This is a big upgrade from the orginal vivosmart. It includes heartrate, but the biggest improvement is that the clock face is always on and everything is much easier to read.

This Fitness tracker is awesome. I have had the Polar Loop, Jawbone Up, and Jawbone Up2 and by far this is a MUCH better tracker. This is a highly accurate tracker. Not only that but the over all readout on the band itself, is very well thought out and tells you all the important info at your finger tips. The band works with many other apps out there as well and the Garmin app itself is REALLY good. Battery life is GREAT! I did give it 4 stars because at times it does disconnect from the app at times for no real reason. But it isn't difficult to reconnect the band to you phone again. Overall this band is really good. Much better than the other bands I have owned.

    Good Purchase

I bought this activity tracker because it had the added feature of having a heart rate monitor. Having owned a Nike Fuel band and still enjoying a serious workout watch, the Garmin 920XT, I purchased the Vivosmart HR because of its look and functionality. I don't have any criticism on the accuracy of the metrics it measures, all trackers will vary, but numbers appear to be consistent, no out-of-bounds figures received. One con is that the face can be easily scratched if you inadvertently bump it into a door fixture or wall but in one instance with one large scrape on its face, it was remarkable that it disappeared after a few months, as if the plastic had flowed to erase the gouge. Strange!?

I was a fitbit user for 4 years and switched to Garmin. Fitbit is falling behind with it's feature set and Garmin is much more open about sharing it's data and allowing you to export it than fitbit ever was. Steps and heart rate are accurate, but floors are totally out of wack. I get flops register for simply walking across my office or while driving in the car. Other than this great product.

I love this wearable as an activity tracker--offer great motivation with tailored goals and achievements. HR monitor is good for most activities, not great for strength training as it doesn't catch the peaks in HR. Hope this improves in the future. Still, I'd give it 5 stars if it had the option for an HR strap.

The perfect fitness band for my needs

Garmin has, in this HR version of its Vivosmart fitness tracker, overcome the drawbacks that reviewers have cited about earlier versions. It meets my needs perfectly and it is waterproof, as well, so there's no need to worry about it starting to rain or of the effect of sweat during a particularly rigorous workout.

I find that even though I climb 15 stairs each from basement to first to second floors several times a day, it only counts a handful of those 'flights' of stairs. I frankly don't care that much. So far, the heart monitor has been pretty accurate compared to measurement at the clinic, which I get during exercise these days.. The unit is waterproof, so I never worry about getting it wet, washing my hands, etc. Steps versus my old Fitbit - this counts a few less in a day, but not more than 5% different and I have no idea which one's 'right'. Calories seem reasonable, though I don't really know if accurate or not. And, it's a decent enough watch. The app's pretty cool and the device syncs to my Samsung phone any time I open the app on it. Overall, I'm really pleased and (with software updates already) it keeps getting better..

I was afraid that I would not like the size. It comes high off the wrist, but is narrower than competitor. The contact on my wrist is VERY comfortable. I really like the charging connector - nice and solid and easy to remove.

Overall, the Vivosmart HR is a good device for fitness tracker. The call & message notification are a great feature that most fitness trackers do not offer. It is a little bulky, but for what it offers, it does not get in the way. As a matter of fact, my wife bought one after she saw mine.

I chose the Garmin vivosmart HR over the Fitbit mostly because it just looks nicer. I have checked both units specs and thought the Garmin was better. I've had it for over a month and I love it. Works great, looks awesome and is pretty comfortable. I like the sleep tracker feature and the dashboard for viewing my stats. I feel like I made the right choice so far.

This is a pretty awesome activity tracker! My only complaints are the stairs do not always get counted, my fitbit one is much more accurate. Also, it takes about 3 min for the heart rate monitor to catch up once I start an activity! Only thing I miss about my fitbit surge is the GPS! I will probably be getting the new garmin vivoactive hr when it comes out!!

We think the vívosmart HR is awesome too. We'd also like to address the issue you've experienced with the stairs. Running/walking on a grade of 8% or greater will trigger the Stairs Climbed Feature. If this is not the case please contact our support team (www.garmin.com/us/support). I have had the Garmin Vivosmart HR for about three weeks and so far I really like it a lot better than my last Fitbit. With the vivosmart I don't have to worry about it falling off and loosing it and I really like the fact that it is waterproof, which was one of the things I was really disappointed about with the Fitbit, since fitbits are only sweat proof.

I just received this last week and I like it so far. This is replacing a fitbit hr that I had prior. The larger screen size is nice and the resting and active heart rate is interesting. I'm certain I am not yet using it to its fullest potential as there are a few things I have yet to set up. So far great replacement for fitbit

This tracker is great, and extremely accurate in all aspects. The app is also great and keeps a person motivated. It is well worth the purchase! Only downside is it seems a bit big in the sense of how far it sticks up from your wrist, but you will get used to it, and it will not be a problem. It lasts about a week between charges, and can fully charge in an hour.
