This my first smart scale
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only ever use I a cheap weight watcher SX scale in the past. This was a huge upgrade. It was pretty easy to set up. I loved that it connects to my iPhone. Recently their servers have been down which is frustrating. I also have to mention that you have to be very careful when handling this unit. It has four small legs underneath and each one comes with comes with a little plastic “shoe”. One the shoes broke a little very easily and is barely hanging one. That combined with some of app features charging you made me have to lower my score for this unit.

Love hate
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Garmin scales and other products are notoriously difficult to pair with apps and wifi and Bluetooth. This scale shares all of those issues. Once you finally get everything paired and everything is up and running, it's pretty cool. It's nice that it sends your weight to your phone and watch and then charts patterns for you. Mine does keep getting messed up, though. My kid weighs 30 pounds and climbs on the scale like 45 times a day and weighs herself, and then weighs herself holding 5000 stuffed animals, etc etc. The scale always boots me out of my profile and let's the baby take it over. So my weight is all 140 139 143 37.5 33 41 . I honestly do t understand how and why it thinks I morphed into this little elf person. How can it not recognize that she's the different person? I have to go through the app and individually delete all of her weigh ins (and there are a lot) then put it back on track to document my weight under my profile. Two days later, it's right back to thinking I'm the elf child. It's annoying.

Scale on steroids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good accurate scale that offers more information from bone density to muscle mass and fat / bmi. I don't have a sense of where my stats fall and as an owner of the vivosmart i am hoping they will eventually sync even further and offer new insights like the jawbone does. There are occassional suggestions - more would be better. All that said, i would suggest buying it.

Clunky Setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was frustrating, as the (minimal) instructions provided were not adequate enough. I had to go to Garmin's website and search the web forums to figure out how to properly sync the scale. The overall process was clunky and took too long (even for someone who is technical).

Works, but has issues syncing with MyFitnessPal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had purchased this scale to get more complete information to use in conjunction with the MyFitnessPal calorie counter app. The product descriptions that I read, from both the vendor and multiple retailers, stated that the Garmin Connect app/website for this device synced with the MFP app/website. The scale works fine, and uploads to the GC site. However, even though my food/calorie intake syncs from MFP to GC, I have been unable to get the weight to sync back to MFP. I had been considering purchasing one of the Garmin activity trackers, as a companion to both the scale and MFP. Although, since MFP is my primary fitness aide, I think that will wait until they have the syncing issue figured out. For now, I will continue to use my Moto360 to track steps. It may be less accurate, but at least I already own it. If you are looking for a scale to track stats like BMI, body fat/water %, bone mass, and skeletal muscle mass, then this will deliver. And, if you are content using Garmin products exclusively, then you are probably fine. However, if you are looking to use it in conjunction with devices/software from other vendors, then you might run into issues, and should consider looking into other options.

Ok, just ok
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a year, I used the Fitbit Aria along with my Fitbit charge HR. Since my Fitbit Charge HR developed air bubbles, I switched to the Garmin Vivoactive HR. I LOVE IT. I purchased the Garmin Index to get the extra data to upload automatically to my connect app. The pros include that it automatically stores that data to the app. Areas of growth include that it only stores data once a day. I've found that the scale doesn't always turn on immediately when I step on it. Sometimes, I have to tap on the scale a few times before I stand it. I like the Garmin Vivoactive HR. The Index scale isn't my favorite scale.

Some bugs to work out.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works well howevever, if you use the MyFitnessPal App in conjunction with the Garmin Connect app it won’t perform properly. It will sync only your weight. The rest of the data isn’t synced. Which is the whole reason I got the item. What good is the device to track your data if it doesn’t record it. Will be returning the item. Once the problem is solved I’ll look back into it. PS only wants to sync over Wi-Fi and not Bluetooth either.

Posted .Hello Jma2369, Thanks for taking time to post a review of the Index Smart Scale. We are sorry that you experienced and issue where all the weight data did not display as expected. We pushed out a fix to Garmin Connect that corrects this issue. We expect that any future weight uploads will display the data as expected. The Garmin Connect team is actively working to restore all previous data so that all of the data displays as expected. If you are still experiencing issues with weight uploads, please send an email to social@garmin.com for direct assistance. Also, the Index Smart Scale only uploads data using Wifi. It communicated with a phone using Bluetooth for the initial set up but all data is transferred through Wifi. Thanks again for posting a review. -JFH

App doesn’t show all results
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The scale itself shows all the results and syncs it to the app, but the app doesn’t show all the results on the app or website it only shows the weight and BMI. I had to use another app and manually put the remaining results from the scale. Other than that it’s a decent scale.

Works most of the time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The scale is good overall and I wouldn't discourage any one from purchasing it. However, it doesn't always sync properly with my watch. I also wonder if the readings are accurate. What it says for my overall weight at this time is generous, to say the least.

Nice features with questionable software
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The scale is everything I thought it would be. Unfortunately pairing the scale to my Garmin account was troublesome and since has lost the link to my account. I still use it as a weight scale but am tired of reconfiguring it every time it resets.

Hard to set up for 2 people
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a very frustrating setup when I tried to add my wife to it. No clear instructions and have seen similar posts. Customer service helped me and it works fine now. Initial setup is a task

Connects easily to fitness tracker software
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well with Vivosmart tracker software. Awakening the scale isn't a "one-touch" procedure; tapping for 10-20 sec. in various locations required

Doesn’t sync over protected wifi
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a such a n expensive scale, you’d think it would sync over any WiFi network. Have never been able to to get the water content feature to sync

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does the job quite nice, and can be used for two users however, you can buy an underarmor barnd that is cheaper and does the same thing.
