not sure about when it gives landmarks, sometimes they were hard to find. wish I could turn off that feature. not always the best route - but I guess that is true with most GPS systems. Like the way it updates current traffic and options for a faster route. Worked well in Canada. would like to pick a new voice. Overall would recommend this unit

Not only did I buy this GPS on sale at a great price but, I was so impressed with the design and features it offered! From the blue tooth functionality to the voice command capabilities. I would MOST DEFINITELY recommend this product to family/friend. I can't see myself traveling without it.

I like this Garmin even better than my first. New technology. Bigger screen that will split (dual screen) for close-up traffic. Fast to boot-up. Audio also easier to understand and louder to hear. Unit was on sale at Best Buy.

We own two other Garmin GPS' and they have all been dependable and easy to deal with. The only complaint I have is the piece that plugs into the 12v in the car sometimes becomes "unscrewed" at the tip from insertion and twisting to adjust and then it gets unfastened. But we are careful so its not such a problem anymore.

The voice interaction has problems. It evidently translates words into texts, then recognizes the command based on phonetic rules that don't always apply. For example, to get it's attention, I spoke the phrase "wakey-wakey". But it doesn't recognize the phrase the way I SAID it, instead it only responds to "wacky-wacky". It's ability to find places by verbal command is also deficient. Sometimes it works, sometimes it completely misunderstands what was said. But those are its biggest faults. I like the ability to see the route in quasi-3-D. The Garmin has the US AND Canada in fairly good detail. Like my previous Garmin, it has trouble giving you a good alternate route, but at least it doesn't seem to redirect you to the original route when you want to detour, as did my older Garmin. Memory expansion still costs extra, but lifetime updates don't. Overall I was satisfied with the purchase.

I have been using GARMIN 2555LMT and decided to switch to 2597LMT for its voice command. It has been excellent and the voice command works like a charm. Highly recommend this model.

This Garmin unit provides everything you need in a GPS at a great price. After reviewing units and looking at rankings for devices under $200, it was obvious that this was a favorite among testers as it typically ranked in the top 2 or 3 at most online sites. If you're in need of a new GPS, you can't go wrong with this one!!

The screen is big enough to easily view. Voice system clearly gives directions ahead of time to turn. Satellite provides accurate traffic flow reading. Don't forget to purchase the dash board mounting system (sold separately).

This item was purchased to replace my first garmin which was stolen. Replacing it with anything other than a Garmin was not an option. Of course, we want a longer battery life for all of our electronics, however the reality is that batteries go low.....just plug it back in and charge!

My daughter has been using my older Garmin since she moved out to San Francisco. I gave her this one for Christmas so I could get mine back. She loves it. It boots up much faster than mine and is faster overall. She appreciates the traffic feature, too. Wish I'd gotten a chance to try it!

Directions to install the software from the computer to the device was terrible. The end of the instructions it tells you to disconnect the GPS from the computer & wait for the opening screen. I did that and the GPS would not boot up. I returned it to the store assuming it was defective. I was given another without question. The same thing happened with the second one. I returned to the store again. This time a member of the Geek Squad checked it and got it to boot up instantly. The problem was that the battery had to be charged before it could be disconnected from the computer. That crucial bit of instruction is missing. Other than this bit of annoyance. The GPS works perfectly. Voice recognition is a great feature.

I'm a 22-year old woman who just got my driver's license and has a terrible sense of direction. This GPS was perfect for me and a good price as well. It's easy to set up and use (plus the voice command and bluetooth is very nice). Only thing I would complain about is that sometimes it takes a little while to upload the maps from the satellite when you first turn it on - this has only happened a few times though. Overall, great product.

I own a smart phone, but I like using a GPS. I use a GPS all the time, not for just getting directions. I'm in large cities a lot and being able to see what's close by is awesome.

I previously brought this GPS and it works so well and I love the features that I purchased a second one for those times when I'm not in my own vehicle. Actually convinced several family and friends to purchase one and they love it also. Can't beat the price for the features.

I have used my Garmin several times now and have even taken it with me on trips to use in my rental car. The only issue I have had is when I was traveling in Utah and their addresses are N/S E/W. The navigator needs a street name and address. Other than that, I have zero problems.

I received this Garmin GPS as a Christmas gift. I wasn't sure if I would like it from passed experience. But this thing is Great! It is easy to use, connects to my cell phone via Bluetooth for hands free phone calls. I haven't tried the voice commands yet, but I'm sure they work well.

I am a real estate agent and depend on an up to date map and ease of use in my car in front of clients. This is the best GPS that I have owned. I have many clients that ask me for the model number so they can buy one.

I bought this 'upgrade' for my dying nuvi that I have had for about 5 years now. The screen is larger and brighter, but gone are a lot of the bundled pieces of software that Garmin previously supplied with their hardware. Gone are the mileage to fuel ratio, and mileage per tank options; now you have to buy them as separate pieces of software, thereby increasing the cost of a GPS. I also have an issue with the length of time it takes to find GPS Satellites; my 5 year old nuvi could find a satellite in 5 seconds, where sometimes it takes up to a minute. The only redeeming feature for me would be how fast it starts. Since it has an SSD inside it, its up in about 10 seconds, and that helps a bit.

While on a trip recently, my 4 year-old nuvi "died". Then we realized how much we had come to depend on it!. We were able to go to a conveniently near Best Buy and had consulted Consumer Reports beforehand (online, of course). The nuvi we wanted was in stock and was easily installed on the same mount our old one had used. We are amazed at how much improved the touch screen function is--no misses or difficult to register items. It is much faster booting up and we like the way the things you use most often are arranged. the sequence of input is much more intuitive. All in all, very pleased. Now if it just last a bit longer....

This was very easy to set up. Once set up it was intuitive for everything we needed. The fact that it includes lifetime maps is a big plus. POI and other things included also work perfectly. The screen is large and easy to read. I have not found anything to reduce this review.
