    Easy & Afordable

I liked it well enough. It was my first GPS, I carried it on airplane, plugged it in at my destination airport to my rental car and it was easy to set up and get going. However, after using it for a day, I decided it was well worth a few extra dollars to upgrade to Nuvi 255W and I love it. I am a realtor and it is invaluable when I am showing homes. I live in a fairly rural area, tho, and it sometimes incorrect, but overall, I am most satisfied and would recommend the 255W

I purchased this item to replace the 200W that had been stolen from my vehicle. (Take it in the house when not using it.) This one works so much better..updated features including speed limit available at all times. It boots up incredibly fast and is ready to go. I have used it on long distance trips and it gets me right to the door. Not sure how I ever got along with out having one of these things before.

    a big problem

I like the operation of this gps WHEN it works. It does work properly as long as it is operating on its battery. But when I connect the car power adapter to it, it does NOT work as it should. It goes into Mass Storage Mode and then back to the route over and over. Of course if it is in Mass Storage Mode when you need to make a turn you won't know it because in that mode it is not giving any information. The web site support is not helpful. In the FAQ it says if this happens you need to make sure you are using a Garmin adapter which is the one that came in the box. Well I am using the one from the box. I will call support and ask what to do next. If I don't like their answer this unit goes back. One more note to shoppers, BestBuy has a 15% restocking fee if you return opened. If defective you only have 14 days.

This is a good value product. Not expensive for a GPS, but does what is needed--to get you where you want to be. You get what you pay for and this Garmin model is great a great value for personal use.

    Beware of Garmin

Bought a NUVI 205W GPS, not the best, not the cheapest. Got it home, come to find out you HAVE to have the OPTIONAL ($15) USB cable or as Garmin told me, one compatible, in order to REGISTER the product you just payed for with the manufacturer. I bet if the Big 3 had a gig like that they wouldn't be in trouble! So much for my support of Garmin products.

    Where's the programing instructions?

I assume that the Garmin nuvi 205w is a good portible GPS device based on posted reviews, however, I purchased this as a gift, and, no programing instructions were provided. The recipient is not electronic savy, and, the device is not particularly intuitive, so unfortunately, she left on a recent long road trip with map quest pages in hand and WITHOUT the use of a GPS. I will look on line for help or visit the nearest Best Buy. This was my first on-line purchase from Best Buy and not a positive one. I likely will think twice before I make a future on-line purchase from Best Buy.

I bought the Garmin nuvi 205, and used in San Francisco once, takes almose ten minutes still not get any signal untill we move our car to some where have no hight buildings, and it was also lost of satellite two times under the bay bridge, so I took it back exchanged another one, and I'm going to try out at San Francisco again next week. If the GPS dosen't work in citys why do we need it? if this time it still not work I'll return it!
