This one was surprisingly good. The pace is good, and the actors do a good job. Supposedly, it's based on a true story, but you don't need to know any of the history. I guess that's why Sean Penn's face is made up so much--to make him look like the real gangster. I thought it made him look cartoonish. Other than that, I have no complaints about the cast. It may not be the most realistic gangster movie, but if you're looking for a gritty, enjoyable gangster movie with a great cast, this is it!

I think this is a great movie I enjoy the acting and the action is very well played out throughout. It has a great looking picture and audio sound highly recommend this title. It is a reasonably priced bargain blu-ray title so don’t hesitate on this wonderful movie that’s full of action.

Don't waste your time renting this one. Go buy it. Definitely worth the price! Awesome mobster movie with cool cars, music, guns, and badguys. Simple story of take down the badguys the coolest way possible. Great visual effects where it counts, and well placed slowmotion throughout some intense gun fights. Some light hearted dialogue, but movie maintains a very serious tone. Lead character that you can easily cheer on, and a bad guy that is fun to hate. Into movies like: LA Confidential, The Untouchables, Road to Perdition, or even Goodfellas?... You will not be disappointed purchasing.

If you are in the mood for a hyper-stylized time waster, you can check this flick out. I had a great time with this movie, I didn't take it too seriously but most people did, that's understandable, it's a super flashy modern day Untouchables movie with great high class actors. Booming sound and beautiful digital picture will ease you right in with its charm.

I couldn't tell if this movie was going to be just another noir film with the old school LA crime scene, but this movie didn't come across as basic. This was a perfect cast for the old school crime genre of the movie and the storyline didn't disappoint either. If you're a fan of crime movies then I definitely recommend

I enjoyed this movie, wasn’t your typical gangster plot movie.

When I saw this film, I was reminded of SCARFACE, THE UNTOUCHABLES and L.A. CONFIDENTIAL. Though not a great film as those three (it wants to be like those, but can't reach them), it still holds your attention. And if you like gangster stories from the 30's, you'll love it. Just love all those tommy gun shootouts.

It was inexpensive so for the price a decent movie

Let me start by saying we had a movie night and were 7 people total watching this Blu-Ray. Ranging from ages 19 to 67, I can say we all enjoyed it. It is based on a true story and it grabs your attention from the beginning until the very end. All the actors did a fantastic job and there was plenty of action. We recommend this movie.

Fun cast does their job with an investing story. Kind of a rehash of traditional LA cops and robbers story. Opens the question of difference between the two factions fighting each other without presenting any realistic answers. Illustrates the "winners" ultimately writing the history.

This movie was not what I thought it was going to be

The film is notable for Sean Penn's portrayal of a murderous Mickey Cohen. Josh Brolin was also quite watchable as a tough-as-nails square-jawed detective. I was not pleased, however, when I discovered how far this "based on true events" movie strayed from historical fact. The movie is fiction, folks!

Not much to say here... It's a good movie, but not a great one. Was kinda hard finding the Blu-ray copy that included the DVD; it wasn't clear by looking at the packaging. Anyway, it's a good gangster movie. Personally, I enjoyed "The Untouchables" more. But as a newer movie, it's worth watching.

Despite some of the movie critics slamming this movie.... I found it thoroughly enjoyable. There is a usual story line associated with cop movies, but the brilliant cast and interesting mix of characters make for a very satisfying watch. The costumes and set are also worthy of particular mention.

I dont usually watch ganster/mob type movies but this was a present for a friend and I watched it with him. I admit, I was impressed. what an intriguing story! Josh Brolin was my fav but honestly everyone in every role was really good. Sean Penn blew me away as the mob boss :]

Can't stop seeing till end of the movie. Real adrenalin pumping action. Not very much use of computer graphics. Cinematography, lightings, art direction, costume, everything will bring to the that past year, where you can not differentiate between current time and the past time. The story line is so strong, you must agree that this is what call nail byeting moment. This is a must watch movie.

If you are looking for plenty of gun play and car chases. This movie is for you. The story is simple : the head of police formed a squad to stop a ruthless gangster in LA. This movie is not close to Untochables which provides good depth and detail of the story but still good.

Amazing video and audio quality puts you right in the middle of the action. Based on real events - to an extent - the cast works in some instances, but misses in others. Overall, a fun popcorn movie, and one of the few period gangster movies to come along quite a while.

Good to add to my home automation. I plan to increase the scope and sequence of projects by buying more smart products from Best Buy. The movie was added to my library!
