Customers commend the Dash Cam 46 for its excellent video quality and ease of use, along with its compact size and helpful features like lane departure warnings and voice control. Positive feedback also highlights the straightforward installation process and the convenient magnetic mount. Easy to use and setup. The safety features such as lane departure and collision warning are basically useless, warning that you’re too close under normal circumstances and it cannot tell that your signal light is on making lane departure pointless as well. Cool to see the technology in a small inexpensive device though. Voice controls work are surprisingly useful.

The only reason we purchased was to 'film' our trip across SD and Wyoming while visiting many national/state parks. Totally impressed! Captured images and video on command, quality clear and crisp. Downloads to our phone for extra storage. Now we need to purchase a new disk and install in one of our cars, not the rental. If you are looking for a good dash cam.... this is it!

I've tried many brands and every car gets a dash cam installed. That's 5 cars now. Every time I get something different I've ended up going back to Thinkware. This time I found the Garmin hot the mail on the head. Work so well. Wi-Fi access through my phone. Notification features are excellent. Video is excellent. Overall simple to access, setup and use. Very happy

Installed in my truck just behind the rear view mirror and it’s out of sight out of mind. Captures great video and audio. Took about a day tweaking to get the alignment right to make the lane assist and collision warning accurate. The manual doesn’t say it, but you need to align the guides to the horizon line. Great little system for the money.

I returned the first unit because it turns on and off randomly. The replacement unit works fine as far as being in hot (Minnesota summer) and cold (Minnesota coldest day, the camera still turn on and record). One feature that is very handy is using your voice to take picture and save video. It records what happen but not much detail. I also love how it mount to the windshield, I hate suction cup style mount.

The dash cam shoots perfect HD video. The extra long cord worked great for tucking and hiding in your vehicle. Magnet is super strong! The warning about collision, moving traffic, crossing lanes ert are perfect but it can be quite annoying so you can have the option to turn it down. Definitely love this item and recommend it

My Garmin Dash Cam 20 finally quit working recently so I upgraded to the Dash Cam 46. The first Dash Cam 46 I received ended up being defective; it would turn on but would not recognize any memory cards, so I exchanged the defective unit for a new one at my local Best Buy. The replacement Dash Cam 46 worked perfectly out of the box. I also bought a new memory card (PNY 128GB ELITE-X), which seems to be working fine even though PNY memory cards are not listed on Garmin's chart of compatible cards.
It's very easy to install the low profile magnet mount. I initially mounted it in the center of the windshield behind the rearview mirror but the mirror blocked the view of the dash cam display so I couldn't read the safety warnings. I used the included 2nd magnet to mount it lower, just below the mirror so I can view the warnings now. I routed the power cable along the top of the windshield to the side then down, using some spare wire clips that came with my THINKWARE F50 (mounted in the rear window).
I bought this unit mainly to serve as a dash cam but the safety warnings have been helpful.
I had no issues connecting the dash cam to my phone. Being able to see the live view was particularly helpful when trying to select a position to mount the dash cam.
Some of the cheaper dash cams cause the TPMS indicator to illuminate (even though the tires were properly inflated) but so far, I have not had an issue with the Garmin 46/20 dash cams and THINKWARE F50.

I thought I knew what to expect with a dashcam. Likely, what I expected was several generations of product ago. I was shocked how small this was. I was expecting something the size of my phone when I asked for a dashcam. This is about the size of a short, fat box of raisins (minus the lens that sticks out). The cam starts recording as soon as the car starts and would act as a security cam even when parked and the car was off if I decided to hardwire it into my car. Video quality is very good. The features are solid as well. The lane departure alert is kind of a pointless bell and whistle as it isn't really consistent. Being able to access videos from your phone is also a handy feature. It also comes with two different length power cords to allow you to decide how to orient the wire into the power point. I am definitely pleased.

The dash cam is easy to set up, easy to use, and captures footage when you need to. Lane assist, front collision warning, and red light camera detection are awesome features to have in a camera at this price.

This came in essential when a truck lost part of its load and hit my car, captured the moment and made a claim much easier.
Some of the alerts can be a bit annoying after a while, like at green lights, or cars slowing down in front of you.
Thankfully you can disable them.
Day or night, has recorded everything just fine.

I have three of these dashcam. Good quality for the price. Very reliable and easy to use. Highly recommended. Garmin name brand lived up to my expectation. I do like the lane assist bonus. Keeps me aware if I am not paying attention to lanes and moving traffic ahead.

This is my 2nd Garmin Dash Cam and I upgraded for the multi camera option. Yes the new garmin dash cams can pull from the same app on your phone. The app does not show a map it's just basic video editing. You can still use the PC/MAC software tho to see the map that still works. Hardcodes GPS and your speed information at the bottom of the video. Waiting for the 1440p version to come available and this 1080p one will go to the back view. :)

Replaced old Garmin Dash Cam

I replaced an older Garmin Dash Cam that started to fail me (I had it 6-7 years) with this model. I was able to get it on sale which was nice. When I received it, it was much smaller than I anticipated. Set up was super easy. Placement is also easy because it's so small you can place it at the top of your windshield and it's barely noticeable from outside. One piece of advice though is to purchase the suction cup mount from Garmin or Amazon so that way you can adjust the camera angle as needed. Exporting videos from this unit is quick and easy. Any video I've exported that is less than a minute long only takes about a couple of minutes to process and download to my phone. Operation is also easy. You literally just plug it in and let it go. It records when the car is on so there's no thinking about having to power it on manually.
