I have this a/c in my livingroom/dining area it works wondering happy with my unit

Although this air conditioner was easy to install and cools quickly, we found it to be very loud. Could not sleep with it on so it had to be returned.

Our central air had problems and wasn't cooling the den. Put in the Air conditioner and the air circulated perfectly. Fit conviently Inside the window and has energy save mode which is great!!

I bought 2 and was able to cool my whole 3 bedroom apartment

i have already paid someone to place it into the window. now the loud noise has begun . i wish to remove it but will have to pay more again

I read the raving reviews which is one of the reason I purchased the unit. I used this unit on the second floor at first. It is set on 66 degree Econ, the room thermostat said 72 degrees. I moved the unit downstairs, same thing. I called the manufacture phone number, which gave me another number to call. I spent 54 minutes on the phone with customer service, for them to read me all the reason it may not be cool in the room. From my room thermostat is wrong, to the room too big. A different brand unit (SoleusAir) same size, set on 70 degree, Econ, room thermostat said 70 degrees, both up and downstairs. Bottom line don't buy this unit unless you want it to run nonstop, and not use the energy efficiency features, or just buy the biggest unit for the smallest room.

This is the noisiest window unit I have ever run across. I can't hear the TV if I have the fan set on medium or high. Also, it makes a shockingly loud beep when you adjust the settings. I regret buying this, but it's too late (and too hot outside) to exchange it. Be warned!

I've moved into a new apartment without an air conditioner for the first time, and now that the temperatures are solidly in the 80+ area here in NYC, I decided to purchase one. Installation was very easy. I am NOT mechanically inclined in the least. The most advanced tools I own or have ever operated are a screwdriver and hammer. I don't think I've ever successfully assembled any piece of furniture without at least one tirade of profanity. That being said, I had it up and running about 20 minutes after I opened the box. I couldn't screw in the locking screws in because my window frame is metal, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference (provided my window doesn't magically open itself...) It also comes with a roll of weather stripping, so no need to purchase any separately. I use it for cooling my kitchen and living area, which is around 275-300 square feet, plus a small hall leading to the bathroom, which is maybe another 30ish square feet, well within the advertised 350 feet of coverage. It does a pretty good job of cooling the area. Not super fast, but it gets the temps down. If you're the kind of person that needs real silence in order to sleep, I wouldn't recommend putting this in your bedroom. On low, it isn't terrible, but still louder than I would have expected. On the other hand, I sleep during the day due to my work schedule a lot and personally like a bit of white noise in the background to help drown out some of the urban chaos going on outside, so it's sort of plus really. The other reason I wouldn't put it in the bedroom is the loud beep it makes every time you press a button. It's nice to have confirmation that the unit received a command from the remote, but it'd also be nice to have an option to turn that off. The remote control itself is quite nice. It can do every command (except activate the clean air mode, for some reason) and has an excellent range. I've stood in far corners of the room and pointed it at odd angles and still works. The sleep function is kind of neat if you do plan on using this in a bedroom. It assumes you get 8 hours of sleep a night (which might be a stretch for many....) Activate it when you're going to bed, and 30 minutes later it raises the thermostat by 2 degrees. 30 minutes after that it goes up another 2 degrees. It stays at that temperature for 7 hours, at which point it reverts back to the original temperature. Overall it's a pretty good product. It'd be nice if it were quieter though, both in terms of the operating noise and the loud beep issued every time it receives a command.

I bought the unit on Monday 7/5/10 for our TV room. When I first put it on the fan was on high and very loud, but as I turned it down, it was not so noisy. It wasn't on that long, and you could notice a remarkable decrease in temperature. It is amazingly lite for a 8000btu unit, but not that light where you think that there is nothing inside the box. From outside of the house you can really feel the heat being sucked out by this thing. I am very impressed with its compact size and delivered power. It starts our with a 72 degree setting which is quite comfortable. So far I am happy with the unit, and it will make for an easy removal after the summer. If it holds up, it will definitely be worth the money.
