Customers are impressed with the vívofit Fitness Band + Heart Rate's accurate heart rate monitor, ease of use, and long battery life. Many appreciate the step and sleep tracking capabilities, along with its water resistance. However, some users wish it had a backlight and find the app less intuitive than others. I have owned activity trackers and this one is pretty decent. It’s very sturdy, doesn't look corny (cheap), syncs quite fine with my android phone, and does just about what the $149+ fitbit and other trackers do already, waterproof, trackes sleep, etc..etc... I love that when you set it up it asks what time do you usually go to bed, and for how long. So if you forget to set it to the sleep mode before you go to bed, it will know that you were sleeping due to the inactivity and the set parameters that, that is your usual bedtime and track it. I have never owned a heart rate monitor band so this was new and took some homework. Very easy to use, and wow, definitely wished I would have used one a long time ago to get a better reading of my calories burned for my workouts. So this bad boy automatically syncs your workout to your MyfitnessPal from the activity data off the heart band monitor for an pretty accurate calorie burn. I seriously wish that I would have bought the 2nd generation bundle and spent the extra I don’t know? 20 bucks? Why? No backlight…yeah I learned to work my way around it, but it can be annoying when going to bed, checking the time, syncing, and well just wanting to look at your progress in the dark…yeah not cool. For this reason the battery life on this bad boy is amazing. This is not the end of the world, but for 20 bucks, I’d say get the one with the backlight and take advantage of a great tracker, especially for the one with the bundle. Feel free to ask questions that I maybe didn’t cover in my review. Also, the app takes some time to configure. Kind of funky, maybe the iphone one is better who knows. All these company put more resources into making the apps for trackers more user friendly. God knows why. One major thing that I had to figure out. The tracker WILL NOT track an activity with the heart rate monitor unless it was for at least 15 minutes. If you’re going to lift weights do not wear it on your wrist. Clip to your shoes, or just put it in your pocket. It will record steps if you’re doing curls, shoulder presses….weird.. I wore two different smart watches on two different occasions with the tracker and the steps were only off by 15 steps at the end of the night… I can live with that..Pretty accurate. ALso if your butt hasnt moved it will display bars of red until it fills up...basically get up and move...(wont do this during night mode of course)..great motivator to get up

I purchased the Vivofit with the heart rate monitor which is nice to use when at the gym or mountain bike riding. The band is very comfortable and lite weight , never feels heavy on the wrist. One of the coolest things about the Vivofit band it that you do not need to charge it, it works on a one year battery. Know my wife has one along with my dad.

Overall, this fitness band is a solid performer. It’s easy to use, the clasp fits will and stays snug. The heart rate monitor (HRM) strap is probably the most comfortable strap I've worn, though I don't like straps in general. I've been looking for a wrist HRM fitness band and have tried the FitBit Charge HR, the Samsung Gear Fit and the Microsoft Healthband and all of them give poor and inconsistent HRM feedback – have sent them all back. The one negative (and it's a big one) is the fact that this device is not backlit. So in the dark and sometimes outside, it's impossible to see. VivoFit should have included an optional backlit option like you see on many watches. They did this to preserve the battery life. The online Web portal that documents your workouts is also substandard compared to the Polar Loop. Polar has a well thought out interface that is pretty useful whereas the Vivo interface seems labored. Overall, a good product but there are some soft spots in their offering. The field is still wide open in the wearable market.

got this for my son. he likes it. easy to use. like that it shows the time, without pushing a button (so it can replace a watch). other advantages over the fitbit: 1. it is water resistant to 20m. fitbit is not 2. it comes with heart rate monitor and can put in a mode to show your heart rate. fitbit cannot do this 3. No charging necessary! no keeping track of charging cables! it has a watch battery that should last >1yr. a little bulkier than the base fitbit but overall, so far so good.

I like that this has a heart rate monitor, the chest strap is similar to others I have used. So, equally uncomfortable but you get used to it. The Garmin app really sucks though, especially on an ipad. The heartrate information is basically useless because you can't look back at what time it was really collected. also, it is hard to add in activities - haven't been able to figure that out yet. I like that it gives you a goal based on your personal activity and not a "generic goal" for everyone. overall I like this product, but it could be improved, especially the website/app.

Good activity band. Monitors sleep, counts steps, and gives heart rate. I chose this over a fitbit because it's water proof, not just water resistant.

Great tool as a reminder to get up and start moving when I am at work. Sleep graph is pretty cool, not sure about usefulness, except I saw a pattern of optimal hours to sleep! tracking steps is easy and its it automatically increases your daily based upon activity. Easy to sync and work with fitness pal. good value for the price. Synced fine with Iphone as well as laptop.

I've been using an activity monitor for a couple of years now, and have owned the following in addition to the Vivofit: Fitbit One, Fitbit Flex, Fitbit Force, and Polar Loop. Since the Fitbit devices are very popular and widely used, I'll orient this review around a comparison to those (and the Polar Loop for good measure). First, my main activity is road biking: I average about 2,000 miles a year, mostly from March to November. In winter I try to regularly ride a trainer or a recumbent gym bike. I wear a heart monitor when riding or training because I like to see how I'm doing as a late middle-aged male. As you'll see, one of the advantages of the Vivofit is its ability to pair with a HR strap, something the Fitbit products lack.

A great device that keeps track of the date, time, your steps, steps until you've reached your goal, distance in miles, and calories burned- all of whih you can see on the wrist band itself which is one of my favorite features. I also like that the vivofit uses a watch battery so you do not have to worry about charging it on a daily or weekly basis. Unfortunately, the device does not have a backlight so when it is dark outside, it's impossible to read so if you enjoy exercising when its dark this deviceis not for you. The device was not compatible with my samsung galaxy tab 3 tablet, so I initially had to use the usb stick to sync the data onto my laptop. I could then look at the data using my laptop or using the garmin connect app on my tablet. It is compatible with my new phone, google nexus 6p, but I now have a hard time getting the vivofit to sync the datayo my phone , so I can only view my steps and distance on the vivofit. This means the app has become pointless and I can't track my sleep or view any progress made. :/

Coming from a Fit Bit Force recall, I was honestly just waiting for Fit Bit to make a new band and was going to get whatever that will be since none of the others really fit what I was looking for, till I found the Garmin. A year for battery life, amazing. Easy to read and great looking. Extremely comfortable on the wrist and extremely accurate. Ability to wear it while I shower of swim, great. None of the other fitness bands come close to this and I no longer regret sending the Force back for this at the same price.

Happy with the watch / activity / sleep tracker. It helps each of my family members to realize when they are inactive, and how our sleep patterns are. Interesting! Stay with the black or grey bands - the lighter colors show wear much faster. Disappointed that the watch does not have seconds. Disappointed that the Garmin GPS does not track / map your activity. Still have to use programs like Map My Fitness to see my route and breakdown of each section. Nor does it have elevation. Heart monitor works well with the watch. Have not been able to connect it with the app. Garmin is working on this problem.

This tracts everyday activities - steps, calories, sleep patterns etc. very easy to use. Heart monitor band is s waste of money though, I thought it was a sensor incorporated into the band however it is a separate thing to wear.

We bought this as a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law who is 74 years old, so we wanted something that would be easy to operate and as she does not use the heart rate monitor but she doesn't have to worry about charging this or if it accidentally gets wet she will not ruin it as it is also water resistant, so all in all this works perfect for her, i've even recommended it to my mother over the fit bit

I switched to the VivoFit after having a FitBit for about a year. I like the display and heart rate monitor that this one provides for around the same cost as the FitBit flex. The app isn't as advanced as the FitBit, but that doesn't really matter since I can easily see numerical readouts of my daily stats on the VivoFit. Also, the battery life is much better since I don't have to charge it every few days.

The heart rate monitor function is really nice. Certainly more accurate than what Fitbit has to offer. The unit is also waterproof. However, there are a few annoying drawbacks about this model: 1) The display is not backlit, which makes it nearly impossible to read in the dark; 2) The associated smartphone app is a little clunky and is not available for Windows phone users. As a whole, however, I'm fairly satisfied with the product.

The Garmin is smart looking and is very easy to use, and seems to do what it is supposed to do; however it is a little daunting as far as set up is concerned. A lot of set-up concerns will go away if you use a computer and do not try other methods.

I have a vivosmart myself however, I bought the vivofit bundle for my dad for Father's Day and he is in love with it. The garmin app he uses on the computer is pretty detailed. He likes to input his food so he can see how many calories he has left for the day. When he uses the chest strap heart rate monitor, it's very accurate. It is almost exactly the same as the tredmill. He loves it!
