm focusing on how the device feels and handles for my general purposes. I'm not benchmarking or comparing other devices #although I may use comparisons#; nor am I reviewing every little minor detail of it. Enjoy!!! Aesthetics/General look and feel Overall it's a standard "cheap" tablet, it feel fairly weighted, which is something I appreciate personally when handling a small electronics. Conveniently it's not so heavy that when you hold it for long period of time it kills your arms. Buttons do feel cheap and in some cases feels like their not working but in the end they do work. The Micro SD slot it open to the world #no cap or cover#, which is just asking for lint to get in unless you have a chip installed. Additionally without the cover on the SD slot makes me nervous because my children are always attracted to small devices and making them disappear. Power cable is rather short, which makes it quite inconvenience when you laying in bed trying to use your tablet, and your cord only reaches aprox. 3 feet, but it's workable. The fact that the cords connects are on "top" of the device is a happy quirk. Additional note there is a micro HDMI slot, which I have yet to test because I cannot find my micro HDMI to HDMI cable.. I'll update later if needed. As far as the camera's they are not high quality but they work, and for Skype and video chatting cannot really ask for much more. In Use/Using the Tablet In general when you first start to use it, the feel and control do not feel as smooth as other tablets and it is noticeable. Although the OS makes it look good and you don't see a visual delay in the response, there is that lingering feeling during use. Additionally if you try to do too much at once #exiting and entering different apps quickly, running multiple items# you might end up over-working the device and freezing it #so far it has happened twice#. The touch sensors on not 100% precise, in some cases I tried closing a window and it's minimizing and maximizing, or when I try to touch something on one end the finger response is a fingers distance away. Though it's a full windows operating system, Microsoft still has a way to go to eliminate crossover feel between tablet mode to desktop mode. Personally I'm going to have to invest in a keyboard and mouse for this device as the tablet mode just doesn't feel "natural". Yes it works, but the digital keyboard is not smooth like other devices, and as mentioned about the touch sensors are "meh" so typing with it is difficult. Audio quality is quite surprisingly good, and rather loud, a bit unexpected for a cheap device. But there is no base speaker built in, so it sounds like "speaker phone" but for background music it's quite handy, and if you really need better quality sound grab some headphone. Bluetooth on it comes in handy as well for your headset, keyboard, mouse ETC... nor much else to say about that. Finally with the device it comes standard with 32 GB local expandable with Micro SD as mentioned previously, and expandable memory is always a double plus in my book, because of all the device limitations on other devices. Application and Operating System If your still with me thank you for reading, now we are going into the area where the tablet sort of lags. As with any review of windows 10 app market it is well behind others, so not going to beat that dead mule. The simple fact that this is the ACUTAL WINDOWS 10 OPERATING SYSTEM opens a whole new world, because you can not only use the lacking app market, but install and run some of your regular software. Unfortunately with only 32 GB there isn't too much play room, so yeah? Now in my house I have a high powered rig, so there definitely a difference in how quickly programs load on that machine vs. this one. But for minor activities like surfing the web, writing a document, etc. is where this tablet will shine; yet as always keep in mind as I mentioned before do to much and it will freeze! My final comment regarding this is between that crossover I mentioned before. With windows 10 there is an option in the settings to "switch" the device from desktop to table and back. Only way I can think to describe this is instead of having 100% desktop functions, the device removes many of those functions so that you can "more easily" use it as a table. Takes a bit getting use to, and I would recommend having the menu option pinned to your start, but still would rather use keyboard and mouse. Overall I enjoy this device, and I see a bright future ahead for it. Hopefully in the future they can improve on these devices!

The only complaints I have is that I had some trouble keeping the internet connected and some screens on windows 10 don't like to stay on the screen. After playing around for a few days we got all the bugs worked out. I'd buy another one.
