Great food processor for general use.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very nice, large capacity food processor. In my old processor, the motor was on its way out and would no longer shred cheese, although we still used it for salsa. It comes with a chopping blade that has a unique shape compared to the flat version we had before. It's not just a flat S blade, but one of the blades is swept up which seems like a good design to me. It also comes with two reversible shredding/slicing discs as is typical for many processors on the market. I really liked that the bowl didn't have a hole in the center like other versions so you don't have to worry that liquid will be too high in the bowl and spill through center. We decided to test it out making tacos which required the use of the processor to shred the cheese and to make the salsa. Cleaning the bowl in between was pretty easy. All parts are top rack dishwasher safe as well, making clean up a breeze. It had no trouble chopping and mixing ingredients for salsa and shredded the cheese very fast. Very impressed overall. An additional feature was the food pusher has two parts, a smaller one that fits inside of a larger one so that you can have slender items that you want shredded or sliced remain upright in the smaller area. A thoughtful addition. If I had one complaint, it would be that the knob is not exactly the best for when you want to use the pulse feature. Overall, a great food processor that should meet your needs for years.

love having a food processor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i love having this processor now. never owned on before so this is a first time. we get bricks of cheese now and then and had shred the cheese. having this saves a lot of time and headache. has a couple options for shredding and slicing, medium and fine. now i dont dread getting a block of cheese as i can choose to shred or slice it. this is one nice perk is that you can buy a block of cheese and then slice some and shred some. it has 3 modes (says 3 speeds). i dont like saying 3 speeds though. same as a blender. you have a pulse which is usually the same speed as one of the other speeds just that it stays on as long as you hold the button down. then you have 2 set speeds for it. i love that the plunger (part to push food down) has 2 parts to it. a smaller hole that you can use for small things or lets say a carrot. and then a larger one. if i had to complain. i would say, to bad it did not come with a lid. would have been nice to have a lid to keep it more low profile so if you chop lets say a salsa blend that you could keep in the dish and just swap the top off with a more low profiled lid. but honestly that is no big deal and overall love having this now. and in my opinion and its weird and maybe just me but i find that fresh grated/sliced cheese just seems to taste a bit better.

Nice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great food processor especially at this price. I hadn't used one before but wanted to try one out. GE makes good stuff at reasonable prices so I thought I'd give it a try. Large capacity and seems well made. Does all the usual stuff that a food processor should. Also makes dough which I didn't realize a food processor could do. I tried some homemade salsa in it and it was great. Also very easy. I also shredded some cheddar cheese, carrots, and chopped lettuce for an easy salad. Easy cleanup, you can put it in the dishwasher (all except the base/ motor which shouldn't need it). The manual says to put it on the top level though to protect it from excessive heat. Looks good on my counter or you can take it apart to put in the cabinet. If you're looking at food processors, this is a good choice.

Make quick work of kitchen prep!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom Line: The GE 12-Cup Food Processor is a simple to use appliance for dicing, slicing, and shredding. Pros: lightweight, easy to use, large capacity, easy to clean Cons: control dial is awkward for pulsing Review: The stainless steel design of the GE 12-Cup Food Processor is attractive and surprisingly lightweight, which really helps when taking it and out and putting it back into storage. There are suction cups on the bottom that do a good job of keeping the unit in place during use. I really like the simplicity of the machine, which comes with the main chopping blade and two different sized discs for slicing and shredding. It’s very easy to take apart / put together for your desired task. The machine has plenty of power to make quick work of routine tasks, and I was pleased with how quickly the machine was able to shred potatoes for hash browns and slice a carrot. The simplicity of the design also makes clean-up a a breeze, since everything is completely self-contained in the work cup. The stem for the blade / discs is part of the cup, so there’s no risk of liquid dripping down into the motor base, which can happen with the design of other food processors I've owned in the past. The machine has a control dial, which is turned right for low / high speed and left for pulse. The pulse side has a spring to bounce it back to the off setting, but I find using a dial for pulsing to be more awkward than a button.

Good entry level or lighter duty processor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The usable capacity of this food processor is about 10 cups which is a few cups smaller than my previous one. That makes it easier to store. I tend to make large batches of items and prefer a larger size. This size would be fine for most cooks. One of the items I tested this on was Swedish meatballs. It worked fine on the onion and chopped as small as required. The main ingredients are ground beef and ground pork. Because of the smaller size I had to process only 2 pounds of meat at a time with the other ingredients. My previous processor could handle about 4 pounds. With the meatballs the goal is to mix at high speed so the mixture becomes light, wet and fluffy. It did a pretty good job although it made a lot of noise and seemed to struggle. After 8 batches of meatballs, we were both exhausted. I will admit that the meatballs are probably what killed my last processor. It does have the usual safety features – top must be on just right, suction feet to hold in place. Slicing vegetables worked great but the chute is just too small. My old processor could handle an entire onion, this one holds one-quarter to one-third of an onion. Shredding was excellent. There aren’t any detailed blade instructions so if you haven’t used a food processor before YouTube videos can help. Tomato puree worked well and the bowl didn’t leak. I always hand wash and would recommend hand washing the blades even if you dish wash the bowl and chute parts. I would consider this a very good entry level food processor or one for lighter duty.

Necessary Kitchen Appliance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this GE Food Processor so much I would declare it a necessary item for any kitchen. It has multiple cut options, the motor is powerful and surprisingly not very loud, and the 12-cup capacity is amazing if you are making a lot of coleslaw for example. I only have one con, I wish there was a compartment to store the blades. Simple fix is freeing up some space in a drawer or purchasing a storage container. I really have to say I am impressed by the stainless design. Way to go GE.

It slices, it dices...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you only read one line from this review, let it be this: This food processor is a must have for any kitchen! Ok, now go to your nearest best buy and pick one up. I like cooking...when it involves grills and outside. I live in the Midwest and it's February. Not much grilling going on with a foot of snow outside and freeze your beer temperatures. So I am trying to expand my cooking expertise indoors. One thing I have learned about cooking inside...I HATE CHOPPING AND SLICING AND TAKING 3 YEARS TO FOOD PREP. But enter the challenger...The GE Stainless Food Processor. Oh. My. Goodness. I use to think that salads were for rabbits. But now I can slice and dice onions, radishes, peppers...all the things...and I have a restaurant style salad. Super Bowl Sunday coming up. Want to make a meat tray? Put the knife away and feed this monster a thick length of sausage or pepperoni...instant charcuterie tray! I love this thing and it alone has expanded not only my cooking possibilities, but my cooking frequency. One of the best features I found with this machine is actually a safety feature. If you do not assemble it correctly, it will not turn on. This alone should save some fingers. Super Bowl Sunday is in just a few days. Get to Best Buy and make your audience happy

Sharp Processor!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first food processor though I've had blenders which do limited functions - but not as well as this real food processor. It is nice to have the shredding capability with the different blades. Clean up is much easier in this than what I am used to as well. There is no leakage or spilling when lifting this out and there are no crevices on the main body to catch debris that make clean up a pain. Nice smooth inside. While many food processors I find have buttons, this one has a dial. At first I thought this would be an annoyance, but I like the dial because on the pulse setting, I can hold the know while it does its thing and the spring loaded knob returns back to the off-setting just fine. Sometimes buttons can stick and then you have to find the off button on other models. Having a knob makes this really a one-step process! The stainless steel exterior is impressive and gives a quality look which other brands don't have. Overall, this is a simple to use, easy to clean product that does what it is supposed to do without a mess or overthinking.

I had forgotten how nice food processors are
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This GE food processor has made many of my favorite recipes much easier to prepare. The stainless steel base feels substantial and the suction cups on the base are a nice touch. The bowl is generous sized and the feed mouth comes with two size plungers. The unit comes with a chopping/kneading blade as well as two reversible disks that slice or shred. Along with the two disks, you also get a spindle to mount them on. One of my favorite meals to use leftover meat and rice, is fried rice. As much as I like it, preparation has always been a concern, with chopping the onions and cutting up the meat taking an extended period of time. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how much the food processor speeded up the process. I used the chopping blade to chop the onions, one of the disks in shredding mode, to shred the carrots and reversed to slice the meat. What used to take about 1/2 hour was done in just a few minutes I'll be getting a lot of use out of this..

Powerful, flexible processor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GE Food Processor G8P0AASSPSS This GE Appliance food processor comes with an extra-large chopping and processing chamber that holds up to 12 cups of food. That should allow you to prepare enough for your entire family or your guests. Once your food has been prepared, you can then remove the processing container from the base, using the built-in handle to carry it to where it’s needed. Its 550 Watts allow you to process tough fruits, vegetables, and meats. It even handled an entire package of hard whole almonds for me with no problem. Weighing in at 6.6 pounds and standing 16” tall, this is a real solid-feeling unit. And it has four suction cup feet to keep the unit anchored to your counter while you’re using it. The various parts of the unit make a solid connection when you put them together properly. You’ll want to confirm that these connections are made correctly so that the unit works properly. The processing control dial choices are simple enough – high, low, pulse and off. The unit comes with three stainless steel blades and disks. In addition to the main blade, there are two shredding/slicing discs, (one fine and one medium). And for maximum flexibility, it comes with both a large feed tube and a smaller feed tube that fits inside the larger one for blending smaller ingredients and liquids. And the smaller inner tube also includes a pusher to feed those smaller ingredients into the processing chamber. Since the unit’s food processor housing is stainless steel, the unit looks fashionable if you should decide you want to leave it out. And it comes with a one-year limited warranty. While the unit does an excellent job of processing, slicing and shredding, I was disappointed with the documentation. Some of the parts are not even listed under the “Parts Included” section, yet they’re referred to in the instructions and you’re left scratching your head, trying to figure out what they’re referring to. And some of the parts that are listed are called one thing in one place and something different in another place. That’s not a good way to help a new user get up and running with this otherwise outstanding product. While I eventually figured things out and was able to put the unit though its paces, it was an unnecessarily frustrating experience getting to that point. I strongly recommend that this issue be addressed, and that the documentation be revised, because user education is a very important part of understanding and using a device like this properly. If it wasn’t for the confusing documentation, I would have definitely given it five stars.

Great size for a larger family
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've owned our previous food processor for 17 years. It was a wedding gift, and now that there are two adults and two teenagers, it was far too small. This 12-cup (about 10-cups usable) food processor is big enough to make everything at once. With our previous one, we had to do everything in batches. My first use was chopping onions. I cut them into quarters and put them in. I used the pulse function (which is low speed) to get them to the size I wanted. It was quick, and not nearly as loud as our old one. It also comes with two discs. One for fine and one for medium shredding and slicing. I shredded some cheese and sliced some vegetables with it and it worked great. It definitely speeds up the prepping process from hand cutting everything. The feed tube is large and allows you to put bigger foods through it. It also has a smaller feed tube inside it so you can add smaller ingredients like herbs easily. I like that it has a simple knob for the pulse/low/high settings. Others with 5 or 6 buttons for varying speeds just seems like too much. The handle is a good size. I have larger hands and the handle fits well. It's hefty enough to be able to lift the processing jar when it's full of food. The suction cup feet have the right amount of grip, but let go easily when you need to move it. My previous one felt like it was nailed down. You would have to pull on it incredibly hard to get it to release, and then when it did you almost threw it across the room. The stainless steel finish looks great and it has cord storage inside of it, which is nice. It seems like every other small appliance I have doesn't have this and the cord just gets thrown behind it in the cabinet. Although it's not huge, it is about 16" tall, so take that into account. You will probably have to remove the top if you store it in a cabinet. Not a big deal, but it does take up twice as much space that way. Overall, it's been a great addition to the kitchen and something that I will use often.

Does a good job
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Food processor technology has been the same for years. This GE unit is the same. We have used it in several ways so far. First made a chocolate milk shake with Pecans. Using the stand ingredients i put pecan half's in the mixture, did a great job of breaking them up into small pieces without turning them to dust. Next used it to chop walnuts for a walnut crust in a pie shell. Again did a good job although you need to use sufficient quantity to get consistent results. Use too little and you get dust not finely chopped nuts. The unit comes with two grating attachments (fine and course). Making tacos decided to use block cheese, did a good job with hard cheese (like a sharp cheddar) but struggles with soft cheeses. Should work great with veggies. Controls include pulse and constant on at various speeds. The bowl and attachments work well although in order to use the grater you insert a lifting shaft so the grating disks are raised up. Got some wobble when using these which is why I dropped one star. Attaching the bowl and lid is easy and provides a good lock to insure no leakage. Used GE for some time and they seem to be reliable, this unit replaced a higher priced processor the just quit. Hope it will provide the same long term reliability as my other GE appliances.

Good No-Frills Processor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First thing we did with our new food processor was make fresh salsa and guac. The salsa was dead-easy to make, but the guacamole was a little more challenging. First off, the salsa. We tossed in some tomatoes, onion, cilantro and a few other things and set the processor to doing its thing. It did a great job of chopping everything up finely and consistently. Overall volume is somewhat loud, but not obnoxiously so like our last food processor. The pulse setting is especially strong and the whole unit kind of twists slightly from the torque. The Guac was a little different. The avocado ended up blocking the other ingredients so the onion and tomato weren't pulled into the blades and had to be forced. Our previous processor was designed in such a way that ingredients were pulled into the blades, so this was a little disappointing. In hindsight it would work better if the thicker ingredients are put in last since this one doesn't "blend" as well as others. One thing I really appreciated was the thought that went into the design to make cleaning up easier. There are no lips, ridges or layers that can trap food and make cleaning up difficult. I was able to get a cleaning cloth on all surfaces and rinse everything easily. The looks and construction are very no-frills. Although the base is covered in stainless steel the giant plastic knob makes it look cheap. Also, controls are very basic and there is no fancy display. If you're looking for a basic, reliable food processor this will do the job, but if you're looking for something to leave out on the counter you may want to find something more upscale looking.

Quality Food Processor That's Easy to Use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a solid food processor you could spend more money but not get the quality found in this GE model. This food processor does shredding, slicing, mixing and more but is very simple to use. With just one knob you can select your options: high speed, low speed, pulse or off. The stainless steel design makes it very attractive to sit on your kitchen counter. You can even hide the power cord under the unit. I do have some minor issues, however. Instead of a rotating knob, I would have preferred a button to press just for the "pulse" setting. Even the manual lists it as a "button" instead of a knob. This food processor is listed as a 12-cup device, but both the manual and the markings on the mixing bowl indicate that it is indeed a 10-cup unit. Even with those shortcomings, do check out this GE food processor. If you want a quality appliance that takes care of your kitchen preparation needs this is the one for you.
