This unit is a great functioning unit. I purchased it as a replacement for my Garmin nuvi 30 because of the larger screen and advanced technology, but I found it to have a major fault. The new unit does not accept Safety Camera (Speed and Red Light Cameras) updates, nor are these cameras a part of the original programming. The maps are very good, but it would be much more useful to have the Safety Camera features.

Love the free map and tools updates, you get four updates a year. screen is perfect size and the POI works extremely well, POI preloaded with many places of interest. Cons - to use the Ecosystem it states on the GPS What link to go to purchase from Garmin, when you go there you get a message that the link does not exist.

This GPS was a gift for my son and his wife. Their GPS was old and not functioning properly. This one has lifetime maps, lifetime traffic updates, and it speaks the street names. In addition, it is a reasonably priced option!

I bought it as replacement for old unit that was lost. No major improvements - the same price range. Screen is bigger and it looks like it is more touch sensitive, you don't have to press on screen really hard anymore. Can't say how good is lane assist - didn't drive on unknown highways yet.

Bought it for road trip on West coast and worked out very well. Roads were well up to date and when there was traffic it was fairly accurate too. Easy to read and very clear vocal directions .

Better than my 2 previous garmins and the Magellan isn't even comparable. Faster and more audible information.

Bought it for my wife, based on the my owning the 2699LMTHD. She said she likes it, and she's not very tech-savvy or friendly, so if she's happy, I'm happy.

Big and Good

We have had two NUVI 350’s for the past 10 years and being in real estate we used them daily. Don’t know what we would have done without them. I still use mine, but I purchased the 56LMT for my wife due to outdated maps and intermittent operation. I miss ‘recalculating’ even though it was a pain to sometimes hear it over and over. It did let you know when you made a wrong turn, where the 56 highlights the new route which may or may not involve a different overall time to your destination. Let me start of by saying the 56 is several steps up from the older NUVI’S which were good to begin with. larger size and layout are big plusses. The info in the split screen is very helpful along with the speed info and traffic alerts.
Knowing how to operate an old Garmin Nuvi is a big advantage over a newbies who must use trial and error and hit and miss for the break in period (best to download the manual which I’m sorry to say is not user friendly or complete.) Knowing how to get around the town I live in, I find the GPS sometimes taking me a roundabout way to get there regardless of my settings (as much as a mile added to the route.) Gladly though it does get you there. If you are a past Garmin owner ask for the discount…it’s worth it.
