Its Hayao Miyazaki, If you have never watched one of his movies i highly recommend you start. Any of them will do, then watch the rest of them. When he announced his retirement last year many of us were very sad until we heard his wife say "We'll see how long he stays retired."

When you watch a Studio Ghibli, you are transported to a perspective seldom seen in American animation. My first Studio Ghibli exposure was Princess Mononoke, I have been hooked ever since. The movie has a similar "slice of life" feeling as Whisper of the Heart.

The story is set in the 1960s as Japan is in the midst of swift modernization. Everything about this movie is beautifully precise as you would come to expect from a Studio Ghibli production, yet sweet and simple, without the magical elements present in the studio's most iconic features.

This film has a very heartwarming story line to it. While I am a huge Miyazaki fan, I wanted to give this a try coming from Ghibli. It does not have the fantasy part that I have grown to love about Miyazaki, but this film has captured me none-the-less. The young love and the growth of the characters was exactly what I have come to know and respect. A great addition to my large collection. I would buy this again.

Always loved Studio Ghibli animation, Wish it came with 4K and definitely a digital file, so i can complete my vudu movie collection.

From Up on Poppy Hill is one of the weaker Studio Ghibli films, but it's still solid and looks great on Blu-ray. And for those who care, it looks like copies come with a slipcover again; however, I can't comment on whether it's the same slipcover that was included with the original pressing--probably not--but it's better than nothing, eh.

Great movie! Drawn by Hayao Miyazaki even though it was technically directed by Goro. Not my favorite of Hayao's, but still really entertaining!

A very exciting tale about being young and the responsibilities that come as we get older. Any fan of Miyazaki will love this film for the same reasons they love Howl's Moving Castle, Whisper of the Heart, and Castle in the Sky.

It is another beautiful movie of Miyasaki. I can not wait to play the movie for my children and grandchildren. Like me they love his movies like Ponyo , Arriety and more.

We really enjoy this one. It's not the fantasy-based Howl or Spirited story line. More like Whispers of the Heart. Nice story. Well told, drawn, expressed.

The best movies come from Studio Ghibli. This is no exception. Story, plot, character developement. It has it all. Don't get me started on the animation. OMG!!!

the animation is great and the story telling is good except that the ending is just there. they discover the truth and that's it. but still a good story.

Dark, but also cheery and optimistic. Great in all the ways other Ghibli films are always amazing. Recommended, but a bit darker than other films.

Not as fantastical as other Ghibli greats like Totoro and Spirited Away, but that doesn't make it any less of a movie. Definitely worth watching.
