So far, so good. On Sunday night, our 94 y.o. mom's fridge stopped working and she wanted a new one right away. Price was good, and availability was excellent. Delivery was Tuesday morning. Delivery guys were amazing!

Great Fridge with a few drawbacks

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this stainless steel fridge during COVId quarantine time when many fridges were out of stock. I've had it over one year now and am happy with my decision. This fridge doesnt have all the bells abd whistles like a water dispenser or anytjing but keeps my food cool/frozen which is all I wanted. The only drawback is that the freezer doesn't have a light. So if you're looking for something in the freezer at night you have to turn your overhead light on for the room to see, which I find weird. Overall, it serves its purpose and has been solid thus far

    Funky Smell in fridge.

Like the looks and size of my refrigerator. But Recently have notice a strange smell in the fridge. Smell like old ice cubes and makes the water in my Brita pitcher taste weird. Tried checking for any spoiled food and added 4 boxes of baking soda which helped a little. The fridge is just over 6 months old. Contacted the store 2 weeks ago and have not heard back yet. Can anyone let me know if they have experienced this? Maybe this is normal or am I too sensitive to smell? I just need to know.

    Worse refrigerator ever!

This was one of the worst refrigerator I ever bought. 6months into the service, my tenant started complaining that bottom part of the refrigerator doesn't become cold. I told them to make adjustment and see if it works. It looks like during the summer bottom part of the refrigerator doesn't work at all. so the vegetables and their food get spoil. Very disappointed

    Freon leak after 3 years

    Posted .

Sooo we got this fridge 3 years ago and just had an internal freon leak. We've done all the proper maintenance and took great care of this appliance. It's obviously defective. It was poisoning us for 3 weeks. We didn't know what the smell was. It kept getting worse. Overbearing to where we had to unplug it. It was a sweet chemical smell. Out of warranty after 1 year!

We've had the fridge for a year and it has not cooled correctly the whole time. I just scheduled service again. Even when it is in the recommended temperature outside (38-110), the fridge section freezes over at the top does not reach below 40 degrees. The freezer is constantly freezing/thawing and gets a significant amount of thick frost around the door. When the last serviceman was here, he tried to say (1) it wasn't designed for the garage (2) It was too hot/cold in the garage (3) we must have left the freezer door open (4) the freezer was too full and air couldn't circulate. All incorrect - I had to pull up the manual to show him it was okay for the garage and it was 50 degrees that day. Still hopeful the next service may repair it, but maybe we got a dud.

Hello and thank you for choosing our new garage ready refrigerator. We hate to hear about the trouble you have experienced with it but glad to hear you are taking advantage of the warranty. For the best performance, make sure the unit is over 2/3 full, large items are not blocking air channels at the back of the unit, and the gaskets are in good repair. Please feel free to reach back out with any questions or concerns. - John@GEA GE_Appliances

    Door seals are junk

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Do not waste your money on this refrigerator. The seal is horrible. When you close the bottom door, the freezer door pops open about an inch. The same thing happens when you close the freezer door- the fridge door pops open. We have ALL GE appliances in our home. I had a set of GE washer/dryer that I had for 18 years & never had an issue with. Unfortunately this is 1 product I would steer you away from!

Found this model GE to replace my existing GE of 38 years. The size was correct for the opening and GE's hinge design allows for no overlap larger than the width dimension. Plenty of storage.

Disappointed: Didn’t Last More Than 3 Years

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I expected better durability for the price, but this refrigerator stopped working just after 3 years. It started with minor issues, then noises and inconsistent cooling. It finally completely gave out. For a major appliance, that’s just not acceptable. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for something long-lasting.

Light stopped working on our barely 3 year old fridge. And it’s not a simple bulb swap. It’s a $150 control board piece.

Can't count on Best Buy anymore...

I ordered this refrigerator on July 6. Today I was given my 5TH delivery date!!! After years of being a loyal Best Buy customer, I couldn't be more disgusted. I have been "strung along" and lied to consistently about the availability of this product. Finally, a representative was honest today when I asked if it would be available on the next "promised" delivery date. I appreciated an honest answer--finally. But I no longer trust Best Buy.

I bought mine in 2022. Freezer does not freeze Ice Cream, and does not freeze items in the door. In the winter, my soda/beer etc freezes and explodes. Would not buy again. I've had better luck with regular refrigerators in my garage.

If your ice cream is too soft, you may need to experiment to determine the best location and temperature control setting to keep your ice cream at the right serving temperature. The coldest location is typically at the rear of the freezer. For help with adjusting the temperature, please review the "'Temperature Control" section on pg. 5 of the Owner's Manual. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. -Don@GEAppliances GE_Appliances

Can not use in a cold garage.

I bought this refrigerator to put in my garage because it specifically said it was garage ready. Now I have a complete mess because all the soda that I had in it exploded with the cold temperature of my garage. When they exploded they also busted both drawers in the bottom.
