i bought this watch as an upgrade to my fitbit 5 because it was starting to fizzle (not record my longer hikes). So far I'm very pleased although some of the displays are not as user friendly as my fit bit was.

Good watch, but I wish there was more functionality with the side buttons. Most navigation is done with the touchscreen.

Really sad watch. It looks nice, easy to set up but for some reason they don't believe you need to see your number of steps - which is the whole point. You have to go to a second screen. Whose idea was that? It gives you a lot of tracking measures including sleep - which I have no interest in. It tracks your heart rate and the weather. They also only give you a charging cord not the part that goes into the wall.

You can change the display screen to view steps. As well, the watch can be charged using a computer, phone wall brick or any other USB port. If you still need assistance, please go to support.garmin.com where you'll find many helpful FAQ's and video's on the functions of the device. As well, you can reach out to a product support associate from that link. Garmin

Well, I missed the return window, or this item would have been returned. I previously had a Venu Sq that was three years old. It stopped keeping an accurate record for activities. I thought it might be time to upgrade. Boy, I made a huge mistake. This watch is very buggy. The battery life is about 4 days. The heart rate is accurate...until it isn't, requiring a reboot. The sleep tracking is a joke. Save your money - don't buy this version. Let's hope Garmin fixes it for future releases.

A superior alternative to Fitbit and Apple Watch

After years of frustration with multiple Fitbits (versa, inspire 2, inspire 3), I decided to switch to this Garmin Vivoactive 5. I also tried an Apple Watch, but was seriously disappointed with the battery life and having download multiple 3rd party apps for exercise tracking. The Vivoactive 5 is superior to my Fitbits in terms of providing me with health metrics without a lame Fitbit paywall (not to mention this will last a longer than any Fitbit). The Garmin Connect app is great, although it does take some time to get used to it. It's also superior to the Apple Watch in terms of battery life and having everything on one app for my workouts. I love this watch! In my opinion, this is a great value, especially comparted to the Venu 3.

I love the design! I definitely still have a lot to learn about my garmin but so far i have enjoyed all of the features I know how to use. I think it is a perfect watch for those who stay active through different types of exercises. I also recommend it for those of you that want a quality technology that is not extremely expensive.
