Consider this over an Apple Watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a truly outstanding watch plus activity tracker. It is easy to use with big, bold fonts, and the interaction with the watch menu system is very well thought through. It has the triple sensor, you can use it for all sorts of activities, it works well as a daily activity tracker, and it provides notifications from your phone including phone calls. The battery lasts for days, so unlike the Apple Watch, you can wear it into the night and it will track your sleep activity that you can view in the Garmin Connect app (unfortunately, the GC app doesn't report sleep to Apple Health). All in all, you get a lot of great functionality in this watch that does what you expect a watch to do and more. Yes, the Apple Watch is more like a small computer, but I don't expect a watch to do too much for me. This does everything that I want, and I don't have to charge it every night!

Fenix 3

Expensive but worth it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my watch for two weeks and love it. I bought Pebbles beforehand wanting to save money. but they froze on me and were just too simple. I wasn't sure if I was comfortable paying $500.00 for a smartwatch, but the fenix3 is worth it. I would really rate it a 4.5 stars, but since they do not have that, I'm rounding up to five.

Best Fitness watch on the market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant to purchase this watch b/c of the price but decided to do so after I was unimpressed with the Garmin Vivo Active HR. I read the reviews for the Fenix and decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did. 1st..the watch looks like a high end watch, not a fitness tracker. It's stylish and can be worn with athletic, casual or formal wear. 2nd..the display is far better than the vivo active or fitbit. 3rd...the durability is first class. I have worked in this watched, banged it on 2 x4's and it doesn't have one scratch. 4th...it's comfortable. I thought that it would feel bulky b/c of it's size and it doesn't. 5th..calorie tracking ability is a great feature to have. all in all...if you aren't worried about your budget, buy this watch and I'm sure you won't regret it.

Great Running watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Garmin Fenix 3 far passes the Fenix 2. There are so many features added to it that it makes it all better.

Highly Inaccurate GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch looks cool, no doubt. The trouble is, that the GPS is simply inaccurate. I have paced many half marathons and full marathons using my other Garmen watches, previously a 410, and then a 610. About 4 miles into the Asheville half marathon, I discovered that the GPS was off by over a half-mile. By the time it was all said and done, this watch said my half marathon was actually 15.1 miles long. Looking back over the data, the path wasn't that far off the actual course, it was just a malfunctioning watch. The folks at Garmin were dismissive, and told me to turn off smart recording, makes no sense, and has made little difference. The bottom line is that I do not trust this watch, and that is sad to report. I have seen a number of other reviews that said this, and I just wanted to warn people before they spend money on this product.

Love Everything About My Fenix But...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.But... I wanted the HR edition. If you don't want the availability of having your heart rate/resting heart rate available then the basic 3 is still awesome. Love the data analysis for biking and running, capturing vO2 max and knowing the balance of my body when I run. Plus the ability to snap hiking trails to the watch, be connected by Bluetooth or wifi and get all my notifications. Plus it's waterproof.

Dim Screen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to love this watch, but was surprised by the dimness of the watch face. All of the advertising literature and web images of the Fenix 3 show a watch face that is bright, clear, and easily readable. The reality is that the watch face is extremely difficult to read without turning on the back light. I love everything about this watch - it is extremely configurable. But the reality is that if I cannot read the watch face without turning on the back light, it is useless for me. I own a Garmin Edge 510 that I use for cycling. That computer face is EASILY readable in the daytime. I'm not sure why Garmin could not have used a similar screen for the Fenix. Sadly, I will be returning the Fenix 3.

Can't See it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to return it due to the face that it is so dim you really need it in direct sunlight or a desk lamp to see it. Even with the brightness at 100% and the backlight on. Its like looking at your phone with sunglasses on.

Posted .We are so sorry for the experience you had with your Garmin fēnix 3. We understand you have returned your device but we still wanted to address your concern regarding the screen on your device.
The device should allow you easily see in normal lighting and provide enough brightness from the backlight. The default brightness of your device screen (without the backlight) allows for long battery life (up to 6 weeks in watch mode), but depending on usage this can be shorter.
Your device also has different modes for the backlight. Please use the link below to the backlight settings for your device from the online owner's manual. It covers the Mode, Timeout, and Brightness options.
