    My new garmin

The screen is easy to view. I especially like the image of all the lanes with my intended lane highlighted. The voice prompts give directions and a last minute reminder so there is adequate time to maneuver. In the search option some items have helpful ratings and reviews by Trip Advisor. The size of the screen is much easier to view than my smart phone. If the posted speed limit is exceeded there is an audible alert. I have noticed a couple of times the posted speed is not accurate in the garmin. When I fly to a vacation spot I always pack my garmin

Have had a very good experience with this Garman GPS. This is my third Garman and all of them have been, and still are, very good technology and accurate. My first is over 20 years old and still works fine. I have one for each vehicle I drive and I am very satisfied with them.

Good Garmin GPS and decent screen size. Battery seems to always be a issue where it doesn’t really hold a decent job. I was hoping it would work overseas where I can download the maps but I guess it’s no longer available for overseas. Really disappointing but good for use in the U.S.

    Excellent Almost 5 Star GPS

So close to being 5 stars! Great GPS - four stars instead of 5 because it is relatively slow and not entirely a substitute for Google Maps. For example, some restaurants and places to visit are not easily searchable or even searchable at all with the exact name. But pros way outweigh the cons. In the US, it'll even show you what a highway exit looks like in addition to telling you which lane to be in and when to exit. In Scandinavia, it works very well on large and smaller roads, but without the digital image of major exits. If you will travel outside North America, then you'll need to purchase the additional regions. Europe was about $100 and worked very well in Denmark and Norway. Another plus is that it works fine when walking, so if you are abroad and can't get cell service navigation, this is very handy.

First ever GPS unit and it was pretty straight forward and simple. Only used it on one long trip so far and it was right on the money, even with back roads and small town streets. Over the course of a 950 mile trip there was a lot of time to play with it and learn features, the more I learned the handier it was. Had a detour when I-80 west was closed completely, and even though I just followed he line of traffic (long line) it was helpful to see where we were all heading, instead of wondering the whole time.

Best GPS ever! Cell phones’ GPS not accurate when cell’s battery is low; you’ll never ever have that problem with this useful & easy to use gadget! Love the warning tone if I’m going over speed limit & love that I’m alerted to upcoming red light cameras. I very highly recommend this GPS to anyone who needs to feel secure when driving.

I waited until I used this in the Smoky Mountains to review it. I bought this because my car does not have a gps system and there is usually no reception in the mountains. I'm so glad I purchased this. It was a great price for piece of mind! I usually just entered the visitor center to where we were trying to go and it found it right away. I would never go to the mountains without this again. I would definitely recommend this especially if you are going to a place where you know the reception isn't great.

Excellent. Does what is advertised. Not huge and battery doesn't drain fast as some units. I recommend taking it out of window in hot weather. Extreme heat could cause an issue. I have Apple Car Play in my vehicle but I keep this for when I'm not in my vehicle. Uses it on a trip to Kentucky not long ago. Extremely accurate!

Love Garmin always very accurate and very user friendly. My only issue is that the maps for my area is some of the new roads are not recognized. Other than that love it and the express program is super easy

Easy to set up. Comes with the power cord, and a holder. I bought an extra SD card and put it in the slot. I updated the maps from the Garmin website. This GPS got me from Boise Idaho to Portland Oregon. It's great, especially in area where internet connection on a smart phone is less than stellar. I recommend!

Good GPS / Poor Garmin-written instructions

Garmin manual seems to have been written by engineers who already know the product, not by lay people. Had it explicitly spelled out the common issues below, one would waste less time Googling for answers, or Chatting with their Agents. You would think they would want to minimize these cases. Mini USB cable supplied might as well be thrown away. It can ONLY power the unit or connect to a PC; it will NOT recharge the battery. I wasted 2 hours trying to get it to initially charge in the house. Most people do not have inverters for car "cigarette" outlets for home use. Most other cables, such as those for your Smartphone can. You may need a Mini to Micro adapter if you don't have another Micro cable of your own. Current.GPX file on your old Garmin unit only saves Favorites, not Routes. Copying it to this unit requires renaming that file to Current1.GPX (note the "1') on the PC, then pasting into the new unit's folder. Otherwise, the Current.GPX file on the new unit file will keep getting clobbered the next time you turn it on, and you will still have nothing. When done properly, you will have both Current and Current1 files on the unit, and your Saved places split between the 2 files. When connected to a PC, it goes into File Transfer mode and does not function as a GPS for the duration. As I said, it can charge the battery at the same time provided you do NOT use their stupid cable. Trips are done via Trip Planner app, not as stored routes as on some of the old Nuvis like the 1490. There is no documentation on how to Delete a Route. Customer Agent also took some time to figure it out with me. There is no 3-line Icon on the upper left. You go into your App, but go no farther than listing your routes. Then look for the diagonal wrench symbol on the upper left so that you can then Delete a Saved Trip.

This gps works well. It has nice features and is reasonably priced especially when it is on sale. If you have owned Other Garmin GPS products, you probably won’t be disappointed with this one. Even though many smart phones can be used as as a gps these days, it is still nice to have a stand-alone gps that doesn’t rely on cellular coverage areas and is less likely to drop out when you really need it.

This is a great basic GPS. We have one in each of our cars now. Easy to use, the only features it does NOT have, if these are a problem where you live: No elevation or traffic. Where we live, traffic is not an issue, but take that into consideration. Otherwise, a great GPS, does much better navigation than our TOYOTA system.

Does it do everything that the more expensive GPS units do? No. But if you are looking for a basic/low-cost Garmin, this is it! Very easy to program to get from point A to point B. Easy to maneuver from screen to screen. Easy to download map updates. I am ready to drive into the unknown with great confidence.

I works very good after i gut it setup the direction for setup were a little difficult for me. It is easier to follow than the previous on --it even mentions stop lights and and stop signs at turns which is good. But both of us are in our mid 80s and we appreciate all the help we can get one thing I noticed on setup for trip it commented it was updating and it may take a some time this can be bad if a person was in a hurry
