Customers are saying

Customers commend the DriveAssist 51 LMT-S for its excellent camera, which is frequently praised for accident protection, and its user-friendly GPS navigation system. Many appreciate the ease of use and the helpful voice command features. While some users mention limitations in battery life and memory card functionality, the positive feedback on the core features outweighs these concerns.

After looking at several different GPS's, I chose this one. I like the fact that not only do you have a GPS, but you also have a camera that can record what is happening on the road ahead of you. It also have a 5 in. screen which is a larger than a lot of other models. The only thing I do not like is the sound of the women's voice which I imagine I can change.

upgraded from an earlier Garmin and really like the way it has the turn directions, like, turn at the next stop sign, or turn at the next traffic light, and i like the camera on it, overall a good GPS.

The Dash Cam captures so much wildlife in Alaska. Its great for those "awh" moments and beneficial for every city driving.

I really like this Garmin I purchased. The screen is perfect size and is easy to read. What I don't like is the battery does not hold charge very long - maybe 1 hour or so. Also, we had purchased a Garmin 4 years ago, and we could use the same wall charger, since this one we just purchased did not come with one.

I have been using GPS units for over 15 years now and I believe this is the best unit I have owned. It is a nice affordable mix of features. The integrated dash cam makes it worth every cent.

Does a wonderful job of monitoring traffic, selecting the best route, rerouting silently when I do something it doesn't expect and alerting me to road difficulties up ahead. Lets me know which lane to be in, gives me landmarks on my route and generally does a great job of orienting me. The screen is a good size - better than my phone. I find the voice recognition feature does not work as well as I would like so I largely ignore it. My only complaints is that it no longer comes with a traffic enabled cord so has to talk to my phone and that I have yet to figure out the color coding of the roads indicating the amount of traffic ahead. If it still even tells me this.

My old Garmin finally retrieved its last mile. But this Garmin DriveAssist is one heck of a replacement. The built-in camera and Bluetooth capability really enhance its capability. Great job Garmin...thanks Best Buy.

This unit is a good GPS unit, providing a lot of real time data while driving. I bought this unit because I wanted to tie this in with a Garmin backup camera, plus needed bluetooth for my LG phone. The back up camera worked as well as bluetooth - all the pther features were a bonus. Just one issue, and it's a big one for me - to get traffic alerts, you must either have a smartphone paired with it, or buy a separate $100 power cable that has a compatible integrated traffic receiver for this unit. The backup camera has another power cable that must be used with the GPS unit to receive the camera image, and it is not compatible for traffic either with this GPS (all statements here have been verified with Garmin tech support). This is advertised as a 'complete solution', a unit with free lifetime traffic and map updates. Not for my situation. I will use the unit for a bit and then make a decision on whether to return it or not.

This product was easy for my college student to set up and easy to use. This works way better than her iphone because it shows the road ahead and also doesn't cut out if she gets a phone call. I no longer worry she will be lost!

The initial unit I bought did not have the (working) bluetooth functionality that it was supposed to. After about of week of emails back and forth with Garmin support, trying everything they recommended and could think of, sending screen shots, and shaving a good eight to ten months off of my life expectancy, they recommended that I return to Best Buy and exchange it. Or, they would issue an RA and replace it directly. I was concerned about the exchange, because I was past the 15 day return/exchange window, but Best Buy exchanged the unit without any issues. Of course the box the NEW unit was in was damaged, so my angst grew, but it was the only one they had. Thank all that's good and Holy, the new unit worked as intended out of the box. While I appreciate the help from Garmin and Best Buy, the first unit I bought should not have passed initial QA before going out the door. I bought it for an eight day road trip, and it did not function correctly during that trip. Add another ten days post trip trying to resolve the issue(s), and ended up having to exchange. It was a disappointment and hassle. I spent well over 14 hours combined trying to resolve the issues (hard resets, complete software/map reloads, email correspondence, screen shots, photos, and phone calls) for which I will not be reimbursed. So, in that sense, it was totally NOT worth it. Would have returned unit if I could have, but Best Buy's return policies are the worst in the industry if you are not an Elite or better member. In summary, I like the working unit; but, will forever lament and pine over the time I spent messing with the first, defective one. Would I buy again, knowing what I know? Maybe not.

I love this GPS. If I ever need directions it's right there. It has a dash cam that automatically detects impact. I also installed the back up camera to go along with it. I can do the updates right in the car with my 4G Wifi setup.

This is a much larger screen than my older Garmin GPS units - about 7 inches across - which makes viewing it easier. Also due to its size, I find it more difficult to mount on the windshield and removal is also harder I also miss the built-in dash video camera that was part of my Garmin DriveAssist 51 model GPS. A GPS this large should have an integral dash camera. The real test will come when the Garmin 30 backup camera (sold separately) is installed on my car and integrated with this GPS.
