I've had this GPS for a month now and it's by far the best one I've ever used. I travel for work everyday and depend on my gps to be accurate and easy to use. I love all the features especially the voice command. The screen size is perfect but wish it was glass.

I bought this because I already had a Garmin, which has lasted me since 2008. Hope this one lasts as long too. This one has a slightly bigger screen, which takes some getting used to, as it blocks my view if I put it where the older one went. This one has better features and is easier to use/program. It does NOT say "recalculating" when I go a different route than it says. This is great, as that was very annoying!

Made for a Convertible

About 8 or more years ago I purchased a Garmin Nuvi 65. I still have it and it still works. So in the last year I have been trying to replace it with a newer and faster one. Also a bigger screen would have been nice. The first Garmin I replaced it with was beautiful. The glass screen made the color and detail just jump out at you, until the sun hit it. This was to be used exclusively in a convertible . . . in Texas. So that was all the time. I took it back before the day was over. About a month later I decided to try another one. Again the same problem. It too went back. I had just about given up and decided that my old Garmin would have to do. Then I was reading a review about the 2597 and one of the cons was that it was not as bright and clear because it DID NOT have a glass screen. I decided to give it a try. I write this about 2 months after purchasing it and still have it and plan on keeping it. It does not wash out in the convertible with the top down. It loads quickly. The voice recognition is not perfect, but typing on the screen is so much easier than my old Garmin. I would say that it works about 50/50. It does seem to be getting better. Maybe I am learning to speaker more clearly. It is filled with all of the latest info. Here are a few that I like: posted speed limit and my speed are displayed on the big 5 inch screen, school zone alert, displays coming streets, easier to take out of the cradle. There are no negative comments. The things I do not like, I turn off. I am happy to have a new state of the art navigation system that I can see in my convertible with top down. The icing on the cake is that I extracted the British Kate voice from my old Garmin and installed it on this one.

I liked it --not loved it. I like it because easy to set up and easy to input direction. Also the lifetime traffic option is really helpful when you are expecting rush hours. It helps you to avoid the traffic.
Garmin can do better when it comes to question of touch screen. Also the processing speed is slow. it takes time to calculate the route plan. I had couple more garmin and I always buy garmin, I never had any problem with Garmin product. I think they make better product than their competitors.

I love this little devise! Even though 'Ive had 80 years on this planet, and am a little technology challenged, I had this up and operating very quickly. The nav system on my MBZ is a toggle system thing , which I have not liked from day one, so the touch screen on this Garmin is terrific for me! I didn't want to mount it on my windshield or dash, so got the weighted mount which I can sit on the dash and move it to the seat after arriving wherever!

Garmin 2597 is a perfect GPS. Can connect to both android and iphone. Lifetime maps. Built in antenna for real time traffic if available in your driving area, so no need to spend more money. Great turn by turn with lane assist. Highly recommend this GPS.

When it works its great
Pros:
-Traffic works great ( When it works) most of the time.
-Voice command is a great feature, sometimes
- The traffic lane assistant is a great feature. Lets you know what lane you need to be in about a mile before your exit or changing freeways
Cons
-Traffic tends to lag a little
-Voice command worked great at first, now it has a hard time understanding the address and the software tends to be buggy
Every now and then.
- Every now and then a screen pops up saying that the traffic/power cord is not compatible with my device.
- Will sometimes freeze up on you.
Other Thoughts
The old C series by Garmin where much more dependable then the newer Nuvi series. But the Nuvi's, when they work are great. I travel all over and depend heavy on these. I Tried the Tom Tom's didn't like it. The interface on the Garmin's are much easier to use. If you pick one of these up, make sure to get the extended warranty. Returning a warn out one has never been a problem with BB

I am pleased with my Garmin 2597LTM. Bought it mainly for the lifetime maps and traffic. Traffic especially, since I don't always get to hear radio traffic reports. Easy to set up. I have slow internet so the first download took a lot of time, but pleased with the ease to use. Looking forward to a future model that does not have to have an FM receiver plugged in to 12V for power as you are using the Garmin. Enjoy all the other aspects.

We have always used a Garmin. We recently replace our old one that stopped working properly with this model. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on a GPS, but wanted the larger screen. This model has so many features that we would have liked to have had on our older model. It's easy to use and once you put in your desired location and hit go you can put it down and just listen to it. The voice directions are clear and accurate. The voice itself is much easier to understand that our older model. You don't really need to look at it. I love all of the features. When you are looking for a particular place to eat it tells you if it's ahead on your route or behind on your route so you know if it's an option or not. The prompts are wonderful in every aspect of it from putting in the address to looking for destinations. Another great feature is that when you look to see upcoming street turns, etc. it highlights where you currently are in your route and keeps listed where you have been. It beeps to notify you that you are in a school zone. I haven't used the blue tooth feature yet so I can't comment on it. There are also other features that I haven't explored yet. Every time I use it I find something new that it can do. Overall, we are very pleased.

This Garmin performs even better with even more features than my older Nuvi 1450 which worked without issues for years. The large screen and clear graphics are easy to read. The Garmin Express tools and lifetime traffic & maps all a plus. Monies were well spent on both Garmin products! Al

So far so good. Easy to use and easy to see the screen. Tells you exactly which lane to be in which is helpful when traveling on unfamiliar highways. Didn't need the Bluetooth feature but got a good deal so why not.

Lifetime apps is a great feature. I like the split screen that appears before an exit, the voice tells you which lane you need to be in to make the proper turns, the screen is a great size, and it connects with the satellite much quicker than my first Garmin. Great device.

I was looking for a new GPS and after doing a little research myself I came across this one. I've been using it for a few weeks and I have to say I love it! Especially the voice command! Very easy to use, and you don't have to give the full address and it's already bringing up possible addresses! I would definitely recommend!

I wanted a fairly basic GPS that I could use instead of relying on a phone data plan. I absolutely love my nuvi. The interface is easy to use and the voice command feature is definitely something that makes this model stand out (this is the "lowest"/cheapest model that has it). While the voice recognition isn't quite as forgiving as I had hoped (e.g., you have to enunciate very clearly and speak loudly), it still gets the job done without taking your hands off the wheel. The Active Lane Guidance and photoReal junction view features are great upgrades from previous models; I have found they really help clear up directions when you need them the most. Also, the lifetime maps and traffic leaves me assured that this is a good investment for many years to come, and the updates are easy to install. There have been just a couple times when I have missed a turn due to confusion; however, I think that is to be expected with any navigation system and the nuvi's software quickly recalculates and helps you back on track. Overall, I highly recommended this nuvi for anyone needing a GPS - the extra features (specifically the voice command) are worth the little extra money, and Best Buy had a great price.

This GPS works as a perfect Navigator. I start using the GPS right from the first day that I purchased this. I deliberately changed routes to known destinations and I noticed the GPS was quickly able to give me new routes to my destination. The traffic update and lane assist features works great. I have not explore the Bluetooth functionality. Will probably add details around this later.

The Garmin Nuvi2597LMT has everything we could ever want in a GPS: Garmin's fantastic intuitive user interface, clear voice guidance, and even recognizes spoken commands. The lifetime maps and traffic updates is relatively new (I previously paid Garmin about half the price of a GPS to download an update, and it didn't fit on my older GPS!). I was blown away when driving on our local state road and the GPS not only told me about the upcoming exit, but clearly showed the exit as well as the correct highway signage labeling the exit - Those big green signs that sometimes name obscure roads or compass directions - there was a near photographic image of the very sign on the right half of the GPS screen. That takes all the uncertainty out of navigation!
