Purchased for my daughter. Wish I had done it before she got the ticket for 80 in a 55 in North Carolina. Now she pretty religiously follows the speeding indicator on the GPS speedometer. Cell phone sized with much larger screen. Good and fast graphics. Traffic and updates for life is a great value. BestGuy gladly provided Amazon price match in the store, providing value and convenience.

Bought This GPS to replace another Garmin That I had. In the four years that I had the other GPS the changes and Updates have been Incredible. This New Garmin 2597 is wonderful to work and easy to use. Only Complaint I have is I'm still trying to figure out how to use/ setup traffic data. Hopefully I'll figure it out soon

This is my second Garmin. My first one was outdated by 10 years. This nuvi 2597 is easy to use and has alot of neat features that I like. It lets you know when you are approaching a school zone. It can tell exactly which lane you need to be in and gives you a split screen for that. I love how it shows gas and food on your route automatically. Lifetime maps is a plus.

Using first time was easy, simple and quick. It gave me accurate traffic and construction results. I had used other makes and models, but this is the best . It even tells you the close gas pumps, restaurants and alternate routes. It is very effective and worth the money. I will never leave my home without this Unit. It has helped on trails and back roads.

My husband and I purchased a new car without a navigation system to save $2,000 on the purchase price. This was a first. And my husband purchased this Garmin from Best Buy, and it met and exceeded our expectations--definitely worth the money we saved on the car. Actually, this Garmin is better than the navigation systems found in the high-end autos.

We've had 2 Garmins & bought this for our daughter

Our Garmins have always given us superb service! We used the first one immediately when we moved to Wisconsin from Washington state, almost 5 years ago, & for some time after that. This new area was so confusing to us for several months -- all cornfields look alike! -- & -- unlike the Seattle area -- the streets are not laid out in a numbered grid, which makes it very easy to find any address. Heck, the streets here aren't in alphabetical or numerical order, either! The second Garmin has gone with us on our semi-annual trips to visit family in Washington, California & Ohio -- we'd probably be wandering in some wilderness if we hadn't had those Garmins. We've also been grateful for the Garmin when we've had to make trips into the "big city" of Madison for medical appointments at different locations. If not for the Garmin, our BP would definitely be sky-high when we finally got to our destination. SO -- our daughter, who lives in the "big city" has already used hers a lot while looking for apartments & employment sites. (She inherited my directional-deficit disability.) We've recommended Garmin to many friends & relatives -- as well as recommending Best Buy & the Geek Squad!

Overall, I am happy with my Garmin. This is the fourth one I have owned. This one is leaps ahead of my old Nuvi260. It's standby mode allows very quick turn on and satellite location. The search routines are pretty fast. I have been using it for about two months now. The software for routing is much improved and finds a new route when you drive past a turn without forcing you back onto the old route (unless it really is a better choice). This allows you to decide a preferred route easier.
The voice recognition is fair but subject to noise issues in the car while speaking. You also must pick the correct search category when you use the voice recognition.
The Bluetooth phone interface works great and also allows voice searching.
The traffic feature is also great and I wouldn't buy one without it now that I have tried it.
Since this is a 2013 model, the price to features value is excellent.
I will mention that when first setting up a trip with specified waypoints, the unit did an unexpected cold reset where I lost all the points I had input. This only happened once and it could have been my fault as I was in a rhythm entering coordinates and may of hit the wrong buttons.
Overall, no regrets...

I like this because it is not overly big. The lifetime maps and traffic updates are easy to install. It comes with everything you need right in the box. I did have to exchange it once because I believe the traffic portion was not working properly. The bluetooth connects easily with the i-phone if this is a feature that you want.

I have used Garmin in the past. It was time to get a new one. This one is much better than my previous Garmin. Bigger screen. It goes to a split screen when you are coming up on an exit showing what the exit looks like. It lets you know if you are coming up on a school zone. It lets you know about delays.

I purchased the Garmin as a gift for my mother-in-law. She wanted a larger screen and lifetime updates. Garmin has great, clean, understandable navigation which my mother-in-law was comfortable with because she's owned Garmin products before. The only minor criticism was the power cord was a bit short and she needed to use a longer standard USB cable to mount it.

We wanted to buy a new Garmin that we could use in Hawaii & Canada (and potentially other countries). This one was rated pretty highly and was reasonably priced. We bought it and then went online to make sure it had the latest updates. It ended up taking hours to do all the updates and once the updates were applied, it kept saying more updates were available so we would do those and then it would say there were more. I think we ended up having to update it 8 or 9 times in a row. That seemed pretty weird as we have an older Garmin and never had those issues. We finally got all the updates and took it with us to Hawaii. It worked very well except for trying to find 2 different Walgreens stores. On 2 different islands, when we entered "Walgreens", it took us to somewhere where there clearly was no store. Other than that, it worked very well. I like that you can just enter in a name of a place (like a National Park or a store name) you want to go to or a specific address or a type of place (like Grocery Store) and it usually finds what you're looking for. If it hadn't had those 2 Walgreens issues and the issues getting it up-to-date at the beginning, I would have given it 5 stars. We're about to take it on a trek to Canada so hopefully it works as well.

The only reason I gave it 4 instead of a 5 is the voice recognition has a little trouble with my deep voice. It is easy to use and reliable. The same GPS is now used on the six inch dash cam model. If you only need a GPS this is the one to buy. If you want a dash cam and can afford it the up grade to the dash cam version. Garmin out did themselves on it.

My previous Garmin locked up and couldn't be turned off or moved off the "GARMIN" start page. Read the reviews for the 2597 and was ready for the better graphics, larger screen and longer battery life. The sale price was a bonus...has proven to be an outstanding buy and very good on directions and ease of use.

So nice not to have to use my hands to manipulate a GPS. This is an amazing product. Voice command is so easy to use and it will work with your Bluetooth phone as well if you do not have it in your vehicle.

This Garmin is easy to use and since I had backed up my former Garmin transferring information was a breeze. The GPS is great for everyday commuting. In addition while traveling this model gives valuable information such as hotels, eating establishments, etc. I haven't had any mishaps on directions as of yet.

Worked great. Good size so you can view all information with no issue. Did not take long to recalculate when going in a different direction. Traffic works by itself. Does NOT need to be hooked up to a phone. Traffic information was accurate and really helpful. We bought it for this reason and were glad we did,

I was gifted with this Garmin before taking a really long trip, and it was awesome to have. My college son has an older version, and this is easier to use, specifically the typing. I also like the mounting system, which is very secure. I traveled through four states and back without worrying about getting lost, and was notified of upcoming traffic delays due to construction. I really don't think I will ever go back to being without a Garmin Nuvi. My only issue was that I needed to drop a friend off at a MAJOR international airport in a county other than where we were staying, but it was not listed under the "Transportation" drop-down choices until I was actually in the county where it's located. Obviously I knew the general direction of where I needed to go and there were road signs, but there was also another local non-international airport with the same city name located nearby. Just a minor confusion and requirement of common sense (never a reliable thing with me!) which could also have been completely my fault for never reading the instructions.
