Doesn’t work! Buttons messed up within a month of light use! Geek squad said they would fix since I couldn’t get my refund anymore! Horrible microwave!

First microwave last about a month before it started smoking and stopped working. GE said they would send us a check if we replaced it with another it with another GE microwave. We did and this one has a problem with the door latch sticking, requiring 2 hands to open the door. We are still waiting on the check to reimburse us for the first microwave. We will not be buying another.

Not safe when the internals burn

Worked until the 1 year warranty expired and then the internals burned. Not safe in a house setting when your appliances burn.

I've only owned this for a couple of months, and the door latch is defective. I have to hit the latch release full force, while at the same time pulling on the door - in order to get it to open.

I bought this as a gift for my mother. The microwave caught on fire within the first week and I am being given issues on getting my money back.
Hello Domm - thank you for providing a review of your microwave. We're sorry to hear that it is taking a while to heat your food and that the plastic is coming off the control panel. This unit has 700 watts of power so it should heat quickly. Also, many microwaves are now packed with a plastic film applied to the outside of the door and control panel. This is similar to the film that would cover chrome trim parts to prevent scratching during shipping and is used for the same reason on the microwave. Remove the film before using the microwave. This is a static cling film that should peel off easily. If it is not the static cling plastic that peels off easily, then we recommend to exercise your one year warranty if it is still applicable and return the unit with your receipt for exchange. Did not even last 3 months. Display just keeps flashing and beeping. Sometimes I can get it to work by unplugging and plugging back in. I can't even return anymore.

Likely defect

The first few days were excellent. Then it developed a significant squealing sound as the turntable rotated. I recycled the box, so I'm not sure I can return or exchange it, but I'm concerned that it may burn out. I don't leave the microwave when it's on because I don't know how serious the problem is.

The cycling of the convection element and fan will alternate continuously with the hum of the magnetron and the fan. This could be what you're hearing, so we hope that helps ease your mind. "You get what you pay for" Problem w/ excessive moisture gathering under the turntable.

Lower end microwave for camper use. No current problems. Easy to use not bad for price.

The size is perfect for kitchens with minimum counter space. I previously had a 1100 wt with features I hardly used. 700 watts heats almost as fast. I use mostly for warming, not meal prep. Only complaint, hard to read function keys, although it's in the same location as my old micro with same available lighting. What I like best is the sound off button. That was definitely a priority for me. So annoying if you can't shut if the beep!
