The device is great. Great battery life(about 6 days). Love the heart rate monitor and the ability to save events. Use it everyday, actually replaced my watch with this device. Only downfall is wish the battery indicator gave you better notice before it just died. More instruction to customize steps.

    Screen Scratches Very Easily

Great product overall. Every function works extremely well, although I am not sure how accurate the heart rate monitor is, but for the most part its decent. One of my favorite features is the vibrating alarm system. You defiantly do not need to worry about swimming with it on because it is extremely water resistant. The down side of the product is the screen scratches easily and that wouldn't be a problem if Garmin was able to replace the screen, but through research I found out it would cost over $100 and they would have to replace a lot of the parts. I would not recommend this product just because my friend bought a Fitbit Charge 2 and it has more features as well as the screen hasn't scratched yet, although I would buy a screen protecter, no matter what, for both products.

If you want a great health monitor plus the addition of smartphone notifications you can view but don't want to try answering on a small watch-type device, you won't find a better device to fit those needs than this one. Bonus: control your phones music player, see the weather, a charge lasts 4+ days, and you can swim with it. Spending more gets you frills you likely don't need, more bulk, and no better core features. Do you really need anything more than this has? I didn't.

I had a viviofit 2 and I wanted a device that would calculate my heart rate. This also tracks your sleep, steps, heart rate and stairs climbed. It is waterproof and that is a plus.

Great tracker. I bought this to not only check my heart rate but also to see how many steps I take everyday. This tracker was easy to set up, syncs easily and the battery life is about 6 days. The sleep monitor has also been accurate and coincides with my CPAP readings as well.

I chose the Garmin Vivosmart HR because I needed the tracker to be waterproof. I've been very impressed with the ease of use, the accuracy of the step tracking, and the ability to sync the steps with my food tracker app. I love the ability to customize the features, such as turning off the items that aren't needed (for me, the music controls), and the ability to choose which alerts, if any, are shown on the device. I have most of the alerts turned off, and I can usually go about a week without having to charge it. My only complaint that I have is that it doesn't consistently register stairs. Some days, my stairs climbed show up, and other days they don't (same sets of stairs, work and home). Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase. So much so that I purchased one for my daughter, and now my husband wants one too.

I bought this as a gift for my daughter. She is a college varsity swimmer and wanted to be able to wear it in the water. She also wanted a heart rate monitor. This is the best tracker on the market that will do these two things. She is very pleased with it.

This unit does a decent job tracking HR, calories, steps, etc... it has no problem in the shower. My only gripe is the inconsistency with sleep tracking, but it is more of a tool to show me deep sleep as there are many times it says light sleep when I am awake @ night

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We appreciate the feedback and the chance to address your concern regarding the automatic sleep detection.

Garmin Connect is designed to detect sleep information automatically by checking for a sleep period the first time the device is synced after the pre-set sleep time. Using this information, Garmin Connect will automatically set the lowest period of activity recorded by the vívosmart HR as the sleep time.

Should discrepancies continue with the sleep tracking, please feel free to contact Garmin Customer Care for assistance: http://www.garmin.com/support

Works great, tracks activity, sleep & heart rate with useful information. Keeps track of calories and weight loss when used in conjunction with My Fitness Pal app. It is a little bulky, but not bad. I wish you could get additional bands and maybe a dressier band. I also wish it better supported putting in workout information. It would be nice if the manual did a better job of explaining things, like "intensity moments"

This device is good for tracking your activity, goals and sleep. It vibrates when you receive alerts. I will let you read texts and control music on your phone. It will notify of emails and voice calls on your phone. The only problem I have is the screen is dim. During the day indoors it's average. If you are in the sun it's below average. At night you would think it would be a lot brighter but it's not bright at all.

I bought this primarily to monitor my heart per my doctor's recommendation. It works great for that. I also find the step tracking, notifications, weather, and sleep monitoring helpful. My only gripes are that it's a little chunky and the flights of stairs counter doesn't work all the time. My iPhone logged me at 20 flights today and my Garmin says 7. One day it said two when I know I had at least 12. Some days it seems to work fine. Either way that wasn't my reason for buying it. Overall very good product at a good value.

The packaging humbly mentions that it's water resistant to 5atm, that's 50 meters. Until recently that was highly uncommon. It tracks sleep excellently, it's pretty smart about workouts, steps, stairs and sleep, charges quick, lasts for days, has a vibrating wake-up alarm. Fits under gloves, and, as a volunteer firefighter, I've worn this in live structure fire (under full bunker gear) and so far heat, steam, etc. haven't gotten to it yet. The only thing that's not 110% is: if you set it down while you charge it (necessary) or while you shower (even though you don't have to) and leave it long enough, it may start recording it as sleep. However, the app you use to pair your device and view all data makes it VERY easy to edit sleep time. All in all, with HR, Sleep, and 5atm waterproof, this was the best deal when I bought it and I am very, very glad I did.

I was reading the reviews and seen such terrible revies. People were reviewing this item bad ratings because of a sale or some other dumb reasons. This item is a great watch. I would not get any other kind of watch other then Garmin. So far i have owned the Garmin Vivofit and Vivofit2 and can tell you that the app for this Garmin on Android works great and the watch it self is easy to use and works great. One of the best features i found that this watch has is keeping track of your sleep. It does a good job at that. And second is the Hear Rate Keeps me inform and proves to me how hard i actually do work. If you are looking for a great smart watch this is the best one in my opinion. The only downfall i can find with this watch is that fact that you have to charge it. It does go an easy 4 days before draining down to need another charge but its worth it.

    Great HR Activity monitor

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I wanted an activity monitor that included heart rate that would work well with my other Garmin devices, and this seems to fit the bill. The device itself works great, easy to use and figure out, and is waterproof enough so I don't have to take it off in the pool or shower. The improvements this need are (1) charge connector cradle sometimes seems to snap securely into place, but it really isn't and it doesn't get recharged, (2) sometimes the connection with the Garmin Connect App isn't all that robust, so some displays (like weather) are never available on the device, and (3) the Garmin Connect App seems to require an active internet connection otherwise I can't pull up the data on my phone even after a sync with my device. Still, a pretty good value. My girlfriend has a Fitbit Surge HR and I prefer this one.

This tracker does a great job of recording sleep, steps, certain activities, heartrate, stairs, and phone notifications. I use it for Zumba classes, walking and hiking, and it's much more effective at calculating how hard I work out than other activity trackers I've owned. There are so many graphs and reports that it's a bit overwhelming at first, but useful info. It does require charging once a week or so. The bracelet itself is a bit too large, but worth it for the breadth of data. Excellent price, too.

The HR was a nice upgrade form the original Vivosmart, but it quickly became obvious why i should have kept my old band. The HR is big, bulky, and made of hard plastic. Not as easy to manage jackets and sweaters around. Not sure how accurate the heart rate sensor is, leaves a nice indention in my wrist. I catch myself adjusting it on my arm to let my "skin breathe." I have a small wrist so all of these are preference to me. The display does light up when touched and has options to view weather, play music, and receive calls/text. The heart rate flashes current beat and resting. Touching it opens a menu that shows last 4 hours.

If you don't want to buy an Apple product or you want support for Windows/Windows mobile and a Band is out of the question, then this is the device for you. This device accurately tracks my steps/stairs and sleep. The heart rate correlates to my activity. I would buy another one. At present there are no extra bands available, and I wish mine were just a tad larger.

I had been wanting a fitness band for sometime; one that could measure heart rate without the need for a chest monitor and I found the perfect blend of functionality and price in this device. Its convenient, and the battery lasts me for almost 4-5 days. Very happy with it and miss it when I forget to wear it. Great workout motivator too!!!
