I like everything this tracker does especially that I can read texts, emails& know when I'm reviewing a call when I'm not using my phone ringer. A lot for the value- like better than the Fitbit. It's even waterproof so I can keep it on day - night. Only needs to Chg and hour or two once a week. The only thing it's missing is a heart rate monitor which would help when I go to the gym.

I love the Garmin Vivosmart - It was very simple to set up and connect to my phone. I can review my progress quickly and easily through the "Connect" app (which is free to download). The band didn't need to be trimmed or batteries installed like the FitBit brand. Best of all it quietly VIBRATES (without sound!) when I get a text or call and to tell me to get up when I sit too long. Then it lets me know when I've met the "minimum suggested movement" amount so I can go back to my desk and continue working. I only have to charge it every 4 days or so and it charges quickly. I have small wrists, so I love how it is sleek in design (not bulky like some others), plus it is very comfortable to wear. The Vivosmart is worth every penny!

I have very small wrists so I got the small and it fits perfect! I keep it a little loose and I am right in the middle of all the dots. I chose the Garmin Vivosmart over the other activity trackers for a number of reasons and so far I am not disappointed. I didn't like how bulky the other activity trackers were on me and they all seemed to be too wide on my wrist so I was never able to get it tight enough (there was always gaps). Tracking sleep and activities is fast and easy as well as accurate. I am 5'5" and had my Vivosmart track my run. It tracked me at 2.9 miles but the run was actually 3.1 miles. Since I have longer legs compared to a normal 5'5" person I adjusted my height to be 5'6" and it ended up being pretty much spot on! I haven't had to use the phone tracker feature yet but it's only a matter of time since I loose my phone all of time. I also love the smart watch features on it which was another big selling point for me. Charging the unit is simple and fast (2 hr charge time). I wasn't sure if I was going to like that but I just make sure to charge it when I know I won't be moving around for a while (it is also the only time I ever take it off). I also like that it will tell you to move and if you don't it keeps a running time of how long you have been sitting which definitely motivates me to do something.
Overall I am very pleased with this!

I like that it has an auto mode that will give you a goal and if you go over it it will give you a little higher goal the next day or lower if you do no meet your goal .The battery last a long time considering all that it does. I really am happy with it.

I got this on the recommendation from a friend. It's lightweight, waterproof, and appears like a plain black (if that's the color you choose) bracelet. But it's so much more. I didn't really get it for the fitness (but I should), however I do enjoy seeing how many steps I've taken and trying to reach my goal every day. I love that it tracks my sleep and that I get text and phone call notifications on it. I can be in a work meeting and have my phone on silent but will still get a vibration on my wrist to let me know I have a message or a call. I can then look at my wrist and decide if i want to handle it now or later. I also love the waking alarm feature, I find it so much more gentle to wake up to a slight wrist vibration than loud music. I tend to sleep heavy when I sleep and I doubted that the vibration would wake me up. It did. The only glitches I've experienced so far were during the time change, the time was strangely off for a couple of days but a software update quickly fixed that. The only other one was randomly twice my phone and Vivosmart haven't paired for a while and nothing I can do resets it. I just have to wait a bit and they seem to find each other eventually.

This should be a positive review. Speaking about how comfortable it is to wear, even while sleeping. About how the accuracy of footsteps is fairly accurate. That the accompanying Garmin Connect app seems to be fairly thorough. I would also include that the battery life is reasonable, considering it is active with keeping you moving as well as notifying you of events on your phone (which is customizable.... I even have it notifying me of BBM messages on my Android phone). That the display is very sleek and suits the purpose well. That this is great middle ground hybrid between basic fitness tracker and smartwatch. Did I mention it is also reasonably waterproof. Yes. All those things are true. BUT. I am about to exchange for my fourth unit. You read that right. Apparently there is a quality problem with a large number of them where part of the screen is faded or missing. My wife also has one, hers has been absolutely fine. But I've had 3 in a row now that have this problem. And this current one is also having a problem staying connected on Bluetooth consistently (this is the first unit I've had this problem with). Here's hoping 4 is a charm.... BTW... BestBuy has been supportive and exchanged units without asking questions (other than what the problem is, of course).

I've been wearing this Garmin Vivosmart for about a month and a half now. I'm pretty impressed. First of all, the main reason I chose this one was that it's a slim form factor and very comfortable. I like that it's a hidden screen with adjustable brightness so it just looks like a bracelet. No chance of breaking the screen. Waterproof, I can wear it in the shower and not worry about taking it on and off. Battery life has been very good, at least a week...sometimes longer. Bluetooth range is good but I do wish it was just a little bit better. It can reach throughout most of my house but not all. However, when I do come back into range it does reconnect right away. That might be annoying to some people, as it vibrates and flashes "bluetooth connection lost" when out of range, and then again vibrates and flashes "bluetooth connected" when back in range. I like the gentle vibration for waking up in the morning and the snooze option. It is easy to use and I seem to wake up not as groggy as a loud alarm. I needed to call customer service once when I had to reboot my cell phone and couldn't get it to connect again. It wasn't a problem with the device, I just wasn't hitting the menu settings correctly. Customer service was very knowledgeable and helpful and answered quickly. Very happy with this choice of fitness trackers.

I've owned smart watches to fitbits. This wins hands down.
Pros:
-Great software and compatibility with MyFitnessPal
-Accurate step count
-It know when you sleep and reports your sleep levels
-Text/Phone notification
-Slick matte anti glare screen
-I can turn my music up and down or skip a song from Pandora!
-Perfect size. Small will fit most.
Cons:
-No HR monitor

Good activity tracker

I bought this activity tracker after reading reviews for the Vivosmart and other brands of activity tracker.
The good:
The reason I got this one was because of the phone notifications. When I am at work and my phone is on silent and in my pocket, I cannot tell when I receive a text or phone call. The notification ability of this activity tracker is very helpful. Garmin has updated their app so that you can customize the setting on the vivosmart. Step tracking is fairly accurate, although I haven't calibrated it to my stride. I do like the water resistance of this one vs other brands. I don't have to take it off when I'm showering. The sleep monitor is accurate. Somehow the app can determine deep sleep vs light sleep. My main use of this is for keeping me active when at work. I tend to sit too long at the computer and when that happens, my knees hurt getting up. The reminder to move is a great reminder. The vivosmart or the Garmin Connect app adjusts your daily goals based on previous days. If you make the goal of a certain number of step, the next day the goal will be adjusted up. If you don't make the goal, the number of steps is adjusted down.
The not-so-good:
I wear the vivosmart on my right wrist because I wear my watch on my left. I am right handed. I have noticed that when I do activities with my right hand (e.g. brushing my teeth) the motions get counted as steps. Same for throwing a ball. I imagine other brands of activity trackers do the same thing. The wrist band can be a bit difficult to put on also. It usually takes a few tries to get the nubs into the holes. The only time I do take it off is for charging the vivosmart so its more of a nuisance than a defect.
Overall I am pleased with the Garmin Vivosmart.

The vivosmart is great. Not only does it measure my daily steps, it sets higher goals each time I surpass my goal. It vibrates and shows fireworks when I reach my goal. I can control my music from my smart phone with it as well! I love this feature because I do not have to get my phone out of my arm band everytime I want to change songs. I can record my activities and share it with other Garmin users. It uploads to my Garmin app with a touch of a button. It is even easy enough for me to use! One of the best qualities about the vivosmart is that it tells me if I am getting a phone call or text message. I can quickly read it on the vivosmart to see if it is important without having to run to my phone each time!

This is the only activity tracker I've ever owned, so I can't compare it to anything else. But I've been wearing mine since Christmas 2014, so I like it.
What I like most: Phone notifications appear on the Vivosmart screen; Sleep tracking; Step tracking; Frequent firmware and app updates to fix bugs and add features.
What I like least: Frequently disconnects from my Android phone, especially at night. Nearly every morning I have to restart the Bluetooth on my phone to get it to reconnect.

I've used other fitness bands, and each has its own cons and pros. The biggest con for me with the Garmin VivoSmart is that the sleep tracking function isn't as clear to read as the UP band. That's really my only con. The pros though far outweigh the con. I love that it is waterproof. The other bands claim to be water resistant, but I've had the UP band and the FitBit short out just from taking a shower. The Garmin states that you can swim with theirs. Even dive down to 50 meters. I also like that I can easily read the date and time, how many steps taken, how many more to my goal, and how long I've been idle with just a swipe. All without syncing it to my phone. There is also a nifty feature that allows you to see who is calling, texting, emailing, ect. I usually turn it off for phone notifications, but it does come in handy at conventions, concerts, or other noisy places when you don't always want to have your hands on your phone.

I ultimately chose this fitness band for its waterproofness over fitbit and jawbone. I also wanted the blutooth notifications so that I don't have to pull my phone out of my pocket. I can get a little over a week out of the charge and it charges very fast. The app is a little plain, but does have a neat social feature where you can compete with friends who also have garmin bands, but only other garmin bands such as the vivosmart and vivofit. It will also keep track of how much you move during your sleep. Can say that it does encourage me to be more active and has been well worth the money.

it's a little hard to set up.but works pretty good keeps track of my steps and sleep patterns. I enjoy that I can wear in the shower so I don't have to take off when I shower or wash my hands (many times a day at work).
I do wish that it had a few more activities in the log (like spinning, and piyo). It does loose connection often with my phone and needs to be paired again, Which is easy enough.
I enjoy that I can wear for several days without having to recharge the batteries.

I have not explored all of the features, but these were my top criteria -
1) Sleep tracking - check
2) Steps - check
3) Calories burned - check
4) Move alert - check
5) Notifications for emails, texts, calls - check!!! (my biggest reason for buying this)
6) Battery life - 1 week
7) Accurately records start and end of sleep time automatically (no need to set manually)
Cons - Bluetooth range is only 20-25 ft with iPhone 5. Wish it was at least 50ft

This monitor is great for tracking my steps and sleep. The active calories, and use of the heart monitor (which I have and use with my spinning bike), seem to be a little too complicated for me to use. The sleep information is really helpful, providing information about movement and sleep levels. The phone locator function is an additional perk.

It does a good job of keeping track of my steps and reminding me to move. It reminds me too often tho. I will maybe be sitting for 5 minutes and it's buZing me. I do like that it can let me know when my cell phone is ringing or I have a text message.i do like the sleep feature.

I was between purchasing this or a surge because notifications were important to me. The water resistance and smaller profile were the deciding factors for the Vivosmart, and it has been fun and easy to use. I don't think the continuous HR monitoring technology in these bands is where it needs to be yet for that to have mattered for me.
