I purchased 2 Frigidaire air conditioners, one a 6000 BTU for bedroom and 8000 for living room (same model only higher BTU). Bedroom is totally closed off. I can turn on unit, set at 72, close room and in 10 minutes room is COLD (17x14). Living room is 17x14, off the living room is a small room 5x7 that is my computer room (can be closed off with a door). Next to living room is the kitchen which is 17x10 which I can also close off from the living room. If I close off all the doors set the unit at 72 and auto fan again the room is COLD in 10 minutes. I like to cook and do a lot of baking, when I do, I set the unit to 69 or 70 open the door to the kitchen set the fan on auto. This unit is so terrific I can have the oven on for 2 hours and the kitchen, living room and hallway and the computer room are all at a comfortable level. As far as people complaining about a noisy unit - PEOPLE GET REAL. You have a running motor and a compressor that goes on and off, in fact my fridge makes more noise than the air conditioners. Granted because of the continuous running motor I have had to turn my TV up a bit - but this is not a problem. I purchased installation and the young man who installed the units did so in about 1/2 hour - extremely efficient and knowledgeable and removed all packing. Did anyone who installed the units themselves possibly not install correctly????? Could this be the reason the unit is not functioning correctly or is noisy? I also had printed out my 20% coupon that BestBuy had offered and got a further discount. I am retired and live on a fixed income, therefore I did a lot of reviewing before purchasing. I am so happy with my 2 units and with the service from BestBuy and with Frigidaire that I am considering buying a new fridge in the fall. I do not find any BAD features with these two units.

It makes to much noise when the condenser gones on.

The fan barely feels as if it is pushing air our. I purchased 2 and 1 continues to shut off for no apparent reason. The bottom line is it does not keep the room at the temperature desired.

This air conditioner efficiently cools down our 10x10 bedroom well enough that we can use heavy blankets, and if we leave our door open with a fan blowing out it can help cool the rest of the house a little as well. It has a sleek, clean design and lots of helpful features (remote control, sleep timer, temperature sensing auto-shutoff option, filter change indicator light). It's also been running a lot during this hot summer and hasn't added much to our electricity bill. The only complaints are that it's not great for people who need it dark and quiet when they sleep. The fan and compressor are constantly loud, and the front panel, while clear and easy to read, are bright enough to create a glow from that side of the room.

The unit is fairly solid all the way around. It is quiet ( not silent ) enough that I am able to use it in my nursery. The remote is a great touch and installation was painless. The only downside is that the unit does not drain well. When I took it out of the window, a fair amount of water spilled onto the carpet. All in all, this was a great purchase. I'm strongly debating getting another one for my bedroom. Just drain the water before pulling the unit back inside your house.

This is our second duplicate Air Conditioner, the first one returned due to excessive noise causing serious lack of sleep, the 2nd one had the same problem so we investigated and discovered the fan hitting the water because the water was to deep and couldn't drain due to the lack of a drain hole in the proper spot caused by lousy manufacture design. Easy fix, we drilled a drain hole. No more noise! Why did we have to redesign the product to be able to live with it? I don't for one minute believe the manufacturers didn't know about this problem. Fix it maybe the reviews will change!

This is a great AC for bedrooms and small living spaces. We have a ~600 sq ft apt in the city and it has the power to cool off the living room. It also cools off the bedroom (located adjacent to the living room) if the door is left open. A lot of people have complained about the noise and yes, it makes noise but isn't that pretty standard for most ACs? It's not a deal breaker for me. Installation was quick however we have a vinyl window and didn't want to drill holes in it so we used clear packing tape to seal off any gaps along with the foam strips included in the box. So glad we didn't pay more for a 8,000 btu AC because this one works just fine. Hope this review helps!

not happy with this. Not sure if it was because it was defective, but returned it anyway.

The installation instructions were precise and helpful. It cools well and the timer function is very useful. However when the compressor is running everything vibrates. After trying for weeks to find a solution to the grate over the filter rattling, I gave up and just removed the grate. The air flow vents at top vibrate; the control panel vibrates; the filter itself will buzz if not taped to the frame. Prior to removing the grate I could not use it at night as the vibrations/rattles are too loud and annoying. So, without the grate in place it isn't pretty but at least I can now sleep.
