The vivosmart runs laps around similar technology like the fitbands and whatnots. Being able to connect though bluetooth and read your text messages makes you feel like a secret agent!

After extensive research, i went with the Garmin. I like that its waterproof and be worn anywhere. It syncs well with my galaxy phone. Its a solid tracker in terms of keeping data, i.e steps and sleep , but it doesn't do a good job of analyzing the data. Which is why I can't give it a 5. The jawbone and fit-bit are a better option there. I like that I can put my phone on silent and get alerts on the band whenever I get a text of phone call.

Great for counting steps but the best part is getting your text and phone calls on your wrist.

Yes, I had a not very active life and I bought it with the idea of trying a tool just for tracking some of my sleep and my small walking from home to the office and back. However I am a very competitive person and this device became the voice on my ears ("you didn' t move enough, you still need 100 steps more...). One month after buying it, I am taking the long way back home just to accomplish the objective of the day, or taking always the stairs to be sure that I have my target done by the end of the day.

I like it better than the Fitbit. I like how it sets daily goals based on my actual walking activity in the prior days. I also like the move timer to remind me to walk each day.

I was looking for a monitor that would do all the things my fit bit had done in the past but that also had some more updated features and a system to sync with my fitness watches. Garmin has done a great job. Only wish it would function a little better in the water during swims.

Vivosmart good, app not so good

The actual vivosmart unit itself is great. Tells time, gives you updates and keeps everything at your finger tips. But the app is AWEFUL. So much so that it makes the unit not so good. I'm going back to Jawbone.

The Fitbit app is much better than Garmin's, but this one allows you to get your texts and see who's calling on your wrist. The heart rate strap works well with the app.
