I bought this compact external hard drive specifically for travel use. I was concerned that it would not be compatible with my 2011 MacBook but it worked fine. The cable connections seem pretty sturdy between the hd and the laptop. Overall I'm very content with the product for the quality and price.

A very good external drive; very fast with USB Type-C interface. I had no problems purchasing, receiving, unpacking, configuring and using the drive. The only minor issue I had (this is why 4 stars) that the drive came formatted for Mac; I needed it for Windows. Manufacturer's web site provided detailed instructions on how to clean/initialize/format the drive, and this helped to prepare it for my environment. I left the drive formatted as NTFS (I don't plan to use it with Mac computers), and it works just fine. Another (minor) issue is that the cables provided as part of the packaging could be a few inches longer - many desktop computers have USB ports located in the back, and the cables are barely long enough to reach them. Overall, I'm happy with the drive, and hope it lasts long time. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for moderately priced, high capacity fast external storage.

First off, G-Tech is the best. I trust all my photo and video for work on their drives, big and small. These are my favorite to travel with because I get a TB in a nice slim drive that I can pack in any bag and do some photo editing on the go. Reliable, fast, and portable!

I bought this to store my movies, tv shows and misc files to access them when internet is not available. It does what I need it for. It’s small, light weight, quiet and, although not extremely tested, durable.

This external drive is used for back up for Time Machine on my iMac. It is quiet, fast and reliable. The only thing I miss is a light to tell me when it is on or when it is backing up.

This external hard drive was extremely easy to hook up and even easier to save information on. I am so happy with the ease of use to back up my computer on with plenty of storage.

Very easy to use, not too bulky. My sister has a 2016 macbook pro, which has a USB-C port so this external hard drive was perfect.

I bought this drive to use with my new HP Spectre laptop. I wanted a drive with the USB type c (3.1) to match my laptop. It works well. Compact, lightweight, and fast-as advertised. My only issue (and it can be quite annoying) is that, periodically, the drive will inexplicably lose connection with my laptop, only to reconnect a few seconds later. Even though it is connected via cable. It doesn't happen very often; but, as far as I'm concerned, it shouldn't happen at all. Otherwise, I would probably give this drive five stars.

The hard drive is a good deal for the price point. It is small, light weight and easily portable. For a spinning disk it has a high transfer rate. Even when transferring large files the drive stays quiet. As someone who uses the drive in a recording studio and has high demands, it meets all my needs. Two thumbs up. Would recommend.

I needed a separate drive for my computer at work, as I was told i was hogging server space. I had a choice between this and a 4TB WD drive. I asked the guys at the store, and they recommended this as more dependable. I really didn't need 4TB either. The only two issues I have had so far are 1) When I connected it to my Asus Win 10 desktop unit, the puter acted like all all the resources were being used. HIGHLY buggy and verrrrryyyy slow response. I had it plugged into a USB 2 port. I tried a UBS1 and the slow response was cured, but no drive letter was assigned. Same thing happened with my laptop. I took it back and the Geek Squad did something, and now it's visible in Win Explorer. However, I still cannot use it on the USB 2 port. 2) I wasn't terribly happy with greatly dumbed down directions for use, or the similar on the website. I realize this is what manufacturers feel they have to do with the new millennial market, but it's rather frustrating to an old guy like me who is used to actually reading and implementing detailed instructions and trouble shooting flow charts, as opposed to 5 picture-grams worth of installation instructions and 10 FAQ responses on the manufacturer's support page. Other than these two complaints, the unit seems to be doing what it's supposed to. I would recommend it, but with qualifications based on the technology abilities of the end user, and only due to my perceived lack of detailed manufacturer support.

Easily set up and working via disk management in 3 mins. Good looking slim case about wallet size and if you don't have USB C it comes with a USB 2 cable. It's a mechanical drive but quiet.

I wanted a small external drive to use with my iMac Pro USB-C connectors. I was originally looking for a Thunderbolt drive when I came across this G-Drive. When I got it home and connected it to ny iMac I was blown away by the speed I was getting from this shirt-pocket drive? While this is not using the Thunderbolt3 protocol; the USB 3.1 Gen 2 USB-C connection is more than capable of keeping this drive operating at max capacity.

This is the second purchase, and the second review of the same product. I have purchased this drive in July for our new HP computer. We have purchased another desktop recently, and the first accessory I wanted was this drive - it is very fast, reliable, fairly easy to configure (need to reformat it to work with Windows, and the manufacturer has detailed instructions for this on their web site). USB Type-C port works great, the drive is very quiet. I'm very satisfied, and the only remaining concern is that I had to do the reformatting (including changing the file system type). Otherwise, great purchase and great price.

Ive used GTech drives for a while and lately their drive quality has improved. The UBC-C cord is very fast and you can also use a traditional USB 3.1 cord.

This is the best storage drive on the market for the price. When Apple recommends a product, it must be excellent . I have the same opinion.
